DC521 Fall 03 Results with Maps and Press - cbconnell   (Jun 17, 2015, 1:06 pm)
These are the Fall 1903 results!

England is surrounded on all sides and quickly losing ground. France is moving up from the South, Russia coming down from the North, and Germany holding the front in the East. Germany also started moving south into Tyrolia. Russia is building up a wall around Budapest to contain Austria, who was dislodged in Vienna. While Italy was busy in the North in Vienna, Turkey moved up and grabbed Naples. Even though France was busy in the North with England, he was able to capture Spain, the last remaining unclaimed supply center (come Winter 03). Don't forget that the press is at the end of the email.

The Austrian army in Vienna can retreat to Bohemia, or disband now instead of removing a unit in Winter 03.

Autumn retreat orders from Austria are due on Tuesday, February 24 at 8:30 pm MST (03:30 25-2-15 GMT)

I apologize for offending the other players in Scandinavia - I was merely trying to create a balance of forces.

To my dear friend Austria - I will offer what help I can in the unprovoked incursion on your territory.
To my friend France - I would like to open up for even friendlier relations - some kind of demilitarization of our borders - I propose A Bur - Par as a first move, followed by A Mun leaving and then perhaps a bounce between Holland & Belgium, either vice versa or perhaps in Ruhr - just some thoughts!
England - I did NOT appreciate your move into the Blight - I have not been able to perceive it in any other way than hostile - I will now by forced to take measures to ensure the safety of the Fatherland - It is not a declaration of War, but rather violence in self defense according to the articles of war.
Russia - I myself am a Swede and was planning on keeping control of Sweden - I suggest that you keep your fleet in Livonia in order to signal your friendly intent and let you northern fleet take to the Atlantic.
Turkey - nice move trying to sort out the eastern corner
Italy - play nice or you'll go the same way as any other Roman general this side of the birth of Christ

Proof that this message is genuine: I, Turkey, am waving my build, both Italy and Russia should feel better as it means what I have to offer is completely honest.

Turkey to Russia,
My apologies for not helping you to keep Budapest. I completely missed that on the account of being worried about Italy... I think you should prepare to pounce on Austria once it's down maybe Italy will be in position and willing to help this year even.

Turkey to Italy,
I will support you into Serbia (two supports) and force my way into Ionion Sea. I would like passage into Tunisia I promise not to move into Italian territory. If you take Serbia in the spring and move into Alb, you will eliminate Austrian army and you will be able to support yourself into Trieste in the fall (I will support Serbia in the fall if need be) The beauty of the plan is: Austria cannot defend itself even with the full knowledge of the plan.

I think 3 of us can work together and turn our eyes elsewhere...

Turkey out.

We had some interesting results this season! Once again, thank you to everyone for getting your orders in on time. That is very helpful.

Under attack from Russia, England got some assistance from Germany to stay in Norway. France moved in unchallenged to the Iberian Peninsula to claim Portugal. Italy was able to push back the Austrians from Trieste while Turkey claimed Greece as theirs. Austria did however manage to disband the Russian occupiers in Budapest, holding that territory for now.

Kaiser, you let me confused, for a moment I was thinking the press come from the Archduke, why the hell, me being in Galicia is something that you don't like? My game is clear, and if you are seeking an ally in west means you are jeopardising the one you already have in east. There is still opportunities to progress, we both can do an interesting game on the north front. If you continue to pursue the attack avenue, diminishing Russia influence in Scandinavia, you will not let me any other option, which means, you suddenly will become dependent to get a western ally, if they EF play that as an advantage, you might find yourself in trouble. Russia is still willing to play together with Germany. Your call.

Sultan, glad to see your movements, can we work on a strategy in case of Germany go AWOL? Looks like Germany wants to get supremacy by force, I think he will end up on EF hands very soon, as he needs time to get position to make harm to Russia, this will make him loose strategic positions if EF get an understanding. Any thoughts?

Archduke, Russia didn't had any option, it is imperative to have the area in control, as the Pipeline to supply gas to west, needs protection, Italy is trying to get the control of it near the Adriatic, and your internal security apparently wasn't able to deal with the assault. At the moment, Russia it's not convinced about Italy's truly interest, we are investigating a severe breach on Italy's Military chain and a possibility of a revolution arising from it. We are monitoring the developments closely, and if our suspicions are not confirmed, we will start negotiations to handover your territory back.

Press from R to EF
Dear chiefs of government, two great nations with Historic leaders, Russia hopes to carry on trading with your excellencies, the always difficult Energy Dossier is once again on the table. It is paramount to your industrial developments and to keep your Economy growing sustainable. Germany is acting strange, this will create tensions between G&R, Russia will dedicate enough units to contain any German aggression, however will not attack, Russia's interest is purely commercial, and not military.
In the event of any of you decide to think commercial rather than military, you will find Czar as a good ally.

DC521 Spring 02 Results with Maps and Press - cbconnell   (Jun 17, 2015, 1:01 pm)
I really like Gunboat games. Much more action early in the game than in a regular Standard game!

Germany, with a bit of help from England dislodged Russia from Sweden, but otherwise neither did much else. Russia continued his march North AND south moving into Budapest, while Turkey moved South and West to disband Austria's army in Greece. Austria didn't do too bad since he was able to dislodge Italy from Trieste. France played footsies with England in the channel again, but was not able to do much.

The Russian Fleet in Sweden can retreat to Gulf of Bothnia, Finland or disband.
The Italian Army in Trieste can retreat to Tyrolia or disband.

(The disband option here give you the chance to rebuild an army or a fleet in your home centers during the next winter adjustments, provided you have enough supply centers)

To whom it may concern:
After allowing the build last turn, I must now take Sweden, Sorry...

Further - I am in the market for an ally - would anyone of the western powers be interested?

Officially from Germany

Squidgy to Strangely Brown: Gadzooks, you're not telling me he's sharted in the pool again, are you?
----------------------------------
Hiya,

Germany here again. Geez, there's some naughty people around this Diplomacy board!

Yes Russia, I'm looking at you! When I said 'get out of Galicia' I meant it!!!

And as for you Austria, you might be my brethren but quit it with the 'Mr Floppy' shit already or you'll be joining Russia and Italy on the naughty step.
----------------------------------
Austria is in a position to be stopped now before they can harm either Russia or Turkey. If the Tsar and the Sultan are able to spare the units to cut support of Austrian units, Italy is poised and ready to strike.
----------------------------------
It is my belief that during 1902 we will see russia trying to first take norway with it's stp fleet having the moscow army follow up the plan is obviously to establish a naval presence in nwg if that fails he will most likely move to bar and liv with his fleets assuming that the german player does what I think he will do the only sensible thing in taking Sweden that will come from denmark after that the german player will take norway england will take nwg and eng this turn supported by nth he will think that france will go south which is something a good franceplayer would do next turn after bouncing in eng for one turn. the fleet in ven will go to alb that is the only reason why he would build a fleet there to try to take out greece apu will convoy to tun this turn as well but what he should do instead is that ion should move to eas to bounce the turkish fleet in aeg that will move there to make room for the fleet in con that will set sail ank and bul will bounce each other. the austrian player should support ser into bul with gre and then support bud with vie in and then try to use vie to take back tri because the italian player will try to take ser if its empty obviously russian will try to take bud and bla will move into rum

Hiya,

Germany here. I am not very happy with you France, taking Burgundy like that!

I will forgive you if you move out of Burgundy. And don't bother going to Munich, I will cover it with Kiel.

And I am not happy with you either Russia, get out of Galicia or we will go to war!
--------------------------------
England to Germany: Please bounce Sweden and I will help you take Sweden with my army next year.
--------------------------------
France to Italy: Since we are communicating privately, let me repeat my offer of DMZ Pie and Gol, and no fleet builds in Rom or Mar. What do you think?
--------------------------------
Turkey to Russia: Ooh you little liar you! You screwed everything up last time, not me! You published my move suggestion on the message board!

Welcome to the DC521 Gunboat Game!

I know that many of you are busy this time of year, in particular those that might be playing the in the Blitz games. So we will be taking this game a bit slower than a typical gunboat game might to not put pressure on anyone - including me. Thank you to everyone for getting your orders in on time. (Now we just need to get the GM to send out these reports in a timely manner.)

This season showed the typical opening moves on the standard map. There isn't much to report yet. I foresee many more bounces in the fall as everyone tries to grab the same supply centers.

You will find the Press at the bottom of the email, after the results.

Maps are attached to my emails (both bmp and gif files) showing the order movements and the results of the adjudication. I have will also send the dpy file in the event anyone wants to try some options before submitting orders. You will find these same files on the website game page as well.

Turkey to Austria: What happens with Russia in the Spring will determine if you're friend or foe.
--------------------------------------
Turkey to Italy: You can expect southern fleets from me. It is up to you whether they are for offense or defense.

Hello to Russia from Turkish Sultan.
Please, consider DMZ in black sea and joint operation against our enemies.

Hiya,
I am very excited to play. I am open for suggestions, alliances and dmz's.
I will send one press each turn, and only one - so anyone else claiming to be Germany will be lying. I'm wondering if anyone here speaks Danish or Swedish?
I would also like to declare my alliance with our brethren in Austria - let there perpetual peace between us!
--------------------------------------
England to France: You can have Belgium. Deal?
--------------------------------------
England to Germany: You can have Belgium. Deal?
--------------------------------------
England to Russia: As long as you don't build F StP(nc) we'll be tight.
--------------------------------------
Russia to Germany: Any incursion into Sweden just guarantees yours will be the first nation eliminated in this game. Don't make me regret my initial kindness.
--------------------------------------
Russia to Austria: It will be interesting to see who does what with Gal this turn. I'm going to trust what you wrote me.
--------------------------------------
Austria and Italy, you should work together. Attack Turkey and I will help. Once the Turkey is gone, we can turn our forces toward the rest!
Tzar
--------------------------------------
France to Italy: I propose Pie and Gol as DMZ with no fleet builds in Mar or Rom.
--------------------------------------
France to Italy: Remember nobody knows that we're communicating privately. Keep it that way.
--------------------------------------
Italy to Austria: Just covering my bases. I'd rather go Lepanto on Turkey's ass if you know what I mean.
--------------------------------------
Russia to Turkey: Our private conversations guarantee us victory if you don't screw it up like you did last time. Everybody else is playing Gunboat.

Yep!  Magicians were in!

Don't know why they didn't come up... maybe I figured they were spring orders since Pod-Moo was in there.  In any case, no NMR, but it did not help change too much.  The two Magicians are dislodged still, but one or the other can retreat to Cyriss as part of this winter.

I have the distinct honor of having been stabbed by all of my neighbors
simultaneously three different times this game! Haven is so cruel. Also for
the record I think I lost 5 centers not four.
