Dc180 Fall/Wintrer 1913 - Game ends in a DIAS. - packrat   (Mar 12, 2009, 5:21 am)
He did submit orders for Spring - but not for the fall. There was never
a response to my call for him to check his orders, nor after the results
came out and nothing came in for the fall.
Technically it was just the one season so I have already changed the status.

Turkey is marked as an Elimination as under the DC default House Rules, he must have failed to submit orders for 2 seasons. In fact he only missed one (assunming those orders dont turn up)

The only thing is whether he clocks up an NMR in the last turn.

.ExternalClass DIV {} That's all she wrote guys. The game ends with a three way draw between
France, Germany and Austria.

Personally I think this sort of an ending absolutely sucks. Playing TO a draw
is one thing and it happens frequently. Playing FOR a draw is a lame-ass way
to play the game. There was a TON of play left in this game but the DIAS is
what it is and remains a valid outcome to a game and when all is said and
done the game is yours to play and all I do is run the orders and give you your results.

Turkey will be marked as abandoning this game since he didn't bother to submit orders
this season either. When all is said and done, nothing he could have submitted would
have changed anything but that is no excuse to up and vanish.

Yes, and if you check YOUR email you will see that I replied and
said you should check that because you only ordered one unit.

And that was for the spring season. Nothing was submitted for the the fall.

However, I will go in and change the status from abandon to eliminated.

Dc180 WARNING: Fall 1913 orders due 3/11/2009 at 2... - packrat   (Mar 10, 2009, 12:26 am)
The deadline is about 42 hours away as I write this and I have a whole
TWO sets of orders. This game isn't over just yet.

I understand Russia not sending them in since he doesn't have any units to order,
but the rest of you (except two) need to get them in.

There is also a proposal for a 3 way draw consisting of France/Austria and Germany.
Please vote on that as well when you submit your orders. If you do not vote it will
count as a no vote.

Personally, I abhor playing for a draw, but this isn't my game so it is up to you guys.
I simply collect the orders and the votes and correlate them as needed.

So that's where we are at guys - lets get the stuff in, shall we?

OKay gentlemen, here are your results. No retreats are needed so we move right on
to Fall 1913. Those orders will be due 3/11/2009 at 2100. If I have all sets marked
as FINAL I will adjudicate early.

Check for errors.

On a side note -
Turkey ordered ANK to support BLA to CON but never ordered BLA to CON.
I emailed suggesting only that he check his orders, but as I looked at the other orders
I noticed that even if Turkey HAD ordered BLA to CON it still would have failed since
the German order of ARM to ANK cut the Turkish support, and Austria's move had
support so the end result would have been 2 v 1 and Austria would have had it anyway.

So - please be sure to check your orders before you send them in. I will generally NOT be
checking orders, but if I notice something wrong - I will only suggest you check them, I will
not tell you what is wrong - that's up to you.

Still just expressing your opinion, Matt? Or making the rest of the players and one GM go through the motions of knocking you out of the game, because you've got nothing better to do? You certainly aren't proposing an F/G tie in good faith, since you know it'll be voted down.

DC 180 End Game Proposal - txurce   (Feb 01, 2009, 2:19 pm)
Still just expressing your opinion, Matt? Or making the rest of the players and one GM go through the motions of knocking you out of the game, because you've got nothing better to do? You certainly aren't proposing an F/G tie in good faith, since you know it'll be voted down.

Neither draw proposal passed.

Horrible season for Turkey, as both his Balkan Armies get disbanded!
Russia kicks France out of Smyrna, as Germany Advances into Armenia! (How many games can say that?)

French F Smyrna could only retreat to ION, so I moved it there...if you want to retreat OTB, then lemme know ASAP.

Let's set Fall 1912 for Monday, February 9, at 23:59 GMT. If we can get all the orders in early again, that would be terrific!

DC 180: Winter 1911 Adjucation - MattKelly   (Jan 25, 2009, 4:21 pm)
You are no doubt younger than me. In the game you referred to #179 I proposed the draw. France gave up early which skewed the game. Note Germany with (4) centers was included while Italy w/ (6) was not. Based on play and Italy voted for it. In #176 I was offered to be in the tie and refused based on the fact I had came to the game late and in my opinion those in the tie deserved it.

Don't know why your getting your dander up. You are correct that I'm a goner and you will, due to the forbearance of France and Germany, be part of the tie. All I have done is expressed an opinion.

Matt,

You make a lot of assumptions: that I'm younger than you, have been playing for a much shorter time than you, and that I don't deserve to be in this draw. Here are some of mine. Based on your record at DC, you're an average player, and consequently probably have only a vague sense of what goes on behind the scenes on a winning side. In fact, you have exactly one draw to your credit - and in that draw, you and another player who each had ten SCs shared the draw with a player who had four. Sounds eerily familiar to me - and I wonder if that sour memory has anything to do with your gracelessness?

I say gracelessness because you already expressed your uninformed but still valid opinion as to why I don't deserve to be in this draw several turns ago. In doing so, you implicitly said that Alex and Mikael are blind to something that's obvious to you. I would have thought that would give you pause, especially since Mikael is one of the top players at DC - maybe, just maybe, you are missing something. Nevertheless, there was your opinion out in the open for all to read and take in. Clearly neither of those players agreed with you. So here you are, your situation so far gone that you'll be eliminated regardless, giving it one last shot with nothing to gain, and not even putting forth the semblance of an argument... just whining, in your courteous way, because the rest of the game - the part that will no longer involve you - isn't working out in a way that you can comprehend.

Matt,

Has it crossed your mind that I have to agree with you and vote against my own interests for your draw proposal to pass? And that this is your last turn before elimination? Why are you wasting your time - just hoping that I'll get squeezed out after you're gone? Who knows - that's a really strong, well-laid out argument you made. France and Germany have clearly seen some value in my contribution so far, but maybe they'll be swayed by your irrefutable logic and ask me to step aside. Then again, maybe someone will explain to you how this game is really played in an EGS.

Jorge,

From the tenor of your e-mail I have probably been playing this game a lot longer than you have. I'm not disputing your post. What I am saying is that your play in this game, which I have looked at prior to my joining it, does not warrant your inclusion in the tie. Since playing on this site I have turned down my inclusion in a tie because I didn't think my play was good enough and to be included would detract from the good play of others. That is how I look at end games. Not asking you to agree with it just understand it. It comes with age.

I'm sorry but Austria has done nothing to warrant being included in the win.
