DC 180: Winter 1911 Adjucation - MattKelly   (Jan 25, 2009, 10:15 am)
I will again put forward the following end-game proposal: France/Germany.
I'm sorry but Austria has done nothing to warrant being included in the win.

Matt,

Has it crossed your mind that I have to agree with you and vote against my own interests for your draw proposal to pass? And that this is your last turn before elimination? Why are you wasting your time - just hoping that I'll get squeezed out after you're gone? Who knows - that's a really strong, well-laid out argument you made. France and Germany have clearly seen some value in my contribution so far, but maybe they'll be swayed by your irrefutable logic and ask me to step aside. Then again, maybe someone will explain to you how this game is really played in an EGS.

Jorge,

From the tenor of your e-mail I have probably been playing this game a lot longer than you have. I'm not disputing your post. What I am saying is that your play in this game, which I have looked at prior to my joining it, does not warrant your inclusion in the tie. Since playing on this site I have turned down my inclusion in a tie because I didn't think my play was good enough and to be included would detract from the good play of others. That is how I look at end games. Not asking you to agree with it just understand it. It comes with age.

Matt,

You make a lot of assumptions: that I'm younger than you, have been playing for a much shorter time than you, and that I don't deserve to be in this draw. Here are some of mine. Based on your record at DC, you're an average player, and consequently probably have only a vague sense of what goes on behind the scenes on a winning side. In fact, you have exactly one draw to your credit - and in that draw, you and another player who each had ten SCs shared the draw with a player who had four. Sounds eerily familiar to me - and I wonder if that sour memory has anything to do with your gracelessness?

I say gracelessness because you already expressed your uninformed but still valid opinion as to why I don't deserve to be in this draw several turns ago. In doing so, you implicitly said that Alex and Mikael are blind to something that's obvious to you. I would have thought that would give you pause, especially since Mikael is one of the top players at DC - maybe, just maybe, you are missing something. Nevertheless, there was your opinion out in the open for all to read and take in. Clearly neither of those players agreed with you. So here you are, your situation so far gone that you'll be eliminated regardless, giving it one last shot with nothing to gain, and not even putting forth the semblance of an argument... just whining, in your courteous way, because the rest of the game - the part that will no longer involve you - isn't working out in a way that you can comprehend.

You are no doubt younger than me. In the game you referred to #179 I proposed the draw. France gave up early which skewed the game. Note Germany with (4) centers was included while Italy w/ (6) was not. Based on play and Italy voted for it. In #176 I was offered to be in the tie and refused based on the fact I had came to the game late and in my opinion those in the tie deserved it.

Don't know why your getting your dander up. You are correct that I'm a goner and you will, due to the forbearance of France and Germany, be part of the tie. All I have done is expressed an opinion.

DC223 - 1903 Winter adjustments - CORRECTION - bielf11   (Jan 24, 2009, 8:08 pm)
I made a mistake with Russia's build.
Attached files contain the correct version. Will also update DC website.

Winter 1903: again no orders from Austria. It seems that its ruler has vanished.
Leaves me the choice of finding a new one or wait one more season to see whether its ruler resurfaces.
With only one unit left, small chance that a new ruler will stand up. More likely the country will go in Civil Disorder in Spring.
What a shameful end for such a once powerful country.

Adjustments
---------------------
Austria: NBR - Auto-disband A Galicia
England: Build F Edinburgh
France: Build F Brest
Russia: Build A Moscow

Next is Spring 1904.
Deadline for Spring orders is Wednesday Jan 28 at 23:00 GMT.

DC215 Fall 1906 Results - MattTheLesser   (Jan 24, 2009, 1:01 pm)
An eventful season to say the least! Turkey takes back Ankara to regain
all of his home centers, but loses all his other ones in the process,
Germany claims all of Iberia and takes back Paris before the French can
re-assimilate it, and Italy continues his eastward expansion, increasing
his size by 50%.

Also, the Germans finally break through the final English holdout in
Liverpool, and so we have our second elimination. Thanks you German for
a good game and for sticking out.

Moving forward, we have 3 retreats. However, all of them have only one
option so I have processed them so. Warren, let me know if you wish
yours OTB instead. Mark and Vince, you can just disband the unit in the
winter if you so choose.

Speaking of winter, the deadline will be this coming Tuesday, January
27, at 9 pm eastern. Adjustments due are listed below the adjudication.

DC 217, Fall 1904 - alwayshunted   (Jan 23, 2009, 11:36 pm)
Hey all, here is fall.

Wow, another interesting turn. We have some more press.... see below.

We had a couple of Russian retreats due, but I already had a retreat order from our Russian player for the unit where he had an option. I have adjudicated the autumn turn, and we move on to winter 1904..... thanks Simon.

Remarkably, considering all of the jostling, only France has adjustment orders due. I will adjudicate early if I get them marked final, but the deadline is on Tuesday, 22:00 MST.

PRESS:

Question: What’s the difference between Germany and a jellyfish? Answer: The jellyfish is spineless but potentially deadly, but Germany is just spineless.

Russia-France: Did you do it then? Did the sly evil grin and the contemplative grin develop into sticking the boot in to the English?

Russia-Germany: So, when England says “Walkies!”, do you wag your tail and fetch your lead?
Question: What is the difference between Germany and a sponge cake? Answer: There is no difference. They’re both very nice, but lightweight and regularly consumed by the English with a cup of tea.

DC232 autum 1902 retreats / winter 1902 adjustment... - coryfucius   (Jan 23, 2009, 6:10 pm)
Well, folks, I received no message from the Kaiser, so Germany suffers an NRR, automatically scuttling the fleet in Denmark and leaving the rebuild waived. I also could not locate a build order from England, so the Queen's two builds are also waived.

Spring 1903 orders will be due Monday 1/26 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Prelims, prelims, prelims! If you are unable to send revised/final orders, I'll at least have something...

Cory

Lots of Bounces But No Retreats Needed
It Seems That Almost Every Navy in the Free World Wants to Get to the Med Somewhere!

Okay all...no retreats but remember the QUICK turnaround on builds/disbands. We have several of those below. I have some conditional builds but those CAN be changed pre-deadline if desired. Deadline is tomorrow at 5pm CST. I will hold tight to that because I have to adjudicate before going to an event tomorrow night.

Happy digesting!

DC234: Turkey - GM (Adjustments for Winter 1902) v... - Samnuva   (Jan 23, 2009, 3:01 pm)
Builds are In. Well, this completes our second game year, and our first (and let's hope our last) without me making any major mistakes. Our next deadline is, as you can probably guess, monday the 26th of January at 4pm ET. That will be for Spring '03. As the game heats up, I also would like to remind everyone about the two Winter Blitz awards: Best Press and Best Stab, both of which are rather self explanatory. Keep those in mind. With That Said [Fanfare] The results!

And what message would be complete without maps?

There we go. Remember those awards, and remember to send those orders in.
