PREV  Summer 1906 Adjudication:  NEXT

Well, somewhat surprisingly to me, we have a 3-way draw (EIA) that is agreed upon by all. Congrats to Shiv, Dan and Leif. And survival does count for a small something Gerry and Jon!

So there we have it. I will take end-game statements for my final posting to DC as I update the game.

For my part, thanks to all of those who stuck to the game and kept the flow going. As an observer, I was somewhat surprised to see this end so quickly. I thought for sure a A/I two-way was in the cards once France and England got into it. Russia was never going to be able to sustain his two-front war so I figured that A/I would mop up the south and advance through the middle while England was busy dealing with France.

Shows what I know though.

Share those EGS's and thanks to all for playing!

Garry

ENDGAME STATEMENT:

All & Garry,

First, thanks Garry for GMing. Huge. Made it happen.

Secondly, my EOG. Wish it was a bit longer, but here it is...

Opening: As Italy I went Lepanto. And, in all my years of playing, this is the first time it actually worked just like the text book says it works. It's one of those things you read about, but it always gets tripped up since it requires Italy to sit exposed for several seasons. Anyway, you all know what happened. Leif and I, the weaker sisters, stuck together and good things happened. As I recall, we had talked fairly early about a central AIRG alliance. That fell apart fairly quickly, but the AI stuck. No fault of Jon - whose communication I very much appreciated - but we had the home cooking going early.

Mid-Game: Gerry's build of F Mar changed the equation and he and I were at war. Luckily, an extra build from Smy gave me a second fleet and it was stalemated long enough for the two primary alliances AI and EF to eliminate the competition. Making that fleet retreat behind enemy lines imbalanced the situation and made France the least stable country. While any three of the big four could have eliminated the singlet, Gerry was the easy pickings.

End-Game: When Tom switched sides the game had reached the end. As long as three good players with roughly the same sized powers are left on the board, the three-way draw is the logical conclusion. Any attempt to go for a two-way draw can be thwarted by the singlet IMO. Solos and two-ways require either poor play or poor players. It looked like we had three good players so the draw was fine with me, especially as Italy.

Good game all and thanks again Garry!!!!
Dan

ACTUAL SUMMER RESULTS:

And correctly predicted that Austrian A Rum retreats to Ser.

In addition to this, the French F in MAO drinks the last of its wine stores and scuttles the ships.

The Russian F in the BAL drinks the last of its vodka but sets sail to GOB (or BOT) in search of a port with replacement Vodka.

WE HAVE AN EGP (end-game proposal) - a 3-way draw for AEI. That would be survival for the others.

You must vote with Fall orders on the deadline previously shared (June 8th at 4p CST). A missing vote is counted as a no. An NMR counts as a no as well.

Since we haven't discussed protocol, I ONLY accept votes with orders and that is the valid vote that is counted. I do NOT share vote counts or why something fails if it does, just that it does.

So right then. Carry on!
Garry
