Press - Fall 854
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
Britons speak,
To Welsh,
I hope my support this fall helps out and that my proposal has been thought over and either accepted or re-formulated to an acceptable solution for you. To this end, I have no intent to go further north than Cel, unless you ask me to.
To Scots,
I hope that you also have pondered my offer and that this fall gives a response.
To Frisians,
I'm sorry I decieved you - again, but I had to go somewhere.
To Danes,
Hol and Rhe for me and the others for you?
To Saxons,
I need instructions for Eng and for how you want to proceed in this game as a whole from this point on.
Frisians to all: Looks like this was it for me. Good game everyone. Enjoyed playing
Britons: Feel free to pick up the Saxon pieces.
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" />Wales: A good idea, but I think I'm going to make some progress against the Saxons while I can. I think the Picts are doomed but I am not too keen on that Scottish army heading South so let me know what I can do.
- Angles
Britons, the Saxons are secure, and I am on board for making the Irish fond memories. The Scot With No Press (one exception) is in a great situation, and more power to him. As you can see, I am moving away from a defensive position with you, and would appreciate space from you as well. Ker is yours - if I get into St. this turn and you need the support, I'll give it to you. I'd appreciate your help if needed vs Dub, and we'll see what happens with Arm. Pressuring the Scots around the other side may be a good idea at the time.
Angles, I assume you're covering Yor. I'm sending an army up, and intend to give the Scots some opposition this game. If there is an attack on the Scots in the fall which you are in position to support, I would appreciate it.
Saxons, I agree that setting up a defensive perimeter is the first order of business. Let's see what the Britons do. If we're headed toward a quick three out and on to round two, great. If this game continues, we can discuss what to do down the road.
Danes, you may want to think about the fact that by the time you're ready to raid the east coast, there will be no room for you to do so. The Norse will be in your way, or trying to be. Heading north may make more sense.
-Wales
Saxons to Angles/Welsh: I do hope that my moves from last turn were not unnoticed. I am assuming that A Sta gets disbanded and we can move forward now. I suppose both PRESS and results will let me know.
Norse press.... To Scots, come on..stay west and I stay east and we are both happy. To Picts, are you Trout? Trout like moves...... To Danes, remember my loyalty in not stabbing you while you were vulnerable.

DC-184 Fall 1903 Retreat Adjudication - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
To all,
It's been fun, but I gotta say, that the rules here are very different than I am used to. Add to that, the length of time to play is painful, and I am not enjoying the email version of the game as I thought I would. Usually, I would finish out a game like this, but since it will likely takes months yet to finish, I am going to bow out now and save us all the trouble. Good luck to all the players, and hope you find someone suitable to replace me....

DC-184 Fall 1903 Retreat Adjudication - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
How about I take France, and we get some new schmo to take over Italy?
Seriously, this is a bummer. You were fun to correspond with, Scott. I was looking forward to being invaded by you once you had another couple of units. You have a good head for the game, and I'm sure the game will be weaker without you.

NADF - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
In order to faciliate continued discussion on the recent DipCon
topics, and other discussions related to the NADF and other important
bodies, I created a Yahoo group for that purpose. You can join at:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/NADF/
After you've joined, if you feel you should be a moderator of the
group, please let me know. I simply created it for convenience; I

Postal Diplomacy Zine Archive - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
For those interested in hobby history, I have begun the process of
scanning and posting older postal Diplomacy publications to my
personal Diplomacy website. So far you can find some classic Don
Miller Diplomania issues, the first 10 issues of Graustark (the first
Diplomacy zine ever), and much more. I'm adding issues every week,
sometimes every day. These issues can be seen in the Postal Diplomacy
Zine Archive section of my website at:
http://www.whiningkentpigs.com/DW/
I also created a Yahoo group for anyone who wants to keep up-to-date
on what has been added, or to discuss old zines, who has some on hand,
what should be posted next, etc. That group can be found at:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/postalzine/

All right, all right.. Two proposals have hit the books now. Was going to wait until Winter to announce them, but okay:
1. BC Solo Proposal
2. BC/Mex/Fla Draw
If I receive all votes in by the Winter deadline, I'll announce the results. Otherwise I'll put the voting deadline along with the Spring 2013 orders.
Cheers!

DC-198 Summer Mayhem Spring 1904 Adjudication - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Have no worries, I'm not CDing the guy! He just had an NMR. As my House Rules for this game clearly state, no matter the number of NMRs (the player could be in full-blown CD,) if a player submits orders for a turn, I will accept them. It may have been four game years since I heard from a player last, but I will still accept any legal orders submitted.

All right, all right.. Two proposals have hit the books now. Was going to
wait until Winter to announce them, but okay:

If I receive all votes in by the Winter deadline, I'll announce the

I count on Bruce and Lee to vote down the solo. I'd vote against it myself but if everyone REALLY wants me to solo (yeah, right) I can't argue.
So can we call it a BC/Florida/Mexico draw and not go through the pain of wiping whomever we suspect is voting down the draws (and proposing BC solos to get Mex and Florida to attack me?)

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
Our retreats are made to Tuscany and Tyrolia on the part of the French and the Habsburgs. Meanwhile, the Swedes and English find themselves exiting stage-left - maybe to prepare for their next roles...
The DIAS is voted down by one or more players - we move smartly into the Winter 1605 adjustments. Deadline will be set for Monday, August 4th (11:59 PM GMT).

OW s09 all out! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Spring 09 (and summer) is out! You should all have new maps by now.
A bit of Press to carry us forth into the fall, due 8-8-08 at high noon Central US time:
The Daily Arrow
Dear readers,
It is with great sadness that we must announce that this will be our final printing.
Our valiant soldiers are preparing to give our SEVEN invading enemies the Shaft.
However, thanks to the depredations and general foulness of those invaders, our brave lads are stuck up an unsanitary tributary without proper means of propulsion.
The Ministry of Maps has ordered all copies of the Great World Map be burned.
We curse our invaders, their prostitute mothers, and the goats they call fathers.
We pray that the Powers grant us to return as Undead that our foes may burn in the toxic fire of our contempt.
May the Peace of the Light be upon you all.[Reply] |

DC176 - Fall 1907 Adjudication - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
With a new Italy, things are back to the way they were.
Well, not for everyone. Or actually, mostly for none.
Only Germany managed to get its unit back to where it was a year ago. And it is still around.
Together with France they are the only ones that see all of their orders succeed.
Austria is a close second as it failed to take Rome. Which stopped the Italians from taking Apulia.
Talking about the Italians: they and Russia are fighting over prime locations in Turkey and the Black Sea. Italy played it clever and successfully defended 3 locations with its 2 units.
I bet the Mad Monk at the Russian Court will be mad with anger after hearing this.
But worst hit is England. Two orders succeed but at a terrible price: London has to retreat from Belgium and Liverpool. Through the support from the Russians, the French were able to undermine all English attacks that would have prevented their demise otherwise. Is this the price England pays for invading St Petersburg earlier? And we all remember wha happened to Germany after it had to leave St Petersburg, don't we?
Good luck to you all.

Folks,
I'm happy to introduce Joe Hackett as our new France. Revised player list is below. I've amended the Winter 1903 deadline to Tuesday, 5 August at 2pm CST (7pm GMT.) I need adjustments from Austria and France.
Keep in mind that, after Winter, there will be a delay while Ross is gone (until mid-month,) and I travel to Georgia on typical US Navy short notice. We should be able to have the game back on track by the 20th or so.
Thanks again, Joe!

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Winter 2012 - Fee... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
I demand to know the name of the person(s) whom are prolonging this exercise and a pretty damn good justification for it. We have been voting every turn for the past 3 game years and for some reason that I think we all deserve to know what the point is. Obviously one of the largers feel they can solo or one of the smallers is being vendictive to repay one of the largers...
I could care less but I think we deserve to know what this person(s) feels would be an adequate outcome to this game.

More wisdom from the book of Suess:
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
Both draw proposals meet defeat and we proceed with the Winter adjustments. However, there's a lot of waiving going on - the only build being an army in Calgary. Meanwhile, California disbands all eight mainland armies - leaving only the southern fleets... All said and done - rather an odd Winter turn.
We move on with the Spring of 2013. Order deadline will be set for Friday, August 8th (11:59 PM GMT). Cheers folks!
