Need help - ssmith377   (Jun 13, 2013, 9:21 am)
I've never played online before and I am not sure how to get in to a game. I'm down to play in any game at anytime.

Give me a chance.

Welcome to Diplomaticcorp! It's deceptively simple to join a game. Up at the top there you can see "Games", which is a drop-down menu and the first option is "Open Games". You'll see three open games at the moment. For each game there is bold white text which reads "Join this game!". Press it, and you're in, and you should receive an e-mail from your human GM.

At this moment, re001 has six players of seven, so if you join that you have a good chance to start the game very soon.

I tried to join the game but it says that I need to join a randomized game first since it is my first time.
Gunboat game underway! Fun press to read! - jerome777   (Jun 09, 2013, 3:10 pm)
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that the latest Gunboat game is underway here at the Diplomaticcorp website. We're having lots of fun putting together press for the world to read, come and have a look at the dc459 messageboard.

The Spring 01 moves deadline is tomorrow evening at 2000GMT. I'm sure once the game properly gets underway, there'll be lots more fun press to us all to read.

Best,

Jerome

Mike, so is this the new site?
It does seem quick or is that the power of suggestion?

War & treason - welk   (Nov 25, 2012, 4:02 pm)
Hi gentlemen diplomates,

Gamer of Diplomacy for a long date (not online, just on boardgame version), I have created a special alternative system named : War & Treason.

This system is played with the "spirit" of Diplomacy (public actions and secret decisions), but with different mechanisms and using a combatvtable like a wargame.

I am searching 9 players who would be able to understand french, to realize the first tests of the complete system.
(because it's more easy to do test in his native langage, I am french). In second step, I will do a translation of rules for english langage.

The game system is free and not for commercial use : I will give the map and the rules as free, in french and english langage after tests (I am working on the translation). I insist for a special point : the spirit of the game is exactly the same as Diplomacy (treasons and secret), but the mechanism is very different and no any Diplomacy rule is used in game.

Public actions on map (military conquests) are dissociated by secret actions (using gold in the game). Other difference with Diplomacy is that treasons are NEVER knowed by any player( the arbitrator has obliogation to keep absolute silence about, even after the game has ended).

If you understand a little french and want try a alternative diplomatic system, please, contact me here :

http://www.lignesdebataille.org/t1456-jeu-gratuit-en-ligne-war-treason

It's a french forum but you may contact in englisgh langage if needed. To be french or to speak excellent french is not needed, you have just to understand french or to be able to understand the poor english used by frenchs frogs Smile (but a little comprehension of french would be more easy for first tests)

I would had have the possibility to play my system here, on the Diplomatic corps, using the forum, but I do not know how I could do that (my system is specially adapted for forums, it uses a simple png map managed by the arbitrator, the public posts = international forum and the privates messages = secret negociations). There are no pawns in my game system, all actions are made by CHANGING colors on
the map.

Regards

traveling abroad - bobbarkerfan1   (Aug 27, 2012, 6:57 am)
Hey everyone. It's been a while since I've played or GM'ed here, I've been really busy traveling and going to school. I was hoping some of you would be willing to help me out, I'm in a photo competition with the volunteer organization I traveled through and it ends Friday. All you need to do is enter your e-mail address and then confirm it. I appreciate it so much, and look forward to hopefully get in a few games soon. Thanks!

Diplomacy World needs articles for issue #118 by J... - FlapJack   (Jun 16, 2012, 10:52 pm)
The deadline for article submissions for issue #118 of Diplomacy World (found on the web at www.diplomacyworld.net)--the oldest hobby wide zine, having been published continuously since 1973--is again rapidly approaching on July 1.

As always I'm looking for a few good variant article, but in point of fact, I encourage you to submit any article on game of Diplomacy, the hobby or any topic related to the game of Diplomacy.

The article need not be very long, articles can be as few as a 250-300, or as much as 1500 words or more since it is an exclusive web publication, space is not an issue.

DW deadlines are four times a year at 3 month intervals so if you can't make this issue so please consider contributing to the next issue. (DW deadlines are January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 for the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall issues of DW.)

You can email me at jwmchughjr(at)gmail.com or DW editor Doug Kent at diplomacyworld(at)yahoo.com

Thanks in advance for your time and attention.

World Diplomacy Convention in Chicago - Jim-Bob   (May 20, 2012, 1:48 pm)
I want to echo Chris Martin's invitation Cool

How can you not be interested when if you come, you get to meet both Chris and me?? Thinking you won't know anyone else, then invite two other friends to come. Of all the diplomatic communities I'm part of (and I'm a joiner, so I'm part of a lot of them), I've met the fewest people here.

I'd like to meet some more of you in Chicago, think about joining us. Chris and I would be happy to answer any more questions you might have!!!

World Diplomacy Convention in Chicago - DancingQueen   (May 15, 2012, 10:04 am)
What what what?

A five-round Diplomacy tournament to crown the world champion is what. After the fourth round, the players will be ranked by their top three scores, and the seven best will compete on a top board in the final round for the world championship. All players, including those on the top board, also will vie for the titles of North American Champion and Alpha Weasel zeta, the Weasel Moot VI champion. Those two titles, as well as the official Grand Prix ranking, will be based on best three of five rounds.

More information at: http://www.windycityweasels.org/wdc

But here are the basics:

When: August 10-12, 2012.

Where: Chicago's historic Congress Plaza Hotel, 520 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60605.

How much: The entry fee is $70, $35 for students.

Preregistration will open Nov. 1. Players may preregister through August 8 for a fee of $60, $30 for students. (Weasels who have paid their 2012 dues are entitled to an additional discount of $10.)

Temporary GM needed - Sean2010   (Apr 20, 2012, 10:50 am)
Hello Everyone,

I've been forced to go out of town until the end of June on short notice. I see no reason that requesting a temporary GM for DC416 couldn't hurt. Is anyone willing to take over DC416 until June 29, 2012?

Stonehenge - jerome777   (Mar 12, 2012, 4:44 pm)
CHUFFIN' NORA!!!

There's been a rare spot available in one of the most interesting variants that exists for about three weeks now!

Rolling Eyes

I know this is Blitz season but surely one of you valiant thrillseekers out there fancy a bit of Dark Ages fun? If it helps, I'll let you sing Black Sabbath and Rainbow really loud whilst you type your orders to me - how does that sound?

Mr. Green

Come on you lot. Main season deadlines are once a week, so it's not as if you'll have to do too much work in keeping your blitzing tools sharp. First signup that joins the game gets admitted straight in. And the other nine players are nice boys and girls, they hardly ever stab, I promise...!

3 Player Chess - vegas_iwish   (Feb 24, 2012, 9:30 pm)
Flying Circus lasted 59 turns but is now complete. Next option using MS Paint to simulate a game: http://www.threechess.com/en/how-to-play-three-player-chess May not use thier full rules but this is 1 of the best I have seen. The board will not be a piece of art but should be easy to follow. Working out how to re-work the jpeg I have. Likely will use rectangualr counters for pieces as easier to move about + have worked with wargame counters recently. Let's see who is up for something different. Cool
