DC 338 Snafu - derekthefeared2 (Feb 22, 2011, 10:31 pm) |
So it appears I've made a pretty huge error and for that I appologize. I sent out the results for last fall and day early and caused 2 players to miss the deadline. Therefore although no solution is clearly perfect, we will redo fall 2011 with new orders for everyone.
Sorry to everyone for this, especially Austria who had his first choices for moves revealed.
If possible please submit new spring 2011 orders by this Thursday at 4:00 PM. If this deadline is too quick for anyone, please let me know and I can extend. The spring 2011 maps and results are attached to this e-mail for your reference.

Welcome to the Game Grid...
We say goodbye to our first player, and it wasn't who we expected. France played a good game, it started well - but is no more. Thanks Benjy. Please feel free to contribute an end of game statement when the game is over.
I am not sure if it is just that time of the game, or if other reasons were a factor, but we had two players with NMRs this turn. I??believe??that was a primary reason both France and Italy did not keep supply centers. Please remember to turn in preliminary orders early,??especially for situations when something unexpected comes up.??
Austria is still in the game, and captured Rome in the process. Turkey played smart: convoying an army by two fleets all the way to the Italian peninsula. England, Germany and Russia continue to dominate the rest of the board. Russia however showed Germany that it was superior on land while Germany proved dominant on the sea. The only dislodged unit was Germany from Munich, and I moved that unit to the only available location for retreat - Ruhr.
Movement results for Fall of 1904.
Austria: A Venice - Rome.
England: F Barents Sea Supports F North Sea - Norway.

Looking for a few other players - Blueraider0 (Feb 22, 2011, 7:21 pm) |
I am willing to GM if no other such GM was found. But if someone else could GM, I'd love to play and certainly everyone might feel better about the GM being as impartial as possible. That said, if we can get a GM they can post the game on DC. But my friends don't have DC accounts and they refuse to make any (there's no good reason, just laziness), so we'd have to say we're capping the game at 2 players (my 4 friends + me = 5) and explain why. Mike, is that an offer to GM??? [Reply] |

I might be willing to join. I'm going to CodCon this weekend so things have felt hectic as I get ready for that. But once I'm back I'll be able to take a clear look at my schdule and decide whether I can make such a commitment.....

dc371: Sp01 Results! - dknemeyer (Feb 22, 2011, 4:53 pm) |
Diplomats,
There is nothing in the world of gaming quite so sweet as the first turn adjudication in Diplomacy. All of the time waiting and wondering about what will happen is replaced with the only truth there is in this diabolical game: the state of the board.
The action this turn took a decidedly eastern tilt. Everyone save Rome seems to be heading east, suggesting that the fair homelands of Egypt and Persia may prove our initial battlegrounds. Of course, only the principals know what is happening diplomatically, behind-the-scenes...
There are no retreats as we move on to the fall! Please note I have set up an alias for this game at: dc371(at)knemeyer.com. Sending to this address will send your note to me, all players including yourself, and the DC forum for this game. Thus please use this instead of just sending to the DC forum. Thanks.

Persian Press:
The growing population of Persia has led us to seek new lands to supply our people. Fertile plains lie to the North and the South, with few to challenge our vanguard. So far all neighbours appear friendly and welcoming, which bodes well for our future. It has not yet proved necessary to resort to force, and we long that this may continue.
Our sailors, unused to deep-sea voyages, are reluctant to venture away from the coast. We hear that there are islands which await cultivation, and will need to develop the skills to explore. But not yet.

The end of Hembria, I fear, may arrive in the Fall. Or, it may not. It's all a bit of a guessing game with Adaria in Liverpool and London.
The Holy Roman Empire (Trigspor) cedes Spain to Adaria and is dislodged by Zonotrichia into Munich.
Meanwhile, Zono grabs two world capitals: St. Petersburg and Berlin.
All of which leads to an Itean disband (as A Swe-Fin blocks St. Pete's only retreat).
Speaking of only retreats...
Hembrian F Belgium retreats to Picardy.
Trigsporan A Berlin retreats to Munich.
If either of you wants to retreat off the board, you have 24 hours to inform me. Otherwise, let's have our F1908 orders submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. CST next Tuesday, February 29th... or March 1st.

Hey gang,
I forgot to mention the draw proposal, which failed. I think I probably wouldn't have forgotten it if it had passed.... hopefully.
Now, there is a new proposal on the table, votes will be due with orders next spring, not tomorrow. It is for a five way draw E/F/G/I/R. Remember that it must be unanimous, and if you fail to submit a vote it counts as a no.
Cheers,
Warren

Ah, wish I could join. But with a 3-week trip ahead I'm afraid I won't be able to live up to the commitment needed.
UNLESS of course you decide to stall the kick-off until after May 8? Please?

I'm confident we'll have a full compliment by then Frank, but you never know. Maybe when you get back from your trip there will still be space for an empire-builder such as yourself |

...with nonexistence. A tough lession to learn, as the Magicians, Nomads, and Samurai may have a future in some other world, but certainly not in this game. Our first 3 eliminations after just 3 years! That is rough... Send me end-game-statements while they're fresh in your mind, and I'll hold them till the end. Curious if you think anything needs a tweak in the map, as after this rendition of the game I'm going to make what I will likely consider the only and final changes to the map!
RETREAT!
Barbarian A Cathal can retreat to Pendaran Wood or Arctic Barrens.
Undead F Terabithia can retreat to SAVAGE SEA.
Leprechaun A Necronomicon can retreat to Merrow.
Centaur F SUNLESS SEA can retreat to MIST MARSH or Calormen.
Pirate F HIGH SEAS can retreat to MERMAIDS LAGOON or Riku or
GRIEF REEF or THON THALAS or Abby Normal or Grendel
or Tarsis or Far Far Away.
Going to do the retreats separate from builds this turn just cuz they can impact the builds in weird ways. RETREATS are due tomorrow Thursday 2/17, 3pm Central! Send in your builds too if you know what they'll be, or wait for the retreats. Builds will be due Friday.
Enjoy!

At long last, we are underway again. I've been on the road, sorry I'm late.
For once I think I actually have some idea of what is going on in a game I'm running.... but I'm sure I'm missing something.
So there was one retreat for Turkey, with only one option. Normally I make people submit a retreat order, but all things considered in this situation I ran the retreat from Constantinople to Aegean Sea. Moving on to Winter 1904, a number of adjustments are due. See the bottom of the adjudication for the status. Winter will be due in two days, Wednesday February 23, 17:00 MST.

Hey gang,
I forgot to mention the draw proposal, which failed.
Cheers,
Warren
