Dc194 Spring 1908 - offdisc   (Dec 11, 2008, 1:11 pm)
Thanks to Steve for finishing up the GMing of this game! I was the
last replacement to join in the fray and had no clue that you were a
replacement GM.

Thanks to all the other players for keeping to the schedule.

It had been a while since I jumped into a replacement position with
anything more than a mercy position. Kind of fun to be able to not
only survive, but make a play towards a win. If it wasn't for (1) the
upcoming holidays, (2) a tight RL work schedule, and (3) Anthony's
newness to this site, I probably would have continued on to try for
the Solo. But time is short, and Anthony was a great partner, so I
saw no reason to make his first foray into our group a bad experience.
[ Note to Anthony: Every game plays differently. Next time..... Smile ]

When I came into the game, I talked to several players, but focused on
my neighbors: England, Germany, and Austria. England (Joe) and I have
played together before, and he immediately told me that if I chose to
work with him, he'd play, but otherwise he had basically checked out
of the game. I was willing to form an EF until I talked to Germany
and Austria and figured that they would be better early partners.
Sorry Joe, but you saw it coming, so I know there won't be any
lingering grudges.
Austria and I worked out a plan to hold back Turkey, and after I
grabbed England, I had enough units to march into Germany.
At the time I made my first moves in that direction, Turkey and I came
up with a 'Replacements Rule!' plan to take over the map. I kept
directing Austria in ways to 'survive' --- all the while, filtering
the same plans to Turkey so he could attack accordingly. I was able
to convince Austria to let me move into sensitive areas to block the
Turkish advance, and found myself in a position to grab a bunch of
Austrian centers without resistance. That was too much of bonus not
to take.... and thus the FT alliance was in full effect.
Anthony and I continued working together, and I proposed the plan to
knock out Russia as well. He saw the writing on the wall: if Russia
pulled his forces out of Germany, I had a Solo in hand. Yes, that was
my goal! But Turkey reacted strongly against attacking Russia and
when he proposed to Russia to accept a 'survivorship' if we declared
an FT Draw, I felt obligated to go along with it.

Good game all! I had a blast!

Thanks Anthony.

I have to say, the replacements in this game (all of you!) really stepped in and made an effort, so it was a pleasure to helpout and finish GMing this game for Dylan.

I hope you'll consider perhaps joining another after the Christmas season.

I cannot believe that I'm going to do this (what with 16 centers and 2
more easily within my grasp!!!), but I agree with the proposal.

I made the deal with Anthony and I will stick by it. Plus, I don't
believe replacements should be given credit for a Solo, especially
when the position was probably the best on the board when I took over.

So, 2-way draw between France & Turkey, with Russia getting a Survival.

Congrats!

Well in a strange and bizarre turn of events, we lose 2 of our
players this Winter.
Both Austria and Germany have been eliminated, with their centres
falling to the other 3 players. However Russia can't enjoy it as
much France and Turkey as he has no home SC to build in.

Thankyou Andy and Rachael for playing. You both have been
exemplary players and are welcome in any of my games any time.

Turkey - Build 2

Well in a strange and bizarre turn of events, we lose 2 of our
players this Winter.
Both Austria and Germany have been eliminated, with their centres
falling to the other 3 players. However Russia can't enjoy it as
much France and Turkey as he has no home SC to build in.

Thankyou Andy and Rachael for playing. You both have been
exemplary players and are welcome in any of my games any time.
France - Build 3
Turkey - Build 2

Builds are due Tuesday 9th at 8am GMT.

Congrats!

Thx to all. It was fun for my first game on this site.

Now to find a second game. Any ideas?

Given that the Christmas season is almost upon us - please let me know your holidays and absences asap
as I wont assume that you are away unless you tell me. It is highly unlikely we will break for more than a week
throughout Christmas.

Dc194 Winter 1906 - deathblade_penguin   (Nov 22, 2008, 5:02 am)
Dc194 Winter 1906

It seems the extra 24 hours is not needed, as I have all the adjudications i, and I have a hidden agenda so i am running Winter 1906 now.

Austria:
Remove A Albania
Remove A Vienna

England:
Remove F Helgoland Bight
Remove F Norwegian Sea

France:
Build F Brest
Build F Marseilles
Build A Paris

Germany:
Remove F Baltic Sea

Turkey:
Build A Ankara

I'd like to push for a quick deadline of Tuesday 25th at 8am GMT.

I understand that this is a very quick deadline, so if any player prior to the deadline feels
that they do need more time - all you have to do is drop me an email. I've got a hectic end of week next week, which is why I was angling for something earlier.
