dc371: Fa09 Results! - dknemeyer (Jun 28, 2011, 4:58 pm) |
Diplomats,
The battle of the ancients is beginning to take on the distinct feeling of World War 1. All sides are dug in and progress is slowly, painfully, being made. In the process the poor Carthaginians are forever caught in the gears of war.
The only retreat is Roman F Gulf of Tacape. I've taken the liberty of auto-retreating to Thapsus. Nick, if you prefer a disband to gain a build just let me know that with your build orders.
Speaking of build orders, those are due in just under 47 hours. Thanks to disbands each of Egypt, Greece and Rome have a build coming. Two for Rome if F GoT is disbanded off the board. Other players may feel free to send along conditional alternate orders in the event Rome choose the disband course.
Happy dipping,
Dirk

DC376 WB11 Rd 2 - Summer Retreats 1914 - Corrino (Jun 28, 2011, 4:36 pm) |
Hi Guys,
Italian F Mid-Atlantic Ocean retreats to Gascony.
NEXT DEADLINE: Fall 1914 orders are due Thursday, June 30, at 18:00 EDT. However... I have a social obligation that evening that might get in the way. If everyone could have their orders in and marked FINAL by 17:00, it would greatly increase the chances that I could get the adjudication out beforehand. Otherwise, there is a chance it could be delayed until Friday morning.
COMING UP: I will be on holiday from July 1 to July 15, with intermittent access to a computer. I have already spoken to Mike Sims about covering for me on the night of July 4th. Other seasons we'll just have to take one at a time and see how it goes.
Cheers,
Chris

dc384 Winter 1904 deadline extension - jerome777 (Jun 28, 2011, 3:02 pm) |
Hi everyone,
Although the deadline for the Winter 04 builds and disbands has now passed, I'm going to give 24 hours grace since there are two players from whom I've not received their build/disband instructions. I think an auto-adjudicate might affect the game unfairly at this point, compared to the inconvenience of waiting 24 hours to get the Spring 05 negotiations underway, so I'm willing to give 24 hours to see if this can be unnecessary.
Therefore, I'm going to extend the Winter 04 deadline to 2000GMT tomorrow (Wednesday 29 June), and also send emails to the affected players asking them to submit their orders. I will adjudicate either once both players have responded, or at 2000GMT tomorrow, whichever comes first. I will definitely
auto-adjudicate at this point if necessary, in line with the DC house rules. In the meantime, if any player that has submitted their builds chooses to do so, they can submit new build orders anytime up to the adjudication.
I'll delay the Spring 1905 moves deadline by 24 hours to 2000GMT Monday 4 July, and if there are any retreats from Spring 05, these will be due for 2000GMT Tuesday 5 July.
Stay cool,
Jerome[Reply] |
DC 373: Shameless Plug and F1907 Retreats - AceRimmer (Jun 28, 2011, 10:32 am) |
This morning, I was reading Dirk Knemeyer's blog (he has one, y'know), and I learned of his latest venture -- one, I think, which is likely to be near-ish and dear-ish to Dippers' hearts. In partnership with some friends, Dirk is channeling his obsessive strategy game design skills along with a lifetime of frivolous gaming pursuits, not to mention a fair supply of entrepreneurial experience...
And the brainchild has been christened Conquistador Games (http://www.conquistadorgames.com/). To my way of thinking, the hands-down eye candy is "Road to Enlightenment". But I'm weird that way. Regardless, unless you're really upset about the English army in Moscow, you may turn a favor for your worthy foe and visit the site. Share it with your friends.
Elsewhere...
The Russian army in Moscow retreats to Sevastopol.
The French fleet in Ionian Sea steers for the open waters of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

DC376 WB11 Rd 2 - Spring 1914 Results - Corrino (Jun 27, 2011, 8:12 pm) |
Hi Players,
As anyone who read the recent public press would expect, both end-game proposals were voted down. No new EGP are proposed.
Highlights:
A mighty land battle over Munich. It stays in French hands for now.
A mighty sea battle over MAO and Brest. This one goes the other way, with England gaining the former and holding the latter.
Turkey fills into Prussia, but otherwise just hangs out in the south and the far north.
RETREATS: Italian F Mid-Atlantic Ocean can retreat to Gascony or North Africa or OTB.
NEXT DEADLINE: Italian retreat is due tomorrow, Tuesday, June 28, by 18:00 EDT.
Cheers,
Chris

???But this Caesar does not pit man against man: he throws a legion at you where you are weakest as he throws a stone from a catapult; and that legion is as a man with one head, a thousand arms, and no religion.???
- ???Caesar and Cleopatra??? by George Bernard Shaw
Today, in the role of Caesar, we have Dirk. For a third straight season, his orders will permit no obstruction. He hurls a legion at Moscow. A catapult???s stone lands in Belgium. He lends support to the seizing of Silesia. The godless English march forward.
EFG stand in a circle and trade centers to the left. England takes Belgium. France takes Holland. Germany takes Denmark. I???m getting dizzy.
Meanwhile, Austria kind of claims a victory, if dislodging the French forward can be thought of as victory.
Three units are dislodged. The Austrian army in Silesia has no retreat and is disbanded.
The Russian army in Moscow auto-retreats to Sevastopol.
The French fleet in Ionian Sea may retreat to Albania, Apulia, Eastern Mediterranean, or OTB.
That retreat is due tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CST, Mark.
Looking ahead to the Winter, we have two builds. Austria gets to rebuild his army. England gets a build from Moscow (but Russia does not disband, as he was already a unit short). That order will be due on Wednesday.

England: Supp 8 Unit 7 Build 1

Usual thing: if you've not had a "received" from me then I've not got your
orders.
Extra bit: it seems that two sets of orders have been sent to me, but
haven't arrived. If anyone has sent orders, but not had a "received" then
would you let me know when you sent them by emailing
hamish.williams(at)murraybeith.co.uk ... and send the orders again.
Thanks.
