WOT game - Hold - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear All.

Thankyou for welcoming me into this game. My name is Artur Hawkwing and i have been reluctantly dragged into
this war even though i told myself i did not have time to do so. However i hope to unitre the midlands and
bring peace to our nation before the Aiel, Trollocs or anything invades.

Please write to me at this email address and i will happily work with anyone who emails me... I will get my strategic
battle plans and emails out soon...

(apologies if anyone has already assumed this persona, I honestly did not plan to play but after discussing the
game with someone my interest was peaked again and i saw it was in trouble of not starting)

.ExternalClass DIV {;} Well I am sorry to say I have had no response from 2 players.
Stephen The Penguin has offered to fill one slot, so we will need one more to get things rolling again.

I am really sorry for this further delay.

Stephen, if you would like to take the Midlands, you can start negotiations now.
We will continue to search for a Lord Captain Commander for the Whitecloaks.

I will keep you all posted as this progresses.

minor correction in fall 1906 adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Andrew pointed out to me that I mis-entered one of his orders in fall 1906; fortunately, the error did not change any results. My apologies for the mistake.

In the original adjudication, I had listed A Rumania Supports F Bulgaria(ec). The order should have been A Rumania Supports A Budapest.

Since there was no impact on position, I am not sending anything new now. It will be corrected for historical accuracy in the next RP file I send with the winter 1906 adjustments. This should come later today, as I have received build orders from both Andrew and Dorian. If either of you have any changes, you still have about 5 hours left before the deadline.

Uh, huh... You're Artur Hawkwing? Right... I think the Aes Sedai must have missed trying to 'gentle' you. It is clearly time to call in the white coats (white cloaks?).

Seriously though, why is it that everyone has to role-play a great leader? Everyone wants to be a Ceasar or an Alexander the Great. You never see anyone who says "I'm Oprah and I will rule your world!" Or "Hey kids! I'm Pee-Wee Herman and I'm going to sweep through your supply centers Ha! Ha!"

Ah well, game on then!

DC 116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 06 Deadline Extensio... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi gents,

Well, we seem to be two sets of orders short for the Fall 1906 turn. However, on reviewing my records I see that Doug sent me word during the Spring turn that he would be out of town for a few days. I then went and scheduled the Fall deadline for a relatively short period (5 days..) That was my bad, and as such we'll extend a couple days to hopefully allow Doug to get into touch.

Revised Fall 06 deadline will be set for Monday, November 19th (11:59 PM GMT). Sorry guys - this one's on me.

Diplomatic Corp Newsletter, Number 4 : November. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
ello All,

Welcome to my newsletter number 4. (some of you may get this twice as
i will be using the ol' cut and paste and sending via the new site
www.diplomaticcorp.com)

Thanks to the many people (okay 2 people) who have been asking after
my newsletters.... I've been a little unwell of late and not able to
keep up with my games (of which i discovered i'm overloaded!!) so it's
been a long time in coming.

1) General Hello

Hello to all our new members. For those who don't know me, I'm Steve
(aka Deathblade_penguin) moderator of Dc. I mainly deal with the GMs
and look after the games whilst my fellow mods (Mike Sims and Trout)
keep the site running.

Man we have a lot of games running at the moment with a lot of players
in those games. Many people ask me - why we are restricting new
members to play one game, or even why we are restricting new Gms to
play one game as well.. well it's simply a matter of, in past
experiences we've found that not every player recognises the
commitment a game needs (often 6-8 months) and some people can find it
easy to get overloaded with games (hey trust me as an experienced
player i've let myself get overloaded too).. so it's just a way of
trying to get those games running smoothly. For those of you who are
in a game suffering from CD from missing players you can see why.

However, if you are a new player and see a second game you want to
sugn up for, just drop your GM a line and they will talk to us.. (wink
wink nudge nudge, say no more)

2) Exciting NEW VARIANTS.
Man as nice as it is to play a standard game of diplomacy, sometimes
it is nice to get in a game that is a variant - something slightly
different and do we have a great range on offer.

Currently for those diplomacy addicts, Felix needs players for his
express gunboat game. Fast Deadlines.. and run by a very efficient Gm.

For those who like the slower pace we have a Youngstown variant, Hugh
is running his engineer variant, Trout's got his pandamoniom (which he
may seek players for) and I am goign to run both a Twilight Zone
diplomacy and a deluge variant. Wondering what all this means. email
me at steve(at)hotmail.com and i will tell you. or go to
www.diplomaticcorp.com and check out the OPEN GAMES site.

In fact, any questions or anything - just email me

3) Movement of Games.

As those of still follow the yahoo group, we've been moving a lot of
the new games across to their own boards there. There is also a
section called commonspace where we would like to recreate this
message board.

4) Well isn't Heroes exciting at the moment. We in Australia are a
week behind but still i thought it was fairly obvious about ol' Adam
Monroe hey,

Okay - that's it from me for this week. Any suggestions or improvment
or comments you have, please feel free to direct to the message boards
or to me at stevelytton(at)hotmail.com

WOT - Back On!!! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Ok, we have a Full House again.
Just a few quick notes:
1. Both new players (Stephen Lytton, the Deathblade Penguin and Sean Ward, Wardus) know eachother in the Real World.
2. A request has been made that since no moves have been executed, and 5 nations have already made their alliances and plans, that it would be more 'fair' and a better representation of the map for the playtest if we reshuffled the nations and leveled the playing field.
I will put it to a vote, to close Wednesday. Everyone please respond by then with your opinion. If the vote is No, we will have our first deadline on Friday (at)9pm eastern US time.

WOT - On Hold, Again - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I am really sorry to all, but we had another player pull out, from DC all together.
We are looking for one more player, and when found I will reset the nations, to be fair to the replacements, now almost half our players.
I am really sorry for all the trouble we have had getting this off the ground, and I really appreciate all your patience.

DC 116 Vogon's Revenge - Fall 06 - As The Stars Fa... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
In Burgundy hills German luck did run out
The Italian tossing him as old saurkraut
Paris, the green move did save
But France showed no love o'er wave
As boats in Mid 'lantic bounced 'bout

---------------------------------------------

It was a rough turn for Germany indeed, as Italy cut the crucial support in Burgundy. The Dutch and Belgian lowlands both taken by Russia and England respectively, we find ourselves bidding Auf Viedersehn to Mikael. Thanks for stepping into a tough position, Mikael, and toughing it out even though you were shown nothing but twisted blades. =)

Meanwhile, the situation grows more dire for France as Liverpool is taken, Austria recovers some lost ground and gains a build, and Turkey literally stops everything the Cossacks throw at him in their tracks.

One retreat necessary before moving onto Winter adjustments. While Turkey stopped the onslaught from the north, Italy did sneak an army across the Ionian into Albania. The Turkish fleet there may retreat to the Adriatic, Greece or OTB. Mike, please have the retreat to me by Wednesday, November 21st (11:59 PM GMT.)

ALSO! Please note that we are the next game to switch to the new forum system. If you go to the website (www.diplomaticcorp.com) and click on 'Message Board' at the top of the screen, you will find the forum. I believe Mike has posted some notes as to the steps required to sign up for it. If you have any trouble though, please just let me know. I'll make a new topic in the DC116 forum for signing in. When you manage to find it, please post a reply in this topic shouting out that you are, indeed, signed onto the forum.

That should be it, less you all spot any mistakes. Please let me know if you do. Thanks again, Mikael - your presence in the game was GREATLY appreciated.

Cheers!

Trout

Japanese Diplomacy - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I've created a map of Japan including Korea as well as parts of China and Russia with 38 supply centres. Not particularly true to life politically but with scope, I hope, for decent gameplay.

I've been wanting to play on a map of this type for a while but unfortunately haven't found one suitable, the Sengoku map not dealing with the mainland countries of Asia.

However I do need some help to create an RP file for it as well as suitable territory names. Any help or advice would be appreciated, and once done I would be happy to GM a trial of it.

I would cut down on a few of those sea territories, but other then that, you need to make a border version of the map (B&W border lines only) and then build a mapping file. RP has a really good help file on everything you need to do.

Next FOW - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
If anybody out there in dc118 or dc122 would NOT want to play in next year’s FOW but would rather help critique and pseudo-play-test the map, pls let me know in private.

For those interested, next year’s fog will be a 19-player mega-fog.

Note this game will start out gunboat style… (a suggestion many have asked for) You will only learn who your neighbors are as you discover them. You won’t know who’s playing pre-game until you meet them in-game. (and then it’s open diplomacy w those civilizations you’ve met).

Again pls let me know in private, not public post.

RE005 has a Bond Market Game! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
You can speculate on which country might win the game. To see start up positions and to gather more information on the game go to the below HTML page. This game has a simple Fighter Unit so Italy is not a weak power, and Russia can cause Turkey some difficulty in the early going.
