DC127 - back on track - douglasefresh at googl...   (Mar 19, 2008, 12:12 pm)
Dear All,

England is back in the fold. I shall send out Winter maps tomorrow. Deadline for Spring shall be next Tuesday at 3pm GMT. I have orders from some of you, but please check the maps tomorrow and reassess your orders based on those. Congratulations for surviving and thriving thusfar - I'm looking forward to an interesting end-game with the three of you. That said, I reserve the right to replace any powers who are not able to send any orders in on time.

I'm sure we all still have plenty to learn Smile

Kind regards
D

Doug, Matt,

if Alf doesn't come back to us - I sure hope all is well with Alf - I also favour a replacement for England as it will keep the game more interesting. Whoever signs up for running England will definitely have an interesting play with plenty of opportunities.

Dear Players,

No word from Alf. Alf if you're out there, i hope you're well - get in touch if you can.

Now that the game is down to three players I do not wish to scupper the position by playing on with just two of you - especially when everything hangs in the balance. Despite the fact that I did not want to use replacements in this game, I think that the only realistic way of getting any satisfaction from this end-game is to recruit a replacement England, if Alf doesn't get in touch.

I'll start putting feelers out for a suitable player, but please be aware that there will need to be a pause in the game to bring whoever steps in up to speed.

If you do not wish me to seek a replacement, I'd suggest we call it a day.

Please let me know your thoughts (CC all on this mail in, so we can keep an open dialogue)

Kind regards

DC127 - Game End - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Yes thanks all for a great game. I'll admit I had my eyes set on a solo
for a while but it just wasn't to be. Frank I must admit that was one
of the shakiest alliances I've ever had and yet it held for so long.
From my end, in case you were wondering, I just never saw an advantage
to turning on you until the very end, despite your numerous stab
attempts and many excuses to not support me to Con. Same holds with you
and StP, Alf. Dip players can be so stubborn - I'm not surprised those
Russian and Turkish units were there until the end; better to waste the
resources than let someone else have them!

Anyways thanks for a fun one, especially to you Doug. Hope to play with
you all again soon.

Matt

F Bielschowsky wrote:

Thanks everyone. It was a great game, despite some drop-outs and
technical glitches.

Matt,
you did great in playing AH. Not an easy Power to play, but you
quickly managed to become the largest of us. And you always kept me
puzzled of your true intentions. Just as you probably were puzzled of
mine. We had a great pact together but it always felt like we had to
watch our backs, dont you agree. That makes it even more surprising
that it lasted so long. ANd of course, yes, we had an advantage with
Turkey dropping out early.

Alf,
enjoyed orchestrating our moves together albeit only later in the
game. In the early stages you often left me wondering what your real
targets were. No doubt France played a role in adding some of the
noise. Also early in the game you, I, and even France, found we had a
common enemy: Germany had broken just too many promises and had run an
erratic course. And as a result you almost went down. So it was great
to see you making such a great comeback.

Doug,
thanks for your GMing. It must have been difficult at times. Players
with NMRs and even NBRs, technical problems (did you manage to get it
working on the Apple? I'm considering buying one myself and of course
would like to run RealPolitik on it), gaming questions that would
drive you nuts (aplogies if I did), and update on update for the orders...
If it means anything: you definitely raised my interest in trying
GMing it myself on short notice (if I pass DCs judgement, that is).

Looking fwd to meet you again in future games.
Frank (Italy / bielf11)

Congratulations to you all and thanks very much for your sterling
work.
I hope your next game is not so fraught with NMRs and sloppy GMing Smile

DC127 - Technical Problems - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear Players,

I don't know whether there is a bug in Realpolitik, but I have had it pointed out by one of our players that France's fleet MAR seems to have disappeared without good reason. I'm not sure why it hasn't given retreat to Gulf of Lyon as an option...

I will look into this and get back to you all as soon as possible.

Our French player did get back in touch I would welcome your thoughts of course - especially any CC'd GMs who may have had a similar experience with realpolitik - but I think for the moment we must assume there is a French Fleet in Lyo. How I sort a map out to represent this, I am not sure yet, but I may end up adjudicating by hand.

Apologies for this technical hitch.
