dc389 game end - Draw! England EOG - jerome777   (Sep 22, 2011, 2:48 pm)
Hi all,

First-off, thanks to Mike for GMing the game. I know how busy you are, mate - even on top of having a new baby to deal with you still have loads on your plate at present. I'd also like to echo France's thanks to you all for playing a totally NMR-free game.

As a rookie player I'm still eager to learn how to play this marvellous game of ours, and I'd say that I learned a lot from this game. It was a particular pleasure playing with France both before but also especially after the Russian stab - Brian, you are a fine player and I just wish that I'd not stabbed you at all. This would have given the two of us a chance to at least have found a defendable stalemate line, if not to have done better out of the game. I
hope to come across you in future games, whether as foe, or hopefully as friend, so that I can continue to learn from you.

I'd also like to thank the four of you for voting for the draw, as you promised you would.

Jerome

Just like that, we have a 2-way A-R draw.  5 votes in favor.  Congrats guys!  That was a fantastic bit of teamwork there... EOG statements welcome by all.  Personally I'd have liked to see it play out, and make the two benefactors prove they wouldn't stab the other.  Now we'll never know... But a Win is a Win, and a Survival is a Survival, especially for Italy who hangs on by a dot down to his last turn.

dc389 game end - France EOG - briankingfox   (Sep 20, 2011, 8:52 pm)
Dear All

Thanks Mike for GMing the game. And thanks for all players
that we have NO NMR in this game, this is probably my first game with no NMR.
Great job!

France and England have been working together since the
beginning of the game. Perhaps the first German Kaiser didn't talk and the
second Kaiser's suggestions are not attractive, I choose to stick with England.
Frankly, I don't totally trust England, and so I moved into MAO in 1902 for
defensive purpose. But it ended look like I am going to take England
and make England not happy. I had been thought through this for nights, but
finally I choose not to do so because I see Turkey is in big trouble facing
attacks from other three.

I worry there was a triple alliance among Russia, Austria and
Italy, so I decided to enter Mediterranean and encourage Austria to attack Italy
with me and stab Russia. I also told England that the likely triple alliance and
suggested to hold our Maginot line at Germany and focus
on Scandinavia. But unfortunately, England chose to stab me, while Austria
and Russia kept working together throughout the game.

Should Russia did not attack England in mid-game, I believe I
would have defeated by England. Yet Russia's attack bring England and I re-ally
again. I thought that if we stand together, Austria will stab Russia one day for
Solo Victory, and England and France would stop Solo and ended with 3-way draw.
But the expected stab never comes.

The game finally draw at the Maginot line I had proposed.

If I had stabbed England in early game, but provided that the
triple alliance (or Austro-Russian alliance) stay close, the result would be
likely 2-way draw as well...

I really want to know how Austria and Russia think
during the game.

Thanks for all, and have a nice stab/stick in future
game!

Brian

No moves from Italy, tho he holds the TYS as a major naval battle clashes around his lone fleet... both sides retreat, leaving the Italian untouched.  In France, Pie is dislodged but it can only go to Mar so I just moved it.  Draw fails to pass... two more are proposed for fall... a 3-way AER and a 2-way AR.  Vote yay / nay with fall orders - which are due Monday!  9/19, 3pm Central.

Enjoy,

Zachary was born a little over 2 hours ago… One player in my other game alleged that the timeliness of Dip results was inversely proportional to the number of kids one has… I think this bucks that trend.  Smile

English A Mun could only go to Burgundy, so I just moved it there.  If OTB is preferred just let the group know otherwise it stands in 24 hours.

There are 2 retreats, and either player may opt for off-the-board, but I don't think that's likely so I just moved them...

Russia: F Denmark - Baltic Sea

Turkey: A Armenia - Ankara

NEXT:  Fall 03 due Monday 7/25, 3pm Central!

Also - shameless plug - if anyone buys or sells stuff online, I'm rolling out a new website.  Log in, have a stroll about, open a store, and sell!  Currently in final beta stages, but I'd like some victims to try things out and see what doesn't work.  Much of the dc website code was used / improved here... www.pieceparts.com.

Clashes all over the place – Skaggerak is the center of a bounce that sets all sorts of units back, while the south is no more peaceful with battles in Greece and Rumania… Italy sets up a classic Lepanto… and France has all sorts of options… Should be an interesting Fall – Due Tuesday!  July 12, 3pm Central.  There is one retreat but I just moved Turk A Con-Bul since it’s really the only option.

Enjoy,
