Hey guys,
First of all, did I miss the winter moves? I didn't receive an e-mail about it.
Secondly, I want to thank you all (or rather, the Diplomacy community in general). I'm 18 years old and am currently deciding where to go to college. Yesterday I received an acceptance letter from Tufts University, which is one of my dream schools. As you may or may not know, Tufts is renowned for its international relations programs, so as a part of the application I wrote a short essay about a game of Diplomacy I played last semester with some of my friends and teachers. Tufts really values creativity in its applications, and I would like tot think that that essay, and this game, helped me get in.

So thank you everyone, for how rigorously you keep this grand tradition alive. I may not go to Tufts, but if I do (and I'd like to), I have the Diplomatic community to be grateful for. I'll keep you posted (decision has to be made in a couple weeks!)

dc444 Winter 11 adjudication - jerome777   (Mar 29, 2013, 4:05 pm)
Hi everyone,

Here's the Winter 11 builds:

Austria:
Build A Vienna

Italy:
Build F Naples

We have six EGPs for you to vote on with your SPRING 12 moves:

Austria solo
Austria-Italy two-way

Austria-Italy-Russia three-way
Austria-France-Italy three-way

Austria-France-Italy-Germany-Russia five-way
DIAS six-way

Please vote for or against these EGPs in your Spring moves.

This weekend is Easter, meaning two exciting things:

i) Saturday evening marks the beginning of British Summer Time!
(apparently, the temperatures here are still sub-zero but there you go).
So, the deadline will be shifting to 2000GMT from next week onwards.

ii) The tournament directors have decreed an extra day, due to the
holiday weekend. So, Spring 12 deadline is Tuesday 2 April, 2000GMT.

Any problems or queries, please shout.

I will also vote for an Austria solo since, as Hugh agreed, I think he
has earned it.

Hey all... just a quick note that our highly esteemed tournament director has determined that it would be a good idea to move our first deadline to April 2, distancing it not only from Easter, but also April Fools' Day. The time on April 2 will remain 4pm CDT (9pm GMT). Carry on.

Retreat!?!?! Yes, it's true. There are some retreats for us this time. Must mean the game is back on? I realize that Friday is Good Friday, but this is the blitz and it doesn't afford us much time to dilly dally, so deadlines remain as they would have been. Naturally, I'll be lenient with tomorrow's deadline if it comes and I haven't heard from everyone.

Note the four end-game proposals on the docket for our spring moves. Don't vote on them now, but with your moves due on Monday. I'll include them again with the winter adjudication.

Similar to John I will vote yes to any 3-way or 2-way draws that include me.
I will also vote for an Austria solo since, as Hugh agreed, I think he
has earned it.

WB Round 2 - Under way! - FuzzyLogic   (Mar 28, 2013, 10:18 am)
By now you should all have your round 2 lineups.  For this one turn, and being Easter this weekend, we're going to make the first deadline 4/2 (Tuesday) instead of 4/1 (Monday).  Then Fall will be on Thurs and on the regular schedule thereafter.  This should give everyone a little easier return from the holiday.  Good luck!

(For the two round 1 games still going the deadline is as set by your GM.  This only affects the starting Round 2 games)

Hi everyone,
We're entering our 10th year of round one this week... which means round 2 is just around the corner.  This first week or two of round two tends to be the most hectic as some players still have first round games going... Most of the games are in fact, as only one has completed as of year 9.  That was dc443, which finished in a 3-way draw -- setting the bar for the first round.  Lineups will be announced early next week, with a first deadline being the following Monday April 1st.  Enjoy!

I vote YES to any EGP that is not a solo (I will not vote for solos).

I also HOLD my army unless I send in another order. I am very sorry that I am NMRing but one could understand my incentive to keep sending in hold orders is limited. I wouldn't want to be replaced out because of these nmr's.
