dc378 deadline approaching - mjn82   (Jun 27, 2011, 11:16 am)
Hey guys on vacation in alabama. On the beautiful gulf beach my orders are in. still working to get the draw. Mike

Usual thing: if you've not had a "received" from me then I've not got your
orders.

Extra bit: it seems that two sets of orders have been sent to me, but
haven't arrived. If anyone has sent orders, but not had a "received" then
would you let me know when you sent them by emailing
hamish.williams(at)murraybeith.co.uk ... and send the orders again.

Thanks.

Gentlemen,

My sincere apologies. I am sitting in an airport right now on my way home. It's been a struggle to keep up with things, and with the unexpected delay of the last turn I had to put the game on hold for a while. If you can hang on for one more day I will get the turn out as when I get home.

Mike, the only previous hold-ups were a day or two at most. I highly doubt anyone dropped out because of that. This delay is a different story I realize, and I do apologize.

He disappeared for a
while earlier in the game and the constant hold-ups were I suspect the reason
that the original Russia and France both dropped out.

Hi Players,

As you now know, it was England I was waiting on.  I was worried that I had lost his orders and was giving him and the TD's time to recover a receipt before I published the NMR.  Unfortunately, we''ve now established that English orders were not submitted for the Fall.

Looking at the results, and the moves Ray says he would have submitted, there appear to be two consequences of immediate import.  Hard to tell whether either one will affect the outcome of the game in a significant way.

(1)  England loses MAO to Italy.  However, he still possesses superiority of naval strength in the area, so we might suspect the loss is temporary; and

(2)  By not moving to Ruhr, the Russian army dislodged from Munich now has a space to which it can retreat.  Otherwise, it would have been forced to disband.

In other news:

Both End-Game proposals (EIT, FIT) have failed.  See below for a new batch.

France takes Munich, with help from both Italy and Turkey.  France gets a build.  France gets a build!

Turkey completes the conquest of Russia.

Germany is going to have to think of new orders, or does he?  Was he supporting the Russians in Munich, or just Munich in general?  Tune in Monday to find out!

RETREATS:

English F Mid-Atlantic Ocean can retreat to Irish Sea or Gascony or OTB.
Russian A Munich can retreat to Ruhr or OTB.
Russian A St Petersburg can retreat to Finland or Norway or OTB.

ADJUSTMENTS:

France and Turkey are up 1.

Russia is down 1.

See tables below for full details.

END-GAME PROPOSALS:

1.  2-way draw including England and Turkey (ET).

2.  4-way draw to include France, Italy, Russia and Turkey (RIFT).

End game votes are due with Spring orders on Monday, not tonight.  If you wish to submit additional EGP for the Spring you may do so prior to tonight's deadline.

NEXT DEADLINE:  Autumn retreats and Winter adjustments are due tonight.  That's Friday, June 24, at 18:00.

Diplomats,

With all of our leaders again functional the war continues apace! Heavy lies the head of Caesar back in Rome, as both Egypt and Greece made relevant gains on her position. Might this portend another draw vote soon? Or does the EG alliance have bloodlust on their minds?

Once again, no retreats. It is a cold epoch here in the Med as summer and autumn are virtually non-existent as seasons over the last decade. Wink

Happy dipping,

Dirk

didn't open his mail until now I'm going to wait until I get his orders.

Results

First of all, my apologies for the late
results. I was in the hospital earlier this week and these last two days I have
been less than coherent. With that said please look over the results carefully.
I am feeling much better this evening so maybe things will get back to normal.

Everyone has a build
to make so the Winter deadline will be June 23 at 21:00 GMT

I have attached a map and the .dpy file.
Please report any errors immediately.

I was wondering...it seemed stunning that both England and France
would have NMR'd. Good to see you guys are still with us!

Somehow, I lost both French and English orders, but they have
forwarded me their orders and my reciept of them. Sooooo,
readjudication! Interestingly, this doesn't change a whole lot, but
it does change a bit. Ruh remains open due to an English/German
bounce, and the English fleet in Nwy is still defeated, but with Nwg
occupied, Bar is the only possible retreat
destination. Auto-retreat enacted, Benjy let me know if you want it OTB.

French/English orders are on top.

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really
mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you
didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How
could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had
happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow,
even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun
shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that
stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small
to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know
now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only
they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth
fighting for."
