Unfortunately, I'm still missing Carthaginian orders for Fall 08. Normally at this point I would be seeking a replacement as Lee has no grace period remaining. But as I'm somewhat under the gun in RL here myself I figure it would be a little hypocritical of me. My apologies about the wait guys - I will adjudicate as soon as possible.

Persia builds a pair of fleets while Greece disbands their navy in the Cilician. With that, we move into Spring 08. I will set the deadline for Wednesday September 19th (11:59 PM GMT.)
Also, in case the obvious has not been obvious for everyone - the subject headers have all come from the 300 Soundtrack. However, with the Winter, the CD has spun itself to an end. With Spring 08, I will be placing a new CD into the player.

Well, if we weren't already in the end-game by now, Fall 07 pushes us over the edge. Rome continues to play footsie in Apulia, the middle of the Mediterranean fills from south to north with Carthaginian navies, Egypt hangs on by its fingernails and Persia begins to eat away at Greece like a big mint oreo cookie. (What? They had Oreos back in the Ancient Med.. I'm sure of it...)
Two retreats after the Fall moves, both from Greece. However, one was an automatic disband from Chersonesus and the other, from Apulia, had only the Adriatic Sea to fall back to. I took the liberty, but if OTB is preferred Caleb please just let me know.
Winter adjustments are fairly simple. Greece owes one disband and Persia owes two builds. We'll set the Winter deadline for Friday, September 14th (11:59 PM GMT) please.
Oh - and all the EOG proposals were scuppered. So in that respect, we're back to the drawing board. =)

I haven't listed a Roman disband for the Winter adjustments, have I? (Tell me I'm not going crazy here...)
The Apulia disband was due to the dislodgement from Ravenna and the fact that the unit had nowhere to go.

Trout, I think you should have titled your message "The Pharaoh Is Dead". Many thanks for keeping this game running smoothly.
It's definitely been an interesting game, even though I was a marked man early on. I was hoping to survive until the end, but Mike apparently needed my dot. Felix, at least you will probably get a survival when Mike solos!

And in the harsh Mediterranean winter of 09 - harsh being a relative term implying that not all the olives grew that were expected...
Two powers fail to submit orders for the Winter turn. Rather than replace these players this late in the game, Greece will fail to build and the Ionian Sea will be automatically disbanded on the Carthaginian side. This is possibly a contentious ruling, I know, so please let me know if you are displeased with this. I will listen to any arguments made to me and promise to consider them.
Meanwhile, Xerxes adds two more armies to his hordes - in Sidon and Damascus.
As I am told there is not much negotiation going on, we'll have a somewhat quicker turn deadline this season. Please have Spring 10 orders in to me by Wednesday, October 24th (11:59 PM GMT).
Also, once again, my thanks to Cory for sticking the game out and playing it through honourably.

Thanks for the patience. Spring 10 arrives in the Ancient Med and sees the Persian war machine grind forward. The Carthaginians resolve to make peace with their makers and Greece forces the Roman legions out of Etruria.
Just the roman retreat is needed for Summer 10 - options include Rhaetia, Rome or OTB. I'll set a quick deadline for this, with the retreat due Friday, October 26th (11:59 PM GMT).

And so, in the end, we all end up dancing to the slow beats of the snake charmer dude... The flying carpets zoom over-head as Persia cruises to a 19-center solo victory. Carthaginians everywhere barely look up at the news, busy as they are at turning their swords into plow-shares. And in the northern provinces, Rome ekes out a narrow survival by slipping into the quiet hills of Vindobona.
A big congratulations to Mike for the solo, and a hearty thank you to all of you players for chasing this one all the way to the end. I've always had a soft spot for the Ancient Med variant, and I seriously enjoyed seeing this one play itself out.

Hey there Mighty Warriors of the Med,
Fall 09 comes to pass and sees the Greeks storm back into Ravenna, the Carthaginians lose their grip on Massilia and, at long last, the end of the last bastion of the Pharohs in Leptis. Persia comes ever so close to the solo with 17 centres but fall just one short.
The Fall turn was bloody. Two automatic disbands and one retreat from Massilia with only Tarraconensis to fall back to. Lee, if OTB is preferred please just let me know. Otherwise we'll move straight on into the Winter turn with Persia scoring three builds, Greece scoring one and Carthage requiring one disband. Deadline will be set for Saturday, October 20th (11:59 PM GMT).
And, a note. My thanks to Cory for playing Egypt all the way through, and consistently getting his orders in with enthusiasm right to the end. I look forward to the next time you're a player in one of my games, bro.

Hi my Ancient Med Friends,
The Carthaginians arrive for battle but find themselves outmatched in Mediterranean waters, their fleet in the Messenian sinking to pay call to Atlantis. The situation in the southern deserts remains static but in the north, the Persians find themselves an opening.
No retreats required from the Fall moves, which means that we move directly into Winter 08 adjustments. Rome and Carthage attain builds, Greece needs to choose a unit to send home. Deadline for Winter 08 adjustments will be set for Wednesday, October 3rd (11:59 PM GMT) please.
In addition, we have two EOG proposals to vote on.
1. Persia-Carthage Draw
2. DIAS (Draw Including All Survivors.)
Please have your votes to me for these two proposals by the Winter deadline on Wednesday. A lack of vote will count as a no.

Warriors of the Ancient Med,
Hear me now when I speak of the legions raised and the legions lost in the cold snows of 08. The garrison in Athens is lost to the Greeks while one is formed in Neapolis to fight for Rome. Meanwhile, in Mighty Carthage, a fleet in Thapsus and an army in Cirta step forth to fight for their nation.
In addition, all diplomatic settlements to the carnage have failed. Thus the battle continues - Spring 09 Order deadline will be set for Tuesday, October 9th.

The good people of Ravenna face further reconstruction efforts as the Greeks return once more to Ravenna docks. Meanwhile, with success in Ravenna comes defeat for the Greeks in Apulia. Meanwhile, the Persians look for a hole in Carthaginian lines in the north and continue their push through Mediterranean waters - succeeding into the Ausonian Sea.
