DC 333, Fall 1902 - alwayshunted   (Aug 06, 2010, 8:30 pm)
I dawdled for a while, but no word from our English player this turn unfortunately, so I have ordered all of his units to hold. If I don't do this, realpolitik disbands the units, and those are not the rules I play by... fortunate for England. Adam, please get in touch with me to let me know that you are still playing... and to submit your retreats. If you do not submit retreats your units WILL be disbanded.

We also say so long to our Austrian, although he officially has a retreat I do not expect or require it to be submitted. Thanks Rene for playing, and for submitting orders to the end.

Retreats are due in three days, on Monday, August 9, 17:00 MDT. Both of the retreats that I need are from England.

Here is the turn:

---------------------

Austria:
A Budapest - Trieste (*Disbanded*)
F Ionian Sea - Tyrrhenian Sea
A Serbia Supports A Budapest - Trieste (*Dislodged*)

England:
F Belgium Hold
A Edinburgh Hold
F North Sea Hold (*Dislodged*)
F Norway Hold (*Dislodged*)
A Yorkshire Hold

France:
A Burgundy - Munich (*Bounce*)
A Gascony - Paris
A Marseilles Hold
A Picardy Supports F Belgium
F Spain(sc) - Gulf of Lyon

Germany:
A Denmark Hold
F Holland Supports F Skagerrak - North Sea
A Ruhr - Belgium (*Fails*)
F Skagerrak - North Sea
A Tyrolia - Munich (*Bounce*)

Italy:
F Naples - Ionian Sea
A Trieste Hold
F Tunis Supports F Naples - Ionian Sea
A Venice Supports A Trieste
A Vienna Supports A Rumania - Budapest

Russia:
A Galicia Supports A Rumania - Budapest
A Rumania - Budapest
F Sevastopol - Rumania
F St Petersburg(nc) - Norway
F Sweden Supports F St Petersburg(nc) - Norway
A Warsaw Hold

Turkey:
F Aegean Sea - Greece
A Bulgaria Supports A Greece - Serbia
F Constantinople - Aegean Sea
A Greece - Serbia

RETREATS:

English F North Sea can retreat to Norwegian Sea or Helgoland
Bight or English Channel or London.
English F Norway can retreat to Skagerrak or Norwegian Sea or
           Barents Sea.
Austrian A Serbia can retreat to Albania.
---------------------

That about covers it. Check my work! Last turn should be a lesson in that..... maps are attached.

Cheers,

Warren

Aside from manually checking the result of every game, is there some way to see the list of the longest running games?

Jason,

All three contenders in DC311 are playing for the WB crown. They all need a solo to win. In my opinion, the odds of that happening are much higher now than they've been in years. It just may not be close enough for you to see it. Or you may not care that it is. Regardless, I suggest that you restrain yourself from calling other players "fools" in the future. You're setting a lousy example as a Moderator.

All-

I would like to make a proposal. As you
all see, Russia NMRed on this first turn. However, if it is at all possible, I
believe that we should restart the game. My reasoning is
this:

Initially, we were told that the deadline was on August 8th.
Today is August 5th. This morning, I received an email from the Stuart (the
GM) saying I had less than 12 hours to submit my moves. Russia also received
this message. It is entirely possible that Russia hasn't had a chance to log
in to his email today and simply did not receive the warning. It is possible
he thought that the deadline was still 3 days away. Having received messages
from him in the past, I know he is active and playing. It would be wrong to
screw him over so badly simply because of a mistake on the deadline on the
part of the GM. Therefore, I propose we start over and redo the first turn. If
necessary we can reallocate the countries, but that might just be too much of
a hassle.

Stuart, is this possible?

Sincerely,

Rob

(DC 324) A Stab in the Dark - Spring 1914 Results - Corrino   (Aug 05, 2010, 9:46 pm)
Deja vu!  Don't stop me if you've heard this before.  An army from Berlin attacks and destroys an opposing army in Munich.

Guess what?  They're wearing fezzes again in the beer gardens.

But wait.  Do secular Arabs drink beer?  Are Turks Arabs?  Seems we've found a hole in my education.  Hmmm, have to look that up later.  Meanwhile, back at the Double Stab Ranch....

So it's England's turn to have an army go "Poof!" and disappear.  Can he get it back or complete the popular Munich-Berlin swap?  He'd better figure something out or it's all over.  If only we could see into Berlin and Prussia!  But no, they're blacked out this
turn, adding an extra element of uncertainty.  Nothing we interested spectators can do but wait and see.

RETREATS:  None required.

NEXT DEADLINE:  Officially, it's Tuesday, August 10, at 8 pm Eastern US time.  I have a feeling, though, that our players aren't going to want to wait that long.  I'll be able to adjudicate just as soon as I have two sets of orders marked Final.

Cheers,
Chris

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm travelling in China and the hotel I'll be at for the next couple days does not have the internet access I was expecting. I'll be back Sunday morning and can process the retreat phase then. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

Thanks for this, but as I already said in the previous mail, the
GM had my prelims, so he had no reason not to execute my orders.

I always send in prelims just in case so my units do something.

All-

I would like to make a proposal. As you all see, Russia NMRed on this first
turn. However, if it is at all possible, I believe that we should restart the
game. My reasoning is this:

Initially, we were told that the deadline was on August 8th. Today is August
5th. This morning, I received an email from the Stuart (the GM) saying I had
less than 12 hours to submit my moves. Russia also received this message. It is
entirely possible that Russia hasn't had a chance to log in to his email today
and simply did not receive the warning. It is possible he thought that the deadline
was still 3 days away. Having received messages from him in the past, I know he
is active and playing. It would be wrong to screw him over so badly simply
because of a mistake on the deadline on the part of the GM. Therefore, I
propose we start over and redo the first turn. If necessary we can reallocate
the countries, but that might just be too much of a hassle.

Stuart, is this possible?

Sincerely,

Rob Draniczarek
