Just out of curiousity, is there any actual "diplomacy" going on any more, or have the draw participants sorted themselves out and are simply grinding through to the finish?
I'm not much interested in games where I have a fair percentage of centers but never receive any substantive press. I can't imagine anyone else is either?!?

Hi all,
Retreats are in early! Seems that good planning allows for quick decisions. Whether those decisions are right or wrong remains to be determined.Reminds me a bit of the US holiday we in the States are about to celebrate. The Americans planned well, had a good purpose to fight for. The Brits, on the other hand, didn't take the revolt seriously, thought they were putting down a small revolution, and didn't bring in the big guns until too late. We all know how well THAT strategy worked.

Adjustments (Builds And Disbands) due today!!!! Several stiill outstanding.
... and when the deadline passed, a great swelling of the oceans and rumbling of the land caused all to run for the safety of their home ports. Unfortunately, some were too far away and were swallowed up whole. During this time, all manufacturing was also put on hold. Dark Times, Dark Times.

power assignments for DC432.
Austria Richelieu andrewgbeaumont(at)gmail.com
England MrTauo tauo(at)sbcglobal.net
France DrStrangelove ericzred(at)gmail.com
Germany Wladimir7 wmysonski(at)gmail.com

Note: Nacvet has requested emails to go to both addresses, to make sure
he gets them.
When sending orders to me, please include the game number, the season,
and your power name. Preferably updated orders should have a number at
the end, to indicate newest orders. For example:
dc432 Spring 01 France Orders [1]
The revision number at the end is optional, and I will use the latest
received when I do the adjudication. This will help me see there is an
updated order set.
I am going to set the first deadline for July 10 (at) 0100GMT (July 9, 9PM
Eastern). If this will cause a problem with the July 4th holiday this
week, please let me know and I can add a week to it.
After all of the other crazy things with signups, I'm glad to see this
one get underway. If any of you have questions, please feel free to
ask. If any of you have anything you would like me to send out with the
adjuducations, send them with your orders. Press can be under your name
or anonymous.

dc431 Spring 1901 deadline extended - smileyrob (Jul 02, 2012, 10:03 am) |
Gentlemen,
At least one of our players is without power due to recent storms. By request I am extending the Spring deadline until Tuesday, July 10th. Our upcoming schedule now looks like this:
Spring 1901: Tuesday, July 10, 8 PM PDT (Wed, July 11, 3AM GMT)
Summer 1901: Thursday, July 12, 8 PM PDT (Fri, July 13, 3AM GMT)
Fall 1901: Tuesday, July 17, 8 PM PDT (Wed, July 18, 3AM GMT)
I am sorry if this in inconvenient of frustrating, but I will always grant extensions in such cases.

dc431 Winter 1900 Adjudication - smileyrob (Jul 01, 2012, 10:52 pm) |
Gentlemen,
Here are the winter results. I suspect there are no big surprises. The 12 builds are evenly divided between fleets and armies, though geographically most of the fleets come in the north while armies are more favored in the south.
Amongst those I heard from, there are a variaty of opinions on when we should have our next deadline. I am sympathetic to the argument that our normal tuesday deadline is too soon. Since Wednesday is a holiday, I am going to postpone the deadline until Thursday, but have it earlier in the day than normal, 4 PM PDT (11PM GMT). As the next phase is a summer, I'm going to give only 28 hours, and have it Friday, 8 PM PDT. I think this will allow us to resume our normal schedule the next week, with the Fall 1901 deadline on Tuesday, July 10, 8PM PDT.

DC406: Fall 08 Retreats! - offdisc (Jul 01, 2012, 2:09 pm) |
Hi all,Retreats are in early!
Retreats, Fall 08:-------------------------Gnomes: A Newa River - Elephant GraveyardOgres: A Cyriss - Moominvalley
Look at this -- for once, everyone still in the game has either a build or a disband; no one is sitting on the sidelines just watching.
Adjustment Deadline is Tuesday, July 3rd. Let's get them in before the holiday, otherwise there'll be *explosions*.

hmm well I dont like single line statements on history, but I must point out that the colonies had a lot of help from the French, (and spanish and dutch) and its very unlikely the revolution would have succeeded without them...from a purely military perspective..in those early years....not to take anything away from my good friends your celebration of what was the birth of the greatest nation the world has ever seen. I for one thank God America is here and remains the superpower.

Look at this -- for once, everyone still in the game has either a build or a disband; no one is sitting on the sidelines just watching.

John Roberts is the chief justice of the supreme court (USA) who just ordered a very contentious ruling that really thread the needle of what is considered constitutional. Thereby angering both Republicans (by upholding the health care law in question) and Democrats (by calling it a tax). If you're a political wonk (like me it's been real fun here for the past week.

Hi all,
Retreats are in early!

Just out of curiousity, is there any actual "diplomacy" going on any more, or have the draw participants sorted themselves out and are simply grinding through to the finish?
I'm not much interested in games where I have a fair percentage of centers but never receive any substantive press. I can't imagine anyone else is either?!?

dc431 replacement Britain found - smileyrob (Jul 01, 2012, 11:08 am) |
Gentlemen,
I have yet to hear from Ethan, and Mark Utterback (MDemagogue(at)gmail.com) has agreed to replace him. So Britain is now Mark's to play. Mark has already given build orders, but in case any of you desire to communicate with him before results are published, I'll extend the winter deadline until 8PM PDT this evening. (3AM GMT). As for Spring 1901 deadline, I'd prefer not to push it an extra week, but our normal Tuesday deadline seems a bit close. On the other hand, Wednesday is a holiday for many of us. What would you all prefer, stick with Tuesday, have it on the 4th, on Thursday the 5th, or just wait an entire week until Tuesday the 10th?
Robert

dc414 Autumn 1907 moves - archimedes (Jul 01, 2012, 7:51 am) |
Everyone,
I am headed off to Boy Scout Summer Camp, I will be keeping tabs with my Beautiful Amazon Bride and will hopefully be able to maintain contact with everyone. There is no wi-fi at camp. If I need an extension I will let Jerome know, but I am hopeful with the way the schedule is falling that I will be ok and not have to request one.
Mark

So, one retreat is due. Manolis - I've auto-retreated Spain to the only place it can go, Portugal. If you want to, you can retreat it off-the-board and build an army in Paris instead. I'll put one deadline for Winter 07, it's tomorrow at 2000GMT - but if anyone wants to, they can make their adjustments dependent upon Manolis's retreat-or-disband decision.
The adjustments are as follows (assuming the retreat stands, Manolis if you disband Spa instead of retreating to Por, you can take an army build in
Paris):
Austria: Supp 0 Unit 0 Build 0
England: Supp 8 Unit 7 Build 1
France: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0
Germany: Supp 7 Unit 5 Build 2
