dc410 winter 08 - catsfather   (Mar 16, 2012, 3:24 pm)
England's gone. Italy's gone. France builds a fleet in Brest.
Germany builds armies in Berlin and Munich.
An AFG draw is proposed again. Vote Yes if in favour.

I could not locate orders for Russia - though it's doubtful that the Tsar could have held off the German and Turk attacks regardless.  Both Germany and Turkey pick off one Russian center apiece.  Elsewhere, England marches into an undefended Paris, establishes control of Brest, and also sails into MAO.  Germany's move to Spain foils Turkey's attack on Portugal.
Three units are dislodged, and since one of them has multiple options, we'll have to have an Autumn 1908 retreat phase.  The Russian army in Budapest may retreat to Galicia or OTB.
The Russian army in Moscow may retreat to Livonia or OTB.  The Turkish fleet in Mid-Atlantic
Ocean may retreat to Irish Sea, North Africa, or OTB. Winter 1908 adjustments will be as follows:  England:  build 2  Russia:  remove 2  (or fewer if any retreats are OTB)

The people have spoken, and the verdict is AGAINST the proposed end-of-game.  We'll try again in the Spring.
Sadly, that means we must now say "Do svidaniya!" to our stalwart Tsar.  Thanks for sticking it out and fulfilling your obligations to the end, Bret.  Maybe you can catch a ride over the to ArchDuck's place and you two can commiserate together over a drink or seven.

DC 409: Fall 1908 - AceRimmer   (Mar 15, 2012, 2:51 pm)
What a very delicate balance! Three factions equally disposed to occupy Venice. You may well ask yourself, what is 2 + 2 + 2? And the answer is: Turkey. The Italian and Franco-German assaults on Venice fail, leaving Turkey in possession. Consequently, almost no units move this season. Just the following:
France: F Marseilles - Spain
France: A Tuscany - Rome
Turkey: F Constantinople - Aegean.
Heck, I'm inclined to not include a new map and let you just reuse the one from last season. Why waste paper?
There are no retreats, but there are adjustments due to the transfer of Rome. Italy must disband. France may build.
Austria: Supp 3 Unit 3 Build 0
France: Supp 11 Unit 10 Build 1
Germany: Supp 8 Unit 8 Build 0
Italy: Supp 2 Unit 3 Remove 1
Turkey: Supp 10 Unit 10 Build 0
As you might expect, orders are due tomorrow.

to have vote Yes to the proposed AFG.

Italian F Naples can retreat to Apulia.  I'll assume that's the order
unless I hear otherwise.

Then...

England must remove a unit.  After the disband of Liverpool, they're out.

France has a build.

Germany has two builds.

Depending upon whether Naples retreats, or goes OTB ... oh, it makes
no difference.  Italy is out too.

Builds, removals, and retreats due Friday at 18:00 GMT.

Okay, France got in to Warsaw and I botched my orders and ruined the
chance to break the French fleets. He's behind our lines now. I vote
yes to the French solo. The block was possible, but I blew it.

Well Guys,

I woke up late today with that special feeling "I think I need to see a doctor!"  I'm off to sick call shortly and hope to be back no later than 10.  Maybe earlier if I am lucky. I'll get to the game as soon as I can when I get back.  I apologize in advance for the delay

Fall deadline is 18:00 GMT tonight. If you've not had a "received"
from me then I've not got your orders.
There's a proposal for an AFG draw on the table. Vote Yes if in
favour. If you don't vote then it's taken as a No.

Moving along... unfortunately we have an nmr this turn. No word from Darren, so Italy's troops stay put.
The english solo proposal.... fails.

We had one retreat needed from France, but since the only option was Gascony I took the liberty of retreating it. Tim, by all means if you'd like it off the board, just let me know.  Now there is only one build due, also from France.  The lone disband is for our English player, who will be an observer for the rest of the game.  Thanks Joshua for sticking it out.

DC406: Spring 04 Retreats! - offdisc   (Mar 13, 2012, 11:57 pm)
Alliances forged and broken, centers gathered and lost, intrigue abounds across the land.
Why is it that every time I try to come up with an original opening for my summaries, it sounds like Astrology -- meaningful in every Dip game, depending on how you read it? It's all been done before. As it has been, so it shall be.

Well, at least one thing I've learned by playing in every Haven game besides this one (or maybe *I* am the Nomads! JK!), is never to count yourself out until someone is declared the winner!

That said, if one power gets close to 20 centers, it just might be time to gang up on them.  Just saying.... Smile
Spring 04 retreats:Gnomes: A Starkadh - Hundred Acre Wood
Hobbits: A Thirsty Desert - KrikkitNomads: A Paras Derval - Kingdom of HeartsUndead: A Uhl Belk - TerabithiaWizards: F Great Glacier - RIVER OF THE DAWN

Fall Moves are due TUESDAY 3/20 (at) 5PM MST!  Don't be late!
Happy St Patty's Day!!!
Thanks,Mike

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."

"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."
