DC350: Game End! - dknemeyer   (Apr 03, 2011, 4:56 pm)
Hi Everyone,

Matthew, thanks for being such a reliable and timely GM. I look forward to playing in a game you helm in the future.

Overall this was a game dictated more by who was reliable and who was not. Unreliable players and all-too-frequent NMR's meant that deciding who to trust and what tactics to employ was as much about having a sense of who would actually be submitting orders - or not! As such this certainly won't go down as a classic but, in trying to navigate the fickleness of participation, had its own interesting-if-different problems to wrap your head around.

The high point for me was working closely with Jerome. By nature I am an alliance player, so our long-term cooperation - really since the earliest turns of the game, despite our claims to the contrary! - was a pleasure. Of course it made the decisive stab harder to execute as well. I rather would have thought he was an ass so there would be no remorse in that case. Smile

Thanks to everyone who saw it to the end, particularly Baz whose position was near-hopeless years ago yet continued to submit orders and help the game conclude in a positive way.

Hope to see the reliable ones among us again, soon!

Dirk

Good evening gentlemen

First of all, congratulations to Dirk on a successful outcome to a very skillfully-played game.

Many thanks to Matthew for keeping us all in order, including coping with two abandonments and a frustrating number of NMRs.

Finally - good luck to all of us in future games. Until next time .........

Hi all,
Many thanks to Matthew for doing a great job in this game, and best wishes to all of my opponents in this game. To those of you I stabbed (almost all of you I think), I hope you get the chance to get your own back in another game soon...
This was my first game of Diplomacy and I feel I learned one heck of a lot from playing with you guys, particularly when plotting and scheming with Dirk. I'd like to offer Dirk my congratulations for soloing thee game and also thanks for helping me develop my play.
Best of luck everybody for your future Dipping,
Jerome

We're once again missing German orders, so another NMR is issued. As this is the second consecutive NMR, Germany enters Civil Disorder. In this case, at my discretion, I will not seek a replacement for Tim; Germany will remain in CD for the remainder of the game.

We also this round witness the first elimination. Austria has finally run out of support, and so we must bid adieu to Jason. Jason, you are welcome to send out an end-of-game message to the group.

Both proposals fail. We will continue to have one main major season per week.

We have just one retreat. There's only one way for it to go, though, so we have:
Austria:
A Vienna - Bohemia
Jason, if you'd rather disband then let me know by Tuesday at 05:00GMT.

Finally, we have two proposals.
1. Turn length: it is proposed that major season deadlines are shortened as we enter the later part of the game. We'll do one day for minor seasons and three days for major seasons. We need unanimous agreement to do this, but I'm going to count any missing votes as Ayes.
2. End-of-game: it is proposed that the game end in a Russian solo. Everyone else will receive survivals. This requires unanimous agreement in order to pass, but in this case missing orders will count as Nays.

Fall 1906 and votes are due on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at 05:00GMT.
Cheers,
Matthew

DC350: 12h for Fall 1904 - Rocketship   (Feb 18, 2011, 2:16 am)
Hi Folks,
Two mistakes on that past adjudication:
First, I had one of France's orders incorrect:
A Bur S F Eng -> Bel
Second, for some reason I overlooked that I was also missing Turkey's orders. Terribly sorry about that; I'm not quite sure what to say. In any event, missing orders are missing orders, so that's still an NMR.
Please accept me apologies for the errors.
