Well, well, well. It seems we have a new lead rider. Monsignor Nigs, if you would be so kind to pass the yellow jersey to Sultan Tony, who has passed you on the climbing stage to assume the top spot in our peloton. Are you tired, or just about to gain your second wind? We'll find out when the race resumes next week. There is are still miles and miles to go to reach our finish line.
Headlines:
The British Isles are looking more and more like Epcot Center every day. You knew about the Russians in Liverpool and the French in Yorkshire. Well, say "Hello" to the Italian troops who just disembarked in Clyde! As astonishing as that is, I find myself fixated on just one small question. What in the world are Italians going to
eat in Scotland?
France, having helped the carry the Italians to the moors, celebrates by reoccupying Marseilles.
The Kaiser has gone on holiday. Again. Forgot to tell his admirals and his generals he was going. Oops! Well, he didn't really like Kiel all that much, anyway. Lots of smelly old factories and such. Things are much nicer in Holland.
Russia loses Moscow to the Ottoman swarms, but finds the loss is easier to take when he is able to walk into the biergartens of Munchen!
And that's the way it went in Fall 1907, in the land of Europe. Entertaining as always. At least, it is from out here. Hope it's just as much fun on the ground!
RETREATS: German A Kiel is auto-retreated to Holland.
ADJUSTMENTS: See table below for counts.
Germany and Italy must remove 1 unit.
Russia and Turkey are building 1
unit.
NEXT DEADLINE: Winter adjustments are due by 18:00 EDT tomorrow, Friday, May 13.
Cheers,
Chris

dc380 fall 1907 results! - coryfucius (May 12, 2011, 4:45 pm) |
The DIAS fails, so the game continues.
England captures Berlin but loses control of Munich; Austria also pushes an army into Burgundy. Turkey, with Italian support, sails into Western Med, overpowering the English attempt to sail into the Med. Italy holds in Naples, reclaiming that home center.
No retreats are due, so we go directly to the winter adjustments:
England: build 1
Italy: build 1
Turkey: remove 1
Winter 1907 adjustments will be due tomorrow, Friday 5/13 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Thanks!
Cory

DC 373: Fall 1904 - AceRimmer (May 12, 2011, 9:36 am) |
Once again, I had late orders yesterday. And when I did receive them, I was not at liberty to adjudicate. So, with my apologies, your Fall 1904 adjudication is a day late.
Now that I am GM???ing this game, I suddenly find myself reading Shakespeare???s Julius Caesar in full. There are some excellent Diplomacy references. If you should recognize the following players, be careful. Be very, very careful.
???[Cassius] reads much;
He is a great observer, and he looks
Quite through the deeds of men???
Seldom he smiles, and smiles in such a sort,
As if he mock???d himself, and scorn???d his spirit
That could be mov???d to smile at anything.
Such men as he be never at heart???s ease,
Whiles they behold a greater than themselves???
Or,
???And why should Caesar be a tyrant, then?
Poor man! I know, he would not be a wolf,
But that he sees the Romans are but sheep;
He were no lion were not Romans hinds.???
Even after all these years, I am still startled by the accuracy of this second sentiment. Ah, it takes me back to my first game of Diplomacy when a seemingly friendly Italian persuaded me (Austria) that Greece is rightfully Italian. The rest of that game was all too brief.
Fall 1904 is a season of patience and minor adjustments. Lots of holds and supports (especially from a certain Kaiser). Eight units move successfully. But not a single one of them enters a supply center. Six of the moves are south of the stalemate line. And only one move meets any sort of resistance (the Russian seizure of Armenia).
Austria hasn???t cleared up his communication problems yet ??? he has yet another void support.
France releases doves as a peace gesture to Italy. At least, I think that???s what he means.
And there are no retreats. The Turkish fleet in Armenia is no more. And therefore we build. Or, put more properly, Austria, England, and France build. Russia must disband. Let us have these orders by tomorrow (Friday) at the usual time of 10:00 a.m. CST.

Could I ask everyone to please check the website for adjudications and deadlines. I will also be careful about reminding players over this period, although
