GGS 1264 / DC110 - 3-way draw proposal & deadl... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
No to 3 way. Rupert does not deserve to be recognized above China, Japan and to a lesser extent, myself.

No to DIAS with England. Again, sorry Stephen... blame Rupert.

We either fight to stop the Solo or we vote yes to the Solo. Period.

I just want to let everyone know that I didn't propose the Spanish Solo. Whoever it was (I'm guessing Sims) is just trying to unite the world against poor little me.

Well, yeahSmile

Seriously, who would propose their own solo anyway? If there's any doubt, the soloer will just walk over the required centers and call it done. And if the remaining players haven't called a draw yet, there's almost surely someone who will vote down a solo proposal.

China votes yes on the Spanish solo, just for kicks.

DC191 Study In Baltic - Fall 1906 - The Yellow Fac... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Watson and Holmes straightened up from their grisly discovery of the cardboard box, the good doctor overcome with horror. "My Lord Holmes!" he exclaimed. "Do you think one of those are hers?"

"Calm yourself, Watson," his friend replied. "Both of those are very masculine ears - I am sure your wife is perfectly safe... Whereas we might not be so lucky." His attention had been caught by the strange apparition on the far side of the road. A child, sitting in a tall tree, wearing a bright yellow mask. With one hand the small figure gripped a stout branch for balance, the other hand was pointed out towards the gravel drive.

In the drive, three very stout Finnish men had appeared, one of whom carried a pistol - the business end pointed directly at Holmes and Watson. "You're to come with us," he barked. "And keep your distance, Mister Holmes. Your reputation at fisticuffs is well known... You can believe that we won't be taking any chances."

"What do we do?" Watson whispered in alarm.

"Why, we go with them," was the reply. "Today the Finnish carry the field...."

-----------------------------

The Finns do have an excellent turn - netting themselves three builds with a string of successful occupations. The rest of the action across the board stabilizes, with the Poles and the Russians exchanging southern centers and Sweden trusting the Fins just one step too far.

No retreats are required after the action of the Fall. Deadline for the Winter 1906 adjustments will be set for Saturday, September 19th (11:59 PM GMT).

Also of note - a DIAS proposal has been put on the table. Please have your yay or nay votes in on this by the Winter Adjustments deadline.

Cheers guys!

DC201 - Spring 954 adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Spring 954: it shouldn't come as a big surprise that another region was set on fire.
Nor as to which Power was responsible for deploying the Scorched Earth strategy this time.
Toulouse, region between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, and once the prosperous center between France and the Arab Caliphates, reduced to smoldering fields and villages. Caught between the Arabs and Burgundians the French army backed up until they were driven into the sea. No French survivors were reported. So now the French civilization and its future rest upon the shoulders of its armies in Tours and Nantes.

The Romans and the Slavs have reported heavy fighting in the Khazar Empire; all neighboring regions seem to have been involved and the Romans managed to hold their position.
Heavy fighting also in the Sea of England: the Danes with the support from Burgundy outnumbered the attacking Norse and drove them back.
The Slavic army in the mountainous region of Tirol was completely surprised by the overwhelming force the Burgundians had deployed; no survivors.
The army of the independent city of Alexandria was no match for the Roman forces and has surrendered. So after the independent city of Jorsal, now Alexandria has fallen too.

DC201 - Viking Victory conditions - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
After 2 weeks, with a small margin, the votes were cast in favor of changing the victory conditions as suggested to reflect the changing number of Supply Centers on the map due to the Scorched Earth variant.

This means that
the Viking Victory conditions for a Solo now require a minimum of 26 SCs or 50% of the total SCs remaining.

PRESS

Britons speak,

To Welsh,

Ah, the first stumbling block. I am NOT positive to having 3 fleets positioned vs Cel. I could live with a fleet in Bri, but not Cor as well. To be frank, Cor feels very threatening. I humbly ask you to pull that unit away.

To Angles,

Unless a draw passes, we might have to do something like that. I also agree that we would need some kind of guarantees within such a coalition.

To Norse/Danes,

I do not wish to fight either of you, especially not Danes whom I've worked very well with this far. However, if draws keep getting voted down, something must be done and the Angles suggestion is probablly the easiest one to do. I cincerely hope it does not come to that.

To Scots,

Nothing personal, you simply ended up in front of my units.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSurprisedfficeSurprisedffice" />
Angles and Britons, I am all in favor of the three major powers banding together against the three minor ones, should the Norse, Danes and Scots persist in prolonging this senseless carnage. In that case, a three-way draw sounds more than fair to me.

Angles, if I take ARG, you can have SUS. I'm also willing to support you into ARG, if you prefer.

Britons, support into LOU is appreciated. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSurprisedffice:smarttags" />F ST. moved away from KER, just to keep things as cordial as possible. I think we're on auto pilot next turn.

-Wales

Wales/Britons: Waiting for your response to my WBA vs. DNS idea. A 6-way draw is fine with me too.

Wales: Let's keep up the bump in Wil and will continue to support your A Ayr - Arg.

Some victories for the small fries this turn, as the purple fleets dislodge the ever popular Sar Sin and move a unit for the first time in 5 years, and once again the Lac Sin changes hands, now bearing the orange flag.

Meanwhile our two leaders each take a forced disband, having no retreat possible.

Proposed 4-way draw! To include the 4 large and medium powers, the 2 one-dotters, if passed, would get survivals. Vote with your spring 14 orders!

DC192 - The Scum on the Slop Bucket GAME END FALL... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
DIPLOMATICCORP DC192 - THE SCUM ON THE SLOP BUCKET
STANDARD GAME, STANDARD MAP, 2-SEASON GAME YEAR
ADJUDICATION FALL 1908 (TURN 16) - END OF GAME
THURSDAY 18th SEPTEMBER 2008

GM Comment:

We have a final result. The best of the slop rises to the surface!

GERMANY WINS A SOLO VICTORY gaining 18 centres (Congratulations to Mark)
FRANCE SURVIVES
TURKEY SURVIVES

My thanks go to the above players and to the others who were eliminated in this turn and earlier. There were no NMRs (except for a rerun of the first turn following the original France falling at the first fence). The player commitment was great - including Adam (Italy) who even sent in a nil return order for the final turn when he didn't have any units left!

The game seemed destined for a 2-way concession victory to France and Germany for a while, but the proposal was voted down turn after turn after turn. Germany's armies seemed better placed than France's Mediterranean fleets to pick up centres in the end game. In the end Germany's fleet dispositions allowed some (expected?) stabs at France's expense.

If any of you want to do End of Game Statements (and I encourage you to share your strategy with the wider Diplomaticcorp community) then please either send them to me for distribution or publish the statements yourself on the DC192 message board.

In due course point will be allocated to players and the game will be archived in the Hall of Games.

Good luck to each player in their future games.

A complete map history for the game (in the form of a slideshow) can be found at http://sforza.50webs.com/ I'll keep these on the site for a few months.
A slideshow purely showing end of turn maps can be found at: http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/slideshow.php?game_id=dc192 (I won't be putting intermediate maps - moves, retreats, adjustments - retrospectively on the Diplomaticcorp site for this game - too much work, but will be putting them on for the next game I GM).

Cheers,

Paolo.
