dc179 Blackmarch F04 Results! - Retreats Needed; B... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
New Alliances Forming?
England Surges Into a Tie with Russia.
The Witch and the Bear Command the Board with 10 each.
Italy Tries to Figure in the Final Tally with 6.
Germany Decimated on All Sides.

Okay...several different scenarios here:

Austrian F Bul(sc) is forced to retreat. I retreated to the only option
AEG but then he needed a disband so I took it since the unit in Gre
occuppied a center. IF THIS IS NOT OKAY, let me know. You could
keep the F in AEG and disband Gre as an alternative.

Russian F Swe is forced to retreat. He has options - Fin, GoB, or OTB
[off the board]. IF OTB, then you will get 2 builds instead of 1.

French A Spa is disbanded by the GM.

We can take these retreats first. Due to me about to leave to see family for the US holiday [where I don't have the program to adjudicate], these are due Sunday the 6th at 5pm CST. Then we will have 48 hours for the builds/disbands [until Tuesday the 8th at 5pm CST]. IF you want to go ahead and send orders for builds/disbands without seeing the retreats, you may do so. If I get orders all marked final before Tuesday then I will go ahead and proceed. If not, update coming Sunday.

Builds/Disbands:
England Build 3
Germany Disband 2
Italy Build 2
Russia Build 1 [or 2 depending on retreat above]

Reminder - our deadline is next week, Wednesday July 2nd.

It was pointed out to me that I neglected to send out an updated map post-retreats from the Spring.
Attached is that update.

Remember - the shading of the home centers represents who owned them in the Fall. That way it should help show who has centers at risk and where.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Blackmarch dc179 - S04 Results - Retreat Needed - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All kinds of interesting shifts. One thing seems certain I fear -
the Turks may have to get used to purple robes and vodka.
Too many crazy moves for me to even begin to understand the dynamics.
I can't wait to see the next turn!

Several notes of business. There were many retreats. Some of them had no real options so I went ahead and did them.

Austrian A Tri - retreatd to Bud [we can retreat OTB if Joe wishes]
Austrian A Ser - retreated to Gre [again, OTB is an option if Joe wishes]
England A Bel - retreated to Hol [OTB is an option if Matt wishes]
England F NTH - NEED A RETREAT FOR THIS ONE. Many options: Edi, HEL, Lon, NWG, Nwy, Yor

Please send this to me today [if possible] and I will send out an updated view.

One other IMPORTANT NOTE: the map attached shows ownership of centers as they were entering the Spring. Thus,
even though Italy currently has a F docked in Tri, it started the turn Austrian so it is still brown. Hopefully this
helps you guys realize what units could change hands in the Fall.

Either way, our next deadline is a bit longer due to player request. Our deadline for Fall1904 is July 2nd, 5pm CST.

DC179 Blackmarch - Fall 1903 - Here We Go Again...... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
No orders received from both France AND Italy. We officially begin the 24 hour grace period for Italy
because he has yet to receive a grace period. France benefits from that IF he submits orders within
the time period. The grace period is until 5pm CST 5Jun08.

If no orders received from either player, this turn will be an NMR for either/both.

Sorry for the delay.

Heya folks of the March,

Spring 1903 grooves on without a hitch. Turkey and France feel the heat as the former draws fire from the Russians and Austrians while Germany shows the latter the door in Burgundy. France had the only retreat from the Spring moves - as Picardy was the only option other than OTB I took the liberty. However, if our fearless Frenchman wishes to retreat OTB instead, please just let me know and I will correct the adjudication.

My thanks for everyone for the patience during this Troutish interlude... I happily return you to the hands of your regular GM. Deadline for Fall 1903 will be set for Wednesday, June 4th (11:59 PM GMT) or as later announced by Garry.

If you spot an error, please just drop me a line. Cheers everyone!

Cheers everyone!

dc179 Blackmarch F04 Retreats In...A bit different... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
As such, I will allow for updated build/disband orders until Tuesday the 8th at 5pm CST. The updates are:

F Bul(sc) DOES in fact retreat to AEG; thus Austria will have to disband either it or A Gre [I can always appreciate someone
playing it close to the vest to have a bargaining chip!]

F Swe retreats to GoB

If that affects any build/disband orders sent in, you have until tomorrow at 5pm.

MAP NOTE: I will send an update after build/disband orders.

Joe - please confirm which you would like disbanded.
Will - the retreat means that you only get 1 build.

All - sorry for the slight delay. I had a bit of an issue confirming one of the retreats.

All the best.

If not, update coming Sunday.

dc179 Blackmarch F04 GM ERROR - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All,
Living proof that GMs are quite human - I misinterpreted the results and stated that Russia could retreat AND still get a build.
That was in fact WRONG; he could retreat OR get a build. I have asked him to re-evaluate his retreat to discern
whether he wants that or a build. Thus we are delayed for 24 hours.

This is COMPLETELY my error. As such, I am willing to ALSO re-evaluate builds submitted depending on Russia's choice.
IF Russia chooses to retreat in lieu of a build, we shall all know and I will need build confirmations [as well as retreats] from England,
Italy and Germany. I am VERY sorry for the delay and trouble.

dc179 Blackmarch - Back on Track - NEW Italian Lea... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Well, I've just learned that you guys are voting to end the game. Looking at it from the outside I'd say there looks like there's a lot of game left in it, but obviously that is your decision. I just joined to help you guys out.

p.s. A draw in 1904? Is that for real? I can't imagine.

dc179 Blackmarch F04 GM ERROR - Russian Retreat Co... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All,
Russia has confirmed his retreat - Swe to GoB. Thus no Russian build.

Can Italy, England and Germany confirm that their build/disband orders stand as ordered please?

Thanks. Sorry again for the confusion.

Subject: dc179 Blackmarch F04 Retreats In...A bit different than the GM Suggested

.ExternalClass .EC_hmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.EC_hmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Tahoma;} As such, I will allow for updated build/disband orders until Tuesday the 8th at 5pm CST.

LotM

DC179 Blackmarch - Spring 1903 Correction - Trout,... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey folks,

Sheepishly, I find that I need to issue a correction. Italy moved to Ionian with support, not the Tyrrhenian as shown in the adjudication. Apologies for any confusion, and my thanks to the players who caught the GM lapse. (I blame myself.. Well, society, my parents and myself. Okay - mostly just society... Hell - its not MY fault at all!) =P

You'll find attached the corrected map. Sorry for the muddle.

Cheers!

dc179 Blackmarch S02 Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All,
It is approximately 8 hours until our deadline. I am still missing a couple of sets of orders. Please send them along. We resume tonight assuming that I get all the appropriate orders.
Remember, if you have no confirmation, you have no orders. I HAVE caught up on sending all confirmations from being out of town.

.ExternalClass .EC_hmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.EC_hmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Tahoma;} All,
{sigh}. Your GM has had to make a tough decision. I deliberated and got a second opinion and finally came to this decision. This decision affects our timeline and our current round.

Situation - France submitted a build order; however, I never received it AND he had no confirmation email from me stating such. According to the strictest letter of the law, it is the
PLAYER'S responsibility to ensure that I have received their orders and that they have confirmation. In fact, I have received more than one email from at least one of you when you
had yet to receive my confirmation. The question here is whether or not to allow the build that France showed me in the email that he forwarded me. In Steven's defense, I should have
probably sent him an email with a grace period stating that I had not received his build and I failed to do so. Based on the build AND the situation of the game, I feel like this was not
an attempt to beat the game but rather just an unfortunate event.

AS SUCH, I am going to allow the build [F in Mar] for W01. Several factors were weighed, not least amongst which were the timing in the game [I would NOT have allowed it later in a game
most likely because the impact would probably have been MUCH greater]. This decision is final! Hopefully all concur that I am trying to do what is the right thing for the spirit of the game.

Where that leaves us is in a bit of a delay. Today was the day for our S02 deadline. Given the new news, that is not a timeline that we need to keep. Instead, let's push our deadline for S02
back until Monday May 12th at 5pm CST.

GIVEN THIS EXAMPLE, PLEASE remember that orders are not complete until CONFIRMED by me. I do my best to confirm at least every few days. In cases where I cannot [due to travel], I will
do my best to let you know that confirmations will be slow. IF you do not have confirmed orders, you should send them again AND copy to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com ([email]orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com[/email]). That is a mailbox from
which orders can be retrieved later if there is any question/concern. To keep this mailbox from becoming overloaded, please ONLY do this when you feel the need to send a second set because
you don't have confirmation. I cannot stress enough that ensuring that orders are received IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PLAYER!

That said, I may not be able to confirm orders Friday or Saturday. Sunday confirmation will be late in the day. Thus I set the Monday deadline so that you can be sure that you received confirmations.

I apologize for our detour here but I do feel that this is the right thing to do AND is the right thing for the spirit of the game.

LotM

I will be able to adjudicate before I leave town but then retreats, if needed, won't be adjudicated until late Sunday.

EVERYONE wants Munich but Germany holds true.
Russia and Turkey seem to be on the same page...in the wrong way!
Bounces abound, most by Russia and Turkey.
AND France foregoes a guaranteed build in Por to gain entry into the
Med.
An interesting 1902 awaits! Too early to see what alliances hold.

Ah...once again a misorder [this time outlined in the orders below]. As previously committed, builds are due Monday, May 5th at 5pm CST. No retreats are required.

Point of inquiry - what should be our next deadline beyond that? I will be out of town Friday 9th to Sunday 11th. Should we hold orders for Spring 1902 until Sunday OR try to fit in orders by Thursday 5pm on the 8th? Majority rules. In light of votes, we will default to the LATER deadline to make sure that all get a proper chance to play the game.

outlined in the orders below]. As previously committed,
builds are due Monday, May 5th at 5pm CST. No retreats are
required. Point of inquiry - what should be our next
deadline beyond that? I will be out of town Friday 9th to
Sunday 11th. Should we hold orders for Spring 1902 until
Sunday OR try to fit in orders by Thursday 5pm on the 8th?

dc179 Blackmarch W01 Builds and TIMELINE CHANGE - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
All,

LotM

It seemed that the consensus was a Thursday deadline so let's go with this:

Spring 1902 Deadline: May 8th 5pm CST

I will be able to adjudicate before I leave town but then retreats, if needed, won't be adjudicated until late Sunday.
