DC176 - Winter 1911 adjustments - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Austria:
Build A Vienna
England:
Remove F North Sea
France:
Build A Brest
Build A Paris Russia:
Remove A Holland
Remove A Norway

After a farewell to England, Europe has again changed its internal borders at the beginning of Spring 1912.
1912 will be an interesting year with an Italian power that can't build new units, a French power that is almost driven out of its home country, and French and Austrian powers sharing much of middle and western Europe.

Deadline for Spring 1912 orders is Monday, Sep 29 at 23:00 GMT.

DC201 (Viking) - F954 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Fall 954: what happened to the French? Did their bonfire got out of hand and spread to the neighboring region?
Or was it planned this way? Black plumes of smoke rise from the cities of Nantes and Tours.
The Burgundians arrived just too late in Nantes to stop the French. In Tours the civilians are clueless as to why their villages were set on fire. The Norse army, expecting to support the French into Paris, is equally puzzled by this French display of, uh, suicidal genocide.
Confusion in the northern region of Mecklenburg, Hamsburg, Hedeby, Jomsborg and Jylland: units from the Danes, Norse and Slaves are scrambling to make some sense of their orders. And the Swedish army of Aldeigjuborg who intended to support the Swedish fleet in the Gulf of Finland into Reval realized at its border that it still had to cross Ingermannland to get there.

A DRAW proposal has been submitted: DRAW NORGE - ERE.
Any endgame proposals will be voted for in either major season (Spring, Fall).
So please submit your votes with the next Spring orders (yes, first there is Autumn and Winter).
If a player doesn't submit a vote, it will be counted as a 'NO' vote.

Autumn 954:

Not so quick. There is still one unit in Tours until Winter 954.
But you may want to start on your epitaph.
Thanks for playing, Trout. A shame that no one seemed to like France from the start.

DC201 (Viking) - F954 Adjudication Correction - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Another error, this one really bad. Thanks Lee for pointing this out.

The French A Nantes wasn't disbanded by the BUR/Arab attack nor
destroyed by its own fire (I assume). Instead it was dislodged. So we
have a second French unit remaining, in Nantes.

As per the rules, Trout can retreat the unit in Nantes to Noirmoutier,
a SC, or opt to disband it (in case it did set fire to itself). The
difference between survival and elimination for France.

My apologies to Trout and all others.
Late night adjudications and manual override of RP apparently don't
make a good recipe. And I guess that I was too much consumed by
France's burning desire Wink and if I didn't there is still the OTB for
Nantes.

And so we proceed! Only one retreat needed:

A Bel - can go to Hol, Ruh, or OTB

IMPORTANT!!!: Our deadline for the retreat will be Sunday the 28th at 5pm CST [sorry, the Lord is leaving the March
for some relaxation]. I will adjudicate that night and we can proceed. If everyone is okay with it, I will
go ahead and set the deadline for Fall as Thursday Oct 2nd 5pm CST so I can adjudicate before leaving town again.
That will allow retreats, builds and disbands while I am out of town.

All the best.

DC172 Midsummer Night's Stab - Fall 1608 - Measure... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
If I must die, I will encounter darkness as a bride and hug it in mine arms.

Our friendly bard gets a little morose with his latest work, as do the Russians as the Danish Barents Sea fleet continues to make them cry. A key support is cut in Archangel allowing the purple-clad troops to annex Moscow. While on the other side of the continent, the Danes reinforce their position in Spain and take the Spanish highlands in Castille.

But it wasn't all Danish on the board - the Habsburgs make a move in force through the center and the Spanish match their foes move for move in the central Med.

One retreat is required, that being the aforementioned Russian garrison from Moscow. Deadline for the retreat will be set for Saturday, September 27th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers folks. Please just let me know if you spot any errors.

Dc181 Winter 1905

GM - Apology for the delay. It is not wise to combine a night of heavy drinking with a long drive with a girlfriend. I'm still recovering (and being punished).

I have NOT heard from Italy. If I do not hear from Italy by the Spring deadline, I will hold the game pending a replacement.

There are now 3 draw proposals on the table for Spring 1905.

Proposal 1 An AGI draw

Proposal 2 An AI draw

Proposal 3 An AG Draw

NOTE - if both the AI and AG pass, the AI takes precedence as it was proposed first.

Austria:
Build F Trieste
Build A Vienna
Build A Budapest

Germany:
Build A Kiel

Italy: NO DISBAND RECEIVED.
Remove F North Atlantic Ocean

Russia:

Dc189 Winter 858 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dc189 Winter 858

End Game Proposal 1 - DIAS. Failed.
End Game Proposal 2 - DIAS with DCI scoring Passed.

YES, congratulations - the War for Ancient England and the Continent has ground to a halt with our 6 remaining players already thinking about the next and final game in the DCI 2008 (more on the second game in the next email)

Our Final Standings
Drawn 1st - Angles, Britons, Welsh, Norse, Danes, Scots
Joint 7th - Irish and Picts
9th - Sxaons
10th - Frisisans

DCI Scoring
Angles, Britons, Welsh - 10 SC each score 6 points.
Norse - 8 SC score 4 points.
Danes and Scots - 6 SC score 2.5 points each.
Irish, Picts, Saxons and Frisians score 1 point each.

and now our cast (working up in DCI scoring)

The Danes were played by Nigel Phillips. As at the start of the 2008 DCI, Nigel was currently ranked 16th in DC. Nigel was invited to play as the winner of the 2008 Winter Blitz Tournament.

The Scots were played by Clark Landry. Clark was ranked 5th in DC and was invited to play as one of the six top players in DC.

The Norse were played by Lee Taylor. Lee was also invited to play as one of the top six players in DC and at the time of the start of the tournament was ranked 7th.

The Welsh was played by DC heavyweight Jorge Saralegui. Jorge was invitied to play as one of the top six players in DC and was ranked 9th in DC. I thank Jorge for his entertaining comments and emails to me as the game progresses.

The Angles were played (very well I thought) by DC newcomer, Dan Dzikowicz (did i get that spelling right Dan?). Dan was ranked 23rd in DC and was invited as best ranked newcomer to the club. (fortunately for Dan, Clark who was also in the running for best newcomer moved himself up the table and into the game leaving a spot for Dan.)

The Britons were played by another DC heavyweight and recent solo winner, Mikael Johannson. This is Mikael's second DCI (finishing second to Mike Sims last year). Mikael was invited as one of the top players in DC and was ranked 3rd in DC at the time the tournament started (1st was Mike Sims and 2nd was myself - ineligible to play).

so out of curioisity.- rankings were

At the start of the Tournament and current ranking (note when you have under 10 games, the rankings move a lot)

Mikael 3rd Now 3rd
Clark 5th now 14th

(note I got 9 out of my original 10 players for this year's DCI. Derek was my replacment as Greg Evappollo was unable to play this year)

Please submit End of Game statements to me, everyone else and to dc189(at)diplomaticcorp.com (dc189(at)diplomaticcorp.com)

Wow....

TIght field.. You're all just lucky that Penger doesn't allow me in there to mix it up with you, eh. He keeps muttering something about lowering the standards too much by letting me in.

Nice game, guys. =P
