How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. DC 398, Fall 1906 - alwayshunted   (Mar 13, 2012, 8:06 pm)
Moving along... unfortunately we have an nmr this turn. No word from Darren, so Italy's troops stay put.
The english solo proposal.... fails.

We had one retreat needed from France, but since the only option was Gascony I took the liberty of retreating it. Tim, by all means if you'd like it off the board, just let me know.  Now there is only one build due, also from France.  The lone disband is for our English player, who will be an observer for the rest of the game.  Thanks Joshua for sticking it out.
So Tim, your build is due in two days, Thursday March 15 at 16:00 MDT.  That's 22:00 GMT. Get it to me sooner and I can probably run it earlier.
Here is the fall turn:------------England: F Wales - Liverpool (*Bounce*)

Hi group,
So, I heard from Darren.  He apparently did send orders, and he forwarded me his "sent" version.  It appears legit to me, but unfortunately I did not receive them. I have searched all folders, junk and otherwise.... nothin'.
So there is not much I can do, the turn having been run and all. Unless there is a grand uprising against my decision I have to leave things as they are. On behalf of hotmail I apologize to Darren.  I know it is not perfect, but I do try to confirm all orders sent. If you don't hear back from me and the deadline is approaching, don't hesitate to re-send things. I don't mind a bit.
The game continues.....

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."

"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."

DC412 - Spring 1908 Results - Corrino   (Mar 12, 2012, 6:04 pm)
Episode 15 - The Final Four

Well, March Madness has not yet begun but we already have our Final Four.  After a pleasant few years of Viennese exile, the Tsar has finally been lovingly put out to pasture.  Elsewhere, not much in the way of surprises:
England recaptures MAO.The Italians make their usual token attack upon the lucky English fleet in Portugal, then steam meekly off to North Africa.Turkey unilaterally DMZ's Ukraine.  Is it worth either side fighting for?The diplomats, sensing that fatigue might finally be setting in amongst the warhawks, begin to discuss the peace.

RETREATS:  Italian fleet MAO has one legal retreat, to North Africa.  I have gone
ahead and posted that retreat for the sake of expediency.  Italy has 24 hours to deny that retreat and instead remove the fleet from the board.
END OF GAME PROPOSAL:  A 4-way draw, including England, Germany, Italy and Turkey has been proposed.  Please submit votes with your Fall orders.  All FIVE remaining players must vote in favor of the draw for it to pass.  Russia is not officially eliminated until after the Winter turn.
NEXT DEADLINE:  Fall 1908 orders are due Thursday, March 15, by 18:00 Eastern time.

Cheers,Chris

Back to Cory for Thursday everyone. Best of luck. Can't wait to catch you all on the Spring flip-flop.

All,Sorry for the (probably) later than norm results. Day slipped away...fortunately everyone either sent me orders or copied the orders box! Looks like we have a retreat option:
Italian A Bur can retreat to Gas, Mar or OTB
Get that to me by 4p CST tomorrow and I will move us along to Fall where Cory will resume on Thursday (the 8th at 3p CST - I believe that is his scheduled time). I will check in with retreat tomorrow and will follow anxiously what Cory does for Fall and Winter because I will make another guest (celebrity) appearance next Spring.

Stonehenge - jerome777   (Mar 12, 2012, 4:44 pm)
CHUFFIN' NORA!!!

There's been a rare spot available in one of the most interesting variants that exists for about three weeks now!

Rolling Eyes

I know this is Blitz season but surely one of you valiant thrillseekers out there fancy a bit of Dark Ages fun? If it helps, I'll let you sing Black Sabbath and Rainbow really loud whilst you type your orders to me - how does that sound?

Mr. Green

Come on you lot. Main season deadlines are once a week, so it's not as if you'll have to do too much work in keeping your blitzing tools sharp. First signup that joins the game gets admitted straight in. And the other nine players are nice boys and girls, they hardly ever stab, I promise...!

Note: I am asking the Mods to adjudicate tomorrow's Summer retreat, so Fletch, make sure your order is sent to orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com!

Okay, so no doubt about it, this one is kind of quirky.  All of a sudden, there's mass non-movement on the eastern front.  Kind of like a giant group hug with a lot of holding.  But in and around Italy (why is it always Italy?), there's unaccepted support, a 2-on-2 bounce, and a Turkish fleet vacating the Ionian Sea.  As usual, I'm not sure what to make of it all.

There is one retreat order due tomorrow: the Italian Fleet in Tyrrhenian Sea may retreat to Ionian Sea, Naples, or off the board.  Order due at 14:00 CST.

Italy, I'll assume you're retreating to Tuscany and released that dpy
and map tomorrow evening.  If you want to retreat OTB then tell me

The proposed draw fails, but is immediately re-proposed.  Vote on the
AFG with your Fall orders.  Yes, if you're in favour of awarding the
victory to AFG with everyone getting survivor points, plus points for
the SCs they control.  Vote No (or don't vote) if you're opposed.

Just a heads up everyone I will be travelling the next couple of days and may not be able to respond to messages. So if you do contact me and you don`t get an answer its because I can`t get internet, I should be able to get access by Friday at the latest.
Happy diplomacizing!

Hi all,You'd think that as the game progressed and the number of players was whittled down, that order processing would go smoother. I have come to believe the exact opposite. There is an inverse relationship between the length of the game and the troubles of the players. I will need to do more research on this though.

Finally, all builds are in!  But I got held up last night and was too exhausted to run the turn when I got home. We'll push the deadline again. I really hoped to be back on a regular schedule -- maybe that's too much to hope for with a map the size of Haven.

Anyway, it's a gorgeous day outside, so no more griping, complaining, whining! Smile
