DC419 W09 Results - garry.bledsoe   (Jun 08, 2012, 9:11 pm)
Builds are simple...
F Nap, A VenA Vie, F TriF Kie, A Mun
Hmmm...trust issues?
Removes are A Edi, F Bar, F Arm
We have EGP's to vote on...
AGI 3-wayAGIF 4-way
No love for Russia it seems.
NOTE: You must vote with Spring orders which are due Monday at the regularly scheduled time (Cory IS back then). ALSO NOTE: The lack of a vote constitutes a YES!ALSO ALSO NOTE: If perchance both proposals pass the MOST INCLUSIVE one is accepted (the 4-way draw).
Happy times.

Nothing witty. Too late at night for that. Sorry to see you exit Charles. Better luck in the next one.
Interesting game though. Turkey is eliminated.
Need Winter tomorrow by 6p EDT if possible please. Won't likely be able to confirm quickly tomorrow so copy the orders box please (just so you don't wonder if I got them).

Point/Counterpoint - Blueraider0   (Jun 08, 2012, 8:45 pm)
Hey hey! Diplomacy World is introducing a new article this issue - Point/Counterpoint. Two people take opposing side of a single topic and write articles why their side is correct.

I've got some topic ideas:

What's more interesting, the early game or mid game or late game
Arguing for/against a certain opening set

Also, maybe some topics that complement each other:

How to lie effectively/why you must tell the truth as much as possible

If you're interested in any of them - or if you have your own awesome idea - definitely e-mail me so I can let Doug know how much content to plan for.

My e-mail is BlueRaider0(at)gmail.com

Thanks!

DC421 - Winter 1909 Results - Corrino   (Jun 08, 2012, 5:29 pm)
Evenin' Gents!

Thanks for getting those orders in
on time.  Now we (meaning me) can post this season and proceed with my
thrill-a-minute weekend!

Received a good question today
about end-game proposals.  The gist of it was "What happens if more than
one proposal passes?"  I thought I knew the answer, but when I checked
the WB rules on-line, I found that the issue was not
addressed.  I tried to punt the ball over to Mike Sims for an ruling,
but he just quick-kicked it back to me and told me to make a decision.
Okay, then:

By
GM's decree, if more than one end-game proposal is approved
by the eligible voters, then the "winner" will be the
proposal that includes the FEWEST number of players.
So, a solo beats a
draw, and after that it is the draw with the fewest number of powers.

If more than one proposal passes and the number of included powers is equal, then there is NO RESULT and we play on.

PENDING END-GAME PROPOSALS

We have one new proposal to add to the two from yesterday.  Please include your votes with your Spring orders.

1.    2-way draw with France and Turkey

2.    4-way draw with
France, Germany, Russia and Turkey

3.    DIAS - draw including all survivors (5 players)

ADJUSTMENTS

Austria:

Remove A Tyrolia

France:

Build A Paris

Germany:

Build A Berlin

Italy:

Remove A Piedmont

Turkey:

Build A Ankara

Build A Constantinople

Build F Smyrna

NEXT DEADLINE:    Spring orders and votes are due Monday, June 11, by 18:00 Eastern time.

Cheers,

Chris

AW: DC406: Fall 07 Final! - offdisc   (Jun 08, 2012, 2:34 pm)
Very 'W'itty!  Don't you guys know that we in Dip World do not discriminate? No segregation, full acceptance. If an A feels like a W and wants to declare itself  a W, who are we to judge?

I actually have no clue how the W got in there instead of an A. That list is a straight c-n-p from the RW program. I'll check it tonight when I get home.

That being said, the message did go out after midnight and I was falling asleep while writing it, so I'm surprised half the orders didn't get erased.

dc422 Blitz Autumn 09 - jerome777   (Jun 08, 2012, 9:25 am)
Hi guys,
There's a mistake in the last adjudication. Germany's A Tyr should have moved to VENICE, not VIENNA.
I will fix this with the winter moves later.

F Naples Supports F Tuscany - Rome
A Norway - Sweden (*Fails*)

Germany:

A Galicia Supports A Silesia - Warsaw
F Holland Supports F Denmark - North Sea (*Fails*)

A Moscow Supports A Warsaw
F Rome - Naples (*Disbanded*)
F Rumania Supports A Constantinople - Bulgaria (*Fails*)
A Ukraine Supports A Warsaw
A Warsaw Hold

Germany's London fleet can only retreat to Yorkshire, so I've auto-retreated it there.

Here's the builds and disbands (Matt, if you'd prefer to disband Fleet London, then you don't need to disband any other unit):

England:   Supp 13 Unit 11 Build  1
Germany:   Supp 12 Unit 13 Remove  1
Turkey:    Supp  9 Unit  9 Build  0

We also have several EGPs to vote upon:

Turkey solo
England-Germany two-way
England-Turkey two-way
Germany-Turkey two-way
DIAS

Please ensure you vote for the EGPs in your SPRING 10 moves. Should more than one EGP pass, the MOST INCLUSIVE EGP will be the result.

The deadline for Winter 09 is tomorrow 2000GMT.

Best,

Jerome

Very 'W'itty!  Don't you guys know that we in Dip World do not discriminate? No segregation, full acceptance. If an A feels like a W and wants to declare itself  a W, who are we to judge?

I actually have no clue how the W got in there instead of an A. That list is a straight c-n-p from the RW program. I'll check it tonight when I get home.

That being said, the message did go out after midnight and I was falling asleep while writing it, so I'm surprised half the orders didn't get erased.

That being said, the message did go out after midnight and I was falling asleep while writing it, so I'm surprised half the orders didn't get erased.

Mike, you have to back up the turn (shift-tab) branch it (ctrl-b) then change the W Dev to an A Dev.  Then resolve the results again.  In Realworld (which this is – not realpolitik) you can actually build variants using the Wing unit.  This is a unit that can move anywhere land or sea but can’t capture centers.  The map shows an army cuz I put the W units and the A units as both having the same icon.-mike  From: Mike Hoffman [mailto:mrh(at)panix.com]

A "W" probably is a "Wing" ?   I presume at 15 SC your people reach the next level of development where you are allowed units that can fly. ?

Interesting game though. Turkey is eliminated.
Need Winter tomorrow by 6p EDT if possible please. Won't likely be able to confirm quickly tomorrow so copy the orders box please (just so you don't wonder if I got them).

PENDING EOG PROPOSALS:

1.    Italian solo -- No
2.    2-way draw with France and Turkey -- No
3.    4-way draw with France, Germany, Russia and Turkey -- No

GOOD-BYES:

Farewell to Rob (England) and Phil (Italy).  Should have been a third
elimination, but Russia's NMR means Austria lives on for another year.

HIGHLIGHTS?

Pretty much just a smashdown by the big three.  The orders and results speak
for themselves.

RETREATS:

Irrelevant.  England and Italy have retreats but they do not impact other
players and the retreating units would have to be removed in the Winter, so,
I've just gone ahead and retreated them off the board.

ADJUSTMENTS:

See below for full SC ownership and adjustment chart.

In short:

Austria needs to remove a unit.
France & Germany can add 1 unit each.
Turkey can add up to 3 units.

NEW END-GAME PROPOSALS:

2.    4-way draw with France, Germany, Russia and Turkey -- No

Germany's London fleet can only retreat to Yorkshire, so I've auto-retreated it there.

Here's the builds and disbands (Matt, if you'd prefer to disband Fleet London, then you don't need to disband any other
unit):

England:   Supp 13 Unit 11 Build  1
Germany:   Supp 12 Unit 13 Remove  1
Turkey:    Supp  9 Unit  9 Build  0

We also have several EGPs to vote upon:

Turkey solo
England-Germany two-way
England-Turkey two-way
Germany-Turkey two-way
DIAS

Please ensure you vote for the EGPs in your SPRING 10 moves. Should more than one EGP pass, the MOST INCLUSIVE EGP will be the result.

The deadline for Winter 09 is tomorrow 2000GMT.

Best,

Jerome

Hi guys,
There's a mistake in the last adjudication. Germany's A Tyr should have moved to VENICE, not VIENNA.
I will fix this with the winter moves later.

I wondered about that. Seemed like a sudden and confusing switch in tactics by Matthew.
