dc358 spring 1904 results! - coryfucius (Jan 31, 2011, 6:56 pm) |
Both England and Russia NMR yet again. France may appear to have done so as well, as he issues hold orders for both of his units.
Germany and Italy bounce each other in the English Channel, while Italy moves to Gascony. Germany takes advantage of the Russian NMR to sail unopposed into Norway. Austria reoccupies Sevastopol, while Turkey moves an army to Armenia. Austria and Turkey bounce each other in Budapest, which also stymies Turkey's attempted convoy to Rumania. Italy marches unopposed into Trieste, while Germany advances into Tyrolia.
No retreats are due, so we can proceed directly to fall 1904, for which orders will be due Thursday, February 3 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.

DC 363 WB11 - Spring 1904 Results - Corrino (Jan 31, 2011, 6:55 pm) |
Hi Players,
You've really set me a challenge this time. Try as I might to come up with something clever to say about this season's moves, I'm really having trouble coming up with more than a thoughtful "Hmmmmmm."
Conflict in just two provinces this turn, and both were unsuccessful. Austria, with help from Turkey, held off a renewed Italian attack on Trieste, and Italy likewise held firm in the Ionian against an attempt by Turkey to break out of the Aegean.
I suppose if I were going to highlight anything it would be the interesting array of pieces on the board. We've noted in prior turns the impressive mixing of armies in Austria and the Balkans. This time the thing that jumps out at me are the unusually tight concentrations of naval
power.
The Russian armada completely owns Scandinavia. Not sure I've ever seen four northern Russian fleets so early in the game before. Heck, I've seen the Tsar solo with fewer northern fleets than that!
The French navy has taken up a real liking to the south of Britain. The English King has pulled back in defense, but could it be too little too late?
In the Med, we have a stand-off at the moment, but watch out. Here comes the Turkish Black Sea fleet, steaming through the Dardanelles on her way to join her sister ships. Will Italy be able to hold her ground, er, I mean seas? Time will tell.
RETREATS: None
NEXT DEADLINE: Fall 1904 orders are due Thursday, Feb 3, at 18:00 EST.
BONUS PLUG: Temple Con is this week-end in Providence (really Warwick), R.I. There will be Diplomacy. In fact, it is the First Event on the Nor'Easter (four
Northeastern events) and the Second Event on the North American Grand Prix for 2011. DC's very own Dirk Knemeyer is flying in to play, and I'm figuring on dropping by to say "Hi." I'm pretty much retired from face-to-face (after a very brief and unremarkable career) but I might get drafted into a game. Anyway, I know it's short notice, but if you're in the neighborhood (like anywhere in New England) you should drop by.
Cheers,
Chris

dc342 ~ Imperial 1841 - sgttodd (Jan 31, 2011, 6:21 pm) |
Another week and not so much as a sniff at getting a new
Frenchman.
So - on we go with France in Civil Disorder. All French units will
be ordered to hold and so will not be "unordered" and required to
disband if dislodged. If a dislodged French unit has a single
retreat option, it will retreat there, otherwise it will disband.
The deadline for Fall 1846 is now Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1st
(at) 2359 UTC.
I will use orders already submitted if new ones are not received.

Diplomats,
Germany gets an NMR, causing the combined Russian/English attack on Denmark to succeed. In the Balkans Austria takes a beating, as the combined forces of Turkey, Russia and Italy beat them back from Serbia. Will this threesome hold long
enough to save Italy from being left without any home provinces though? Austria is invading from all sides, and France looks poised to take a bite as well. Retreats are due tomorrow.
German F Denmark can retreat to Helgoland Bight, Baltic Sea or OTB
Austrian A Serbia can retreat to Trieste, Albania or OTB.

DC 359 Spring 04 Adjucation - untitled36 (Jan 31, 2011, 9:23 am) |
On a side note, apparently central illinois is going to experience an abundance of winter precipitation in the next few days, with lots of snow and, more importantly, ice. Given that we lose power on sunny days for inexplicable reasons, I'm fairly certain I'm in for at least sporadic times of power loss. So make extra sure you have your moves cc'ed to orders in case power outages interfere with aducation.

*Germans lose belgium, but gain north sea!*
*Austrian colonists abandon homeland, seek refuge in Apulia*
*Having met the turks, the English head towards home*
Hey all,
Looks like Brian may have thrown in the towel on this one, as Russia NMR's again. On a technical point, NMR's in the blitz only count on major turns (spring/fall), and you can only amass four NMR's in one blitz game, so if you happen to notice discrepencies between the number of "NMR's" that actually happened and the number recorded on the site, that should account for the differences. In a normal game, of course, we would seek a replacement, but the Blitz has a no replacement rule. So we press on with what we have.
In other news, lots of bounces as tension heats up across the globe. In fact, every power had roughly half their moves bounce, except Turkey who managed to succeed in every move this season (though granted, almost all of those moves were within his territory). And we are left with two retreats. England can retreat f Nth to Lon, Yor, Edi, or Hel (or OTB). Russia can retreat to Bud or Ukr (or OTB). Of course, if Russia has really abandoned us, the unit will retreat off the board.
I think that's all the news for today. Retreats are due tomorrow at 8:00 AM CST (2:00 PM GMT).

DC327 - F16 adjudication - bielf11 (Jan 29, 2011, 2:50 pm) |
Once more none of the EGPs received an Aye from all powers. So the war continues...
Fall 16: Aetolia stands it ground and seems to send a fleet south to support the Elian fleet.
But the Elian fleet is already overpowered. Will they be able to regroup elsewhere? And will Aetolia be there for support. or for the kill?
Retreat required for Elian fleet in Italus Sinus; it can retreat to Rhegium or Sicily or Elea or Cumae. Or OTB.
Deadline for retreats is Monday Jan 31 at 7pm GMT. Will try ot run it as soon as received.
