dc320 w06 builds! - FuzzyLogic   (Jul 28, 2010, 1:19 pm)
Generally speaking you propose a draw with your move submissions, then the draw is announced w the results and voted on the next turn.  i.e. there is no mid-turn proposals for that turn's voting.  However since the deadline hasn't passed and it's still a couple hours till winter officially even tho i put out the results early, I'll allow the proposal.

So note - if you see a draw fails, it is then too late to repropose again for the following turn.  You have to plan in advance to get a proposal in this turn if you want to have voting next turn.  So for now tho, we'll consider the AG 2-way proposed for this spring.  Vote yay/nay w spring orders!

DC 306: Sengoku Rev6DP - Fall 1575: Chosokabe Nobu... - Kenshi777   (Jul 28, 2010, 12:35 pm)
Hello all -
I'm afraid I need to call for another replacement. I have heard from
our Hojo player, Michael, and RL concerns are proving overwheling at
this point (happens to us all sometimes). I thank Michael for
playing, and for taking the time to provide me with the courtesy of an
explanation.
I will post the vacancy for the Hojo position (it's strong, should
fill quickly) on the DC website, and hold the game at the retreat
phase for now. (meaning, the replacement will have the choice to
retreat F Atsumi Bay to Owari or OTB, which has been confirmed as a
legal option according to the rules)
Sorry about the delay, I thank you all for your patience. I trust you
all will join me in wishing Michael well, and thanking him for playing
with us.
B.

first campaigning season, invading the north rather than the south.

***TEAHOUSE COMMENTARY: Hojo is caught unaware and NMRs this season,
which results in the capture of Totomi by Oda. Asakura is forced out
of Wakasa Bay by the advancing Mori forces, though they perform an
transfer of authority in Asakura's favor in Inaba. Mori lets the unit
in Izumo rest for a turn, but sends the remaining armies back to cover
home plate. Chosokabe continues in his predecessors footsteps, and
successfully invades Atsumi Bay. And yes, Satomi Yoshihiro of Hitachi
plods merrily along in old age, as Uesugi fleets hover offshore.

(DC 326) Gumball - Fall 1906 Results - Corrino   (Jul 27, 2010, 8:02 pm)
Hi Players,

Thanks to everyone for helping me out by getting in your orders a day early.  Much appreciated!

Our lead story this year has to be the decline of the once mighty English Empire.  They're not giving up, by any means, but are still suffering the ill effects of that unfortunate NMR in 1905.  Nevertheless, as bad as things are right now for the Brits, they can be grateful that things aren't even worse, thanks to a truly embarrassing blunder by their German arch-enemies.  What do you think the Kaiser will do when he learns that while his army was waiting on the Belgian beach, his North Sea fleet was looking for them in Yorkshire?  Yes, THAT Yorkshire!  I'd say there is a German admiral about to be marooned behind a desk forever (if he's
lucky).

In other highlights:

.  You may have heard that rubber comes from South America.  Not so, Sunshine!  It's a Russian commodity now.  Just check out the action in Sevastopol and Warsaw, where a total of 5 armies from 4 nations played bounce-back.  You won't hear the Tsar complaining, though, not with his country on the ... wait for it... rebound.  Put the Cossacks down for a build AND, amazingly, a open SC in which to put it.

. Offense fills the seats, but defense wins championships!  If that's true, I think I'm going to put 5 bucks on the stubborn Turks.  Another year with too many enemies and too few friends, but the Sultan still manages to hold on to what he has.

. Could Turkey's modest success this year be the result of his finding a way to jam the psychic connection between A and I?  I don't know, but our Red-Green team definitely misfired this time.  It's ONE if by
land, TWO if by sea, guys....  Regardless, A-I seem determined to stretch their partnership from sea (Black) to shining sea (Atlantic).  If only that pesky German would stop trying to get into Tyrolia.

. Meanwhile, in France, nothing much happens, really.  MAO gets knocked back, but will England be able to follow up on that positional advantage, given he's going to lose two units?  Relations with his other neighbors are similarly inconclusive.  Italy doesn't attack -- but he doesn't go away, either.  And Germany tries to help out -- but can't get out of his own way.  Ah, well.  Hemlines in Paris are heading up over the ankle and it was a perfect year for the Beaujolais.  C'est bon, n'est pas?

RETREATS:  One.  French fleet MAO needs to find a new place to be.  Options include Gascony, Portugal, and the bottom of the ocean.  Please let me know your decision as soon as possible,
Mr. Le President, or your fleet will automatically be disbanded.

ADJUSTMENTS

Austria:   Supp  7 Unit  7 Build  0
England:   Supp  3 Unit  5 Remove 2
France:    Supp  5 Unit  5 Build  0 ... or build 1 if F MAO is retreated OTB by either design or negligence.
Germany:   Supp  8 Unit  7 Build  1
Italy:     Supp  5 Unit  5 Build  0
Russia:    Supp  2 Unit  3 Build  1
Turkey:    Supp  3 Unit  3 Build  0

WINTER orders will be due by 12 noon Eastern US time (1600 GMT) on Thursday, July 30.  If you wish, you may make your adjustments conditional upon the location of the French retreat.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Stabbers,

Congratulations are in order to... anyone that didn't pick 1912 as the year this game would end.  It's not over yet, folks!

Our very own Clash of the Titans sees conflict in a nearly solid line from north to south this year.  Movement into Marseilles by England, but he already owned it so that's not a change.  It still stands at 17 dots apiece and I don't see either side ready to concede victory OR a draw.

Line 'em up and do it again!

RETREATS:    None

NEXT DEADLINE:  Officially, it's Friday at 8 pm Eastern US time.  However, I'm going to a baseball game with my old man that night, and there's a day trip on Saturday, so you might want to try getting those orders in early.  I'm in vacation mode
starting noon tomorrow.  If I had to guess I'd say the best looking time for me to adjudicate over the next few days would be Friday morning.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Ben,

The official game rules state that "if a player fails to order a retreat when necessary, the unit is disbanded."

ah, indeed - but that has not happened yet. He only failed to order
in the Fall season, not the Autumn retreats...yet.

DC 306: Sengoku Rev6DP - Fall 1575: Chosokabe Nobu... - Kenshi777   (Jul 27, 2010, 2:52 pm)
Now we have a challenge to the ruling (legitimate) and a clarification I owe -

First - clarification - the retreat is *from* Atsumi Bay, either to Owari or OTB.  My apologies - got a lot going on here today at training still.../

Second - the challenge to the ruling is that the NMR results in an automatic disband of both units.  My understanding is that this is a quirk of Realpolitik, not the actual game rules.  I will allow 24 hours for evidence (i.e. a citation in the rulebook) to be presented - if my ruling is incorrect, it will be reversed.  Otherwise, gameplay continues, and the two retreats are due tomorrow evening.

Very pleased to see this level of attention to detail, speaks highly of the caliber of our players, a most welcome sight.  More to folllow when we have a ruling on the retreat - until then, proceed as posted before!

1. The Logo is always up for reconsideration if there are any graphic artists out there who can help out, come find us!

2. No prob, this should be fixed. Moved it up one line. Was just the wrapped (last few words) part going too low on the page? On my screen it was fitting fine unless I sized the screen down too narrow.

DC 306: Sengoku Rev6DP - Fall 1575: Chosokabe Nobuchika (dc306) Kenshi777 Jul 27, 02:52 pm

DC 306: Sengoku Rev6DP - Fall 1575: Chosokabe Nobuchika (dc306) Kenshi777 Jul 28, 12:35 pm
Hello all -
I'm afraid I need to call for another replacement.
I trust you
all will join me in wishing Michael well, and thanking him for playing
with us.

Here we go!

Everyone back from vacation and ready to go at once...
First deadline next Tuesday - August 3, 3pm Central / 20:00 GMT!

Pls send in prelims as soon as possible, just so I know we have a full set.  I don't allow NMR's in the first year.  After that, results will come out when I say they will, so expect if you don't have moves in for your units to doodle about!

Enjoy,
-mike
