New here - WaltonFeep   (Dec 12, 2015, 2:03 pm)
Hello all,

I haven't play PBEM Dip in many years but was a very active player and GM from 1987-1997. I was part of a group called Cat23 and was the founder of SCD. I went by Dr. Wu and before that "the crow".

I am looking to get in a PBEM game and have at least one friend that is also looking. Is this the place to play? I hate NMRs.

Looking forward to a game. If there is a game with two openings I would be interested.

Hi everyone,

We have two slots open for replacements in dc539. The slots are for France and Turkey, and both positions are pretty reasonable. Additionally, since this is only Spring 02, the game is still very young.

Reply to this post, or email me, if you're willing to join the game.

We need a replacement for the first ever game of my new variant, Warring States. The position, Yan (yellow), is good, only in the second year so the field is wide open.

You say you never get a good country but won't play a game where every country is the same. Strange. Let's fill this. Do I have to post an Executive Decision board (the old 3M game)& run 1 of those? Has no dice so skillful according to lovers of Dip tho not of wargames Smile

Wish I had some time. Have played Milan 3 times as Italy & soloed each 1 which is not normal for me. French players just don't adapt...

MILAN!!! - jerome777   (Nov 25, 2014, 2:15 pm)
Now then everyone,

There's a new variant game recruiting, Milan!

I think it's about time we gave this interesting variant a try. Italy's role on the standard map (and by extension, the other players too) is dramatically changed by some radical redesign to the northern Italian provinces and borders.

So, if that pre-Winter Blitz malaise is threatening to take root, all is not lost...

Come'an'aveagoifyerthinkyer'ardenuff!

Invitation to new 1648 game - charlesf   (Nov 03, 2014, 9:03 am)
Poul,

thanks for your kind words regarding 1648.

I regret how things went when we met previously. For my part, I was too heavy-handed in my anti-gunboating efforts. I've since learnt my lesson and have adopted a different approach. More thorough vetting up-front, no badgering players regarding their press levels in-game.

But I continue to ask players to CC me. It's invaluable for me as a designer in playtesting.

Charles,

it's a really exciting and well-constructed variant. I just can't accept having to cc you on every mail, and having you comment on the number of mails I send and read. If you remove that part of your playtesting, I will gladly play in this one.

WHAT'S 1648 ABOUT?

1648 is a nine-player Diplomacy variant set in Europe following the Peace of Westphalia.

1648's rules are based upon those of Ambition & Empire, a variant designed by Jeff Kase and Baron Powell. As its most striking departure from Standard Diplomacy, the latter first featured armed neutrals whose actions players may secretly influence by bidding Diplomacy Points (DPs).

This simple rule creates a whole new layer of decision-making and opens up many intriguing possibilities.

For further details, see 1648's dipwiki entry:

http://www.dipwiki.com/index.php?title=1648_v4.3

WHAT ARE PLAYTESTERS SAYING?

I think it's fair to say that playtester have been very enthusiastic about the game. The rate of repeat-customers is high. Some have said that 1648's their favourite way of playing Diplomacy on a European map. Or any map, for that matter.

Give it a try. Chances are you'll find it a memorable experience.
