Thanks everyone for the kind words! Just want to let you all know, I finally put up all of the results for this game on the website if you want to check it out, the Russian victory is official now!

Thanks again, you were all a great first group to GM, it made my job a lot easier with full cooperation.

All,

First off - I suck at writing long posts about what's happened in the game. I'm getting to be senile enough so that I can't remember what happened in the game last week, let alone at the start of the game.

Second: A big thank you to Joey, our tireless GM who kept track of who had and who hadn't sent in orders in time - right up until the last turn when I was the culprit. Thank you for running this game Joey.

Third: Congratulations to Tim who managed to Solo - not something that happens everyday.

Fourth: All others - we all sucked. How could we let Tim manage to Solo?

Fifth: My position. Struck out early by the Austrian, while trying to take out the Peter the Turk. Well - we managed to take Peter out, but it cost me my position. From then on I just played to survive, which I did manage in the end. Being a puppet to Austria / Russia - they basically dictated where I should go I didn't have all that much heart in the game. We did have our internal battles though and I could have been taken out by them, but in the end I did manage to survive, although not much more.

/Fredrik

Hi all:
That was good game!
I would like to thank our first time GM who did a kick ass job and made it possible.
When I ask myself what was the most memorable thing about our game I always think about poor England who ended the first year with enemy fleets in the channel and the north sea and a German army in yorkshire. This had to be the worst start I have EVER seen for England!
Even though this game is called diplomacy, the Prime Minister almost refused to engage in it and France too for that matter. Between those two I got 10 words in response max. Hats off to the Kaiser and the king of Italy who fought a good fight and played it out to the end. Apoligies to the Sultan who I think I could have worked well with. And of course thanks to the ArchDuke whose support made victory possible(he he). Seriously this was Ross's first game and I think he is going to have some great games in store for him.
Anyway thanks again all and I hope to
face you all again.
Tim.
Tsar of all Russia.

DC280 Russian victory - ros826   (Apr 18, 2010, 7:37 pm)
Dear All,
Thanks to you, I love this game.  It's starting to feel like the needed counterpart to chess:  first play the man, then play the board (Do people do post-mortems of diplomacy games?  I imagine that might involve too much profanity and not enough variations / lines...not that I am all that good at chess either!).

Anyhow, it was great fun and I hope that no one was too irked by my play (especially not Mr. Pedicini).  I definitely got a handle of how the game should flow from the great players and GM in this game.  I look forward to being a future ally, adversary, or <gulp> fodder.  No matter what, I will try to make it fun.

To those I may have seemed to cross, I apologize.  I had to look out for the people of Austria.  Let's be honest, our egos have sucked since Austerlitz.  And we both know that whatever I may have did, you saw coming way before I did it.

Most importantly, Tsar Tim, the check arrived yesterday and cleared today!!!!  Who knew dip games could be a such a good source of supplementary income in this era?!!

Best, Ross

Anyway thanks again all and I hope to face you all again.
Tim.

All,
First off - I suck at writing long posts about what's happened in the game.

DC280 Summer 1910 retreats - bobbarkerfan1   (Apr 13, 2010, 6:12 pm)
Hey everyone,

Retreats are in, and I made the same mistake as before with realpolitik disbanding the French army because of a NMR. So, here are the retreats:

ORDERS:
Austria:
A Munich - Tyrolia
France:
A Belgium - Picardy

DEADLINE:
The fall 1910 deadline will be set for ***Friday, April 16th, 9:00pm EST*** This is quite a bit shorter than what I've been making the deadlines, but you have a while to plan while retreats were taking place, and I want to get them done before weekend. If you need extra time let me know.

Have a great rest of your week everyone, and get those orders in!

DC280 Winter 1909 adjustments - bobbarkerfan1   (Apr 06, 2010, 8:21 pm)
Hey everybody,

Guess who is right on time this turn? I am back on track, and thank you for getting adjustments in on time those of you who had them. We move on to a new decade, 1910, and with it comes a number of draw proposals that will need to be voted for along with spring orders this turn. Here they are:

ADJUSTMENTS:
Austria:
Build F Trieste

France:
Remove A Holland

DRAW PROPOSALS:
Here are the proposed EoG draws:

DIAS with Russia and Austria victory
DIAS with Russia, Austria and Italy victory
DIAS with Russia, Austria and France victory
DIAS with Austria and France victory
DIAS with Austria, France and Italy victory

If you can send me a "yes" or "no" vote for each individual draw proposal that would be great. Not sure what the chances are of multiple draws passing, but if that does indeed happen I will check the rules and make sure I take the appropriate action.

DEADLINE:
You had a decent amount of time for the winter period to negotiate, but there are a few EoGs that need to be voted for, so I'll make the spring 1910 deadline ***Saturday, April 10th, 9:00pm EST*** If this doesn't work for anybody let me know and I can add time or whatever is necessary.

PLAYERS:
Ctry : Russia
Name : Tim Fuhrmeister

Hey everyone,

I am going to be out for the rest of the night and have to get up early tomorrow morning, so I am letting you all know that I won't be able to adjudicate until around 3:00pm EST Saturday(tomorrow) so you will have a little extra time to use as you please. With this extension, I hope that nobody misses this deadline!

DC280 Fall 1908 adjudication - bobbarkerfan1   (Mar 19, 2010, 7:45 pm)
Hey everyone.

I apologize for not getting this out Tuesday. I got this game confused with my other game, and thought I had set the deadline of both to tonight. It wasn't until I just checked my sent folder and saw the deadline that I realized the deadline was Tuesday. I'm sorry about that, I'm going to start putting these things down on my calendar now so I don't forget. Here are your results:

1.)Draw including all survivors - FAILS
2.)Draw between Russia and Austria with survival for everyone else - FAILS
3.)Draw between Russia, Austria and France with survival for everyone else - FAILS

I got a few e-mails regarding how the voting works. Again, I apologize for not clearing this up beforehand, I will take note in the future, this is still my first go at GMing, so bear with me. The vote passes if all remaining players vote "yes". A vote fails if at least one player doesn't vote or votes "no". Also, if multiple votes pass, the vote that includes the most survivors will be used. Hopefully that answers your questions.

ORDERS:
Russia:
Build F St Petersburg(nc)
Build A Warsaw

DEADLINE:
The deadline(that I will remember this time) for spring 1909 will be ***Friday, March 26th, 9:00pm EST*** This is so that I remember what day it is, and I have more time on the weekends. If I get orders from everyone marked "final" then I will adjudicate early.

DC280 Fall 1908 adjudication - bobbarkerfan1   (Mar 13, 2010, 11:14 am)
Sorry I didn't get this out last night everyone, but I thank you all for getting orders in before the deadline. We have very sad news this turn. The kaiser has fallen. I appreciate your efforts and staying with the game Jeff, thanks! I just disbanded your army instead of retreating it because a disband would need to be ordered in the winter anyway. But to get back to the fall, a summary of events. The Russians pick up the two German SCs, but aside from that achieve very little. The Italians retreat back into Africa, and somehow still hold onto Smyrna. The French use all their units for defensive measures, and Austria begins a northward push. And finally, we have draw proposals!

1.)Draw including all survivors
2.)Draw between Russia and Austria with survival for everyone else
3.)Draw between Russia, Austria and France with survival for everyone else

If you could include a "yes" or "no" vote for each one of these with your adjustments(or if you don't have adjustments then just send me your vote) that would be great. A vote not received will just be marked as a "no" vote, so keep that in mind!

DC280 summer 1908 retreat - bobbarkerfan1   (Mar 07, 2010, 12:51 pm)
Hey everyone,

The French have decided to retreat from Gulf of Lyon to Marseilles.

DEADLINE:
The deadline for Fall 1908 will be ***Friday, March 12th, 9:00pm EST*** Hopefully you have enough time, if not just ask for some extra. And please send me prelim orders to avoid NMRs, because only the Italians have a grace period left, so anyone else who misses a deadline will just get a NMR.

Have a good week!

DC280 spring 1908 adjudications - bobbarkerfan1   (Mar 06, 2010, 10:14 am)
Hey everyone,

Sorry about the delay. The Archduke and the Kaiser both missed the deadline. The Germans have already used their grace period though, and to remain consistant with my ruling in this game, I am not going to give the Germans an NMR. As for the Austrians, they had a grace period left, and I just got the Archduke's orders so his moves have been received and they are now without a grace period. The only player with his grace period left is Fredrik of Italy. I advise you all to follow his lead in sending in preliminary orders to avoid missing a deadline. If you change your mind later, just send in a new set of orders. With that being said, this spring was very interesting. The Austrians and Russians continue to play defensively. Russia makes an advance into Kiel, leaving the Germans with only 1 SC. The French fleet in GOL is pushed back, and will have to retreat this summer. And while all of this is happening, the Italians continue to hide in Northern Africa. Here are the results:

Good evening,

We have another turn with no Russian activity. I have been in contact with you Tim, so I don't think there is a need to find a replacement unless you think you need one. Fortunately for you, you have not really been getting attacked. Going into this winter, France is the only country that gained or lost supply centers, gaining 2 of them. So good job Mark. If I can get orders from everyone that'd be great! Nobody likes NMRs, or getting replaced...at least I don't.
