First off, you guys rule!
I love running games when there
is nothing to track down, nobody to hound for orders, etc.  It makes it a pleasure
and not a task… so thanks for that.  And before you chalk it up to thanks
from some random deity which you probly get every day, do remember this is
coming directly from Him.  Yeah.

So what happened?  We have
a pretty broad spectrum here… some folks grow their empire by leaps and bounds,
others by leaping bounds, some by bounded leaps, and a few are sullenly bound
to leap silently into the night as their hopes of someday dominating the modern
world are dashed by those others who were busy leaping and bounding.

ADJUSTMENTS!

RETREATS!
Well, let’s face it.
Ancient Egypt and the Hordes of Gaul don’t do so well, as they dominate the
retreat phase…

Egypt:  A Cyr and F Creta
Gaul:  A Burdigala

BUILDS!
Carthage: Build 1
Gaul: Remove 1 (or, remove the
retreat)
Germania: Build 2 (our biggest
leaper and bounder)
Macedonia: Build 1
Persia: Build 1
Rome: Build 1
Egypt:  If both units
retreat, even… but +1 or +2 if you take some retreats OTB.

That’s it!

Remember I do RETREATS and
BUILDS together, so don’t miss your builds expecting some interim mail from
me.  Builds may be made conditional upon the retreats.

It's not that easy being green
Having to spend each day
forgotten on the map edge
When I think it could be nicer
being red, or blue or purple
Or somewhere much more sociable

It's not easy being green
It seems you don't figure into
anybody's plans
And people tend to ignore your
emails 'cause you're
Not anywhere near where they are
right now
Or where they want to be

But green's the color of a tough

And green can be inaccessible
like a tree top
And green can be as hard to spot

distant as the sea

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why,
but why wonder why
Wonder, I am green and it'll do
fine, it's beautiful
Even if no one will talk to me

and not a task… so thanks for that.  And before you chalk it up to thanks
from some random deity which you probly get every day, do remember this is
coming directly from Him.  Yeah.

So what happened?  We have
a pretty broad spectrum here… some folks grow their empire by leaps and bounds,
others by leaping bounds, some by bounded leaps, and a few are sullenly bound
to leap silently into the night as their hopes of someday dominating the modern
world are dashed by those others who were busy leaping and bounding.

ADJUSTMENTS!

RETREATS!
Well, let’s face it.
Ancient Egypt and the Hordes of Gaul don’t do so well, as they dominate the
retreat phase…

Egypt:  A Cyr and F Creta
Gaul:  A Burdigala

BUILDS!
Carthage: Build 1
Gaul: Remove 1 (or, remove the
retreat)
Germania: Build 2 (our biggest
leaper and bounder)
Macedonia: Build 1
Persia: Build 1
Rome: Build 1
Egypt:  If both units
retreat, even… but +1 or +2 if you take some retreats OTB.

That’s it!

Remember I do RETREATS and
BUILDS together, so don’t miss your builds expecting some interim mail from
me.  Builds may be made conditional upon the retreats.

PRESS:
It's not that easy being green
Having to spend each day
forgotten on the map edge
When I think it could be nicer
being red, or blue or purple
Or somewhere much more sociable
like that

It's not easy being green
It seems you don't figure into
anybody's plans
And people tend to ignore your
emails 'cause you're
Not anywhere near where they are
right now
Or where they want to be

But green's the color of a tough
turtle shell
And green can be inaccessible
like a tree top
And green can be as hard to spot
as a chameleon,
or willy as a grasshopper, or
distant as the sea

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why,
but why wonder why
Wonder, I am green and it'll do
fine, it's beautiful
Even if no one will talk to me

I concur with Andrew's assessment. By the orders:

Austria: A Bavaria - Kiel (*Fails*).

Austria: A Berlin Supports A Bavaria - Kiel.

Holland: F Holland - Kiel(wc).

Austria should have overpowered Holland in a 2 on 1. The map certainly looks like Ber borders Kie, and Austria used armies removing the possibility of a coast designation order error.

Can I build for them?  Are you sure there isn't some commerce element to the game such that Turkey or Spain would be willing to spend their money at British shipyards?  We do have the world's best...  Wink  Of course they would have to sail under the Union Jack...

Hi All,

First of all, many thanks and kudos to Mike for GMing.  Excellent job.

The game was fairly straight forward in my opinion.  In the west the RFG alliance got off to a great start hitting Andy.  A stab by Ray a few years in made me nervous, but it wasn't until Phil popped into Bur and more dangerously Sean stabbed and turned entirely my way as part of a clear AI alliance.  Things also looked very grim as (if I recall correctly) Andy and Ray were also working together.  From this F vs. EGIA perspective I am quite happy to have ended in the draw, it was really the dark before the dawn

However, shortly after that Andy, Ray and I were talking a survival alliance against the southern powers as the AI looked a bit too strong. But I didn't like my chances against an advancing Italy without another area to expand, so I think I made what was
for me the decision of the game to turn on both Ray and Andy in an effort to eliminate Andy and claim his corner spot in hopes of sharing in the AIF draw as the smaller corner guy.  Things worked out quite well here and Andy was out in a few turns.

At some point in there Phil turned on Sean for the solo, but as we all know came up just shy of the prize.  This cemented the FRI resistance for the stalemate.

Now here is where I think it should have turned into a FRI three-way as we could have easily eliminated Phil with the naval advantage we had in the south.  But Sean backed off by deleting the army in Turkey and that pretty much was it.

John and I shared a common objective for most of the game and I much appreciated our alliance.  Let us forget the ugly incident in the last few moments of the game when I tried to oust him and clumsily included him in my betrayal e-mail  Smile  In my mind it could have
turned into a FIA alliance but Phil was understandably unwilling to back off his advantage and was also in for the 4-way.

With no prospects for a 3-way and a certain Austrian solo if I attacked John or Sean the 4-way set in.

Great game all, I had lots of fun.  And I'd probably be up for one more if the board is getting back together.

Dan
