My arm got blewn to smithereens
In a boarding action off France
And now I can cut quite the scene
At all the balls and dance

This Pirate, me, does dress real great
And with the elites hob-nob
They get a shock - for the Surgeon's Mate
Replaced me arm with a chewed corn-cob

DC176 - Newsflash - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
ITAR-TAS Special newsflash regarding the situation in Turkey.

Several days ago reports started trickling in at our newsdesk on
skirmishes occurring in Turkey between the military and its citizens.
This has been an ongoing concern to the neighbouring countries who are
afraid that the violence might affect them. Clarity was sought from
the local government but none of the requests was responded to.

Today our local reporter has been witness to largescale riots in the
region of Smyrna. The violence amongst citizens and military has grown
out of control. The Turkish government still has to respond to this
outbreak. One official, who wanted to stay anonymous out of fear for
retaliation, told us that the Turkish leader has gone missing and that
the government has become paralyzed as a result.

A further escalation of violence is expected. Unless the Turkish
leader will react soon, the whole country is expected to go into civil
war. Several countries have already advised their citizens to avoid
travelling to Turkey. Increased military activity has been noticed at
their borders.

DC192: Game Start. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Yet another Standard Rules, Standard Map game kicks off. This one is a 2-Season game using Preference Order Lists (POLs) for potential retreats and adjustments. Information on the 2-Season game year and POLs can be found in the GM House Rules – there’s a link on the game page. It’ll take you to my GM site for DiplomaticCorp games. There’s a slideshow of the map history for each game I run. Wait for these to load as the initial delay means you can just navigate forwards and backwards quickly.

The time for all deadlines is 20:00 UTC/GMT. Deadlines will usually be 5-6 days apart, Mon-Sun inclusive. Adjudications will usually be out within 24 hours.

First deadline falls on Thursday, 12th June 2008.

The game is named ‘The Scum on the Slop Bucket’, because when asked whether I’d GM the next standard game it was couched in the terms ‘are you up for “slop” '. I have a feeling ‘slop’ and ‘slot’ got confused, but it seemed somehow appropriate for a Diplomacy game.

A surprise move from England gains them the Gulf of Lyons. Meanwhile, Turkey makes the good fight against the Blue forces but loses two centers in the east to the Arch-Duke.

One retreat is required from Turkey in the Gulf of Lyons. As for the adjustments, two yellow units must go and two red units need placing. Deadline for Winter 1911 adjustments will be set for Friday, June 6th (11:59 PM GMT).

DC176 - Turkey NMR for Spring 1904 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear all,

despite postings on the DC website and several emails, Turkey has not responded.
As announced earlier this means that Turkey has gone into Civil Disorder and as per my House Rules this means:

If a player NMRs for 2 consecutive seasons (Spring or Fall), the country is placed in Civil Disorder (CD). Countries in Civil Disorder will have all their units hold. Units will disband if dislodged and no extra units will be built. The GM will remove the player from the game and may choose to seek a replacement or just leave the country in Civil Disorder.

Since Turkey has only one unit left which is surrounded by units from other Powers, its life expectancy is rather short. For that reason I will not seek a replacement for this player.

The deadline for Fall 1904 won't change and is still set for Tuesday, June 10, 23.00 GMT

Your GM
Frank

Unfortunately I never heard back from our France - Jake. I am hoping this is a temporary setback by him and that he will be on board for the next deadline.

dc187 fall 01 results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
French forces roll unhindered into Iberia and Belgium, Holland stands
as a lonely independent caught between England and Germany, the
Balkans become crowded, and Italy's army finds the hotel rooms in
Trieste are already occupied. Any hopes of peace in Europe seem
misplaced as always.

Images attached showing the orders and the results.

The deadline for winter 1901 builds will be Thursday, 12 June, at noon
BST (11am GMT). I'd like to make retreat and build phases just 3-days
in future, but one of the players has contacted me to warn they'll be
unavailable over this weekend and for a few days after. Of course, if
I get final build orders from everyone then we'll move onward.

Hamish

DC140 "Never Ending Story" fall 1909 res... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
France makes a bit of a comeback, regaining Marseilles and sacrificing his fleet in Wales to save Brest. Turkey continues to sail toward Tunis, and England gains firm control of the western edge of the board. Meanwhile, it's all quiet on the eastern front.

Two units were dislodged, the French fleet in Wales and the Russian army in Marseilles. Both had no valid retreats and were destroyed, so no autumn retreats are due.

Winter 1909 adjustments, due Tuesday 6/10 at 3pm Central (US), are as follows:
England build 2
Italy remove 1
Russia build 3 (one to replace A Mar and two that were banked)
Turkey build 1

Thanks, everyone!

Cory

I have to agree here, I was terribly torn between going against you and going against Trout. The fact that you are both very experienced and skilled players didn't help matters at all.
