DC319: France absent - jlqueiros (Jul 26, 2010, 3:56 am) |
Hi guys,
I see the retreats have not yet been adjudicated, which might imply our GM is still trying to solve his mailbox problem. I'll be absent until July 28th in a town where the most modern tecnology seems to be having donkeys carrying our luggage, which means I won't have net access. I'm not able to send prelims before knowing all the retreats. I hope therefore that the Spring deadline can be postponed for a few days.
Best,
João (France)

DC 306: Sengoku Rev6DP - Official Fall 1575 Deadli... - Kenshi777 (Jul 25, 2010, 7:07 am) |
I failed to note that the 25th (today) was a Sunday when I set the new deadline after Matt joined the game, and I know that at least one of our players does not have regular access to email over the weekends. If I do not receive prelims in time for tonight's deadline from all players, Fall 1575 will be pushed until tomorrow night, Monday, July 26th, 1700 EST, which will be a final deadline.
Mea culpa -

Not sure if I ever published this, but Matt agreed to the 10 day first season, so the Fall 1575 deadline will be 1700 EST, July 25th. In the Center, a might crash erupts in Munich... but no change in ownership occurs there or as a result of an echoing conflict in Marseilles.
In the South and in the North, no sounds of fighting are heard. What of those silent forces? Holding still, or sliding through the shadows?

Constantinople Has Many Fleets That Try to Dock In the StraitsFrench Ejected from the Italian PeninsulaAn English/German/Russian/Austrian Stalemate Has Seemingly Formed While Italy and France Trade Southern Blows
All,There is really limited action this Spring. We have no retreats needed (the French A in Tuscany had no retreat options available so it was disbanded) so we can move to the Fall. For Fall however, we have a player who is away on vacation for the next few weeks with limited access at best. As such, they have requested a longer deadline and I will allow it. Therefore we won't have Fall05 until:
Tuesday August 10th at 6pm CST
That should give that person time to return and have some "fruitful" Diplomacy (rolling eyes since all moves seem boring at this point).
Please check my work and yell if you have any issues. Otherwise enjoy the remainder of July!

Fall 1902 Adjudication - jason4747 (Jul 22, 2010, 6:35 pm) |
Chris,
Some useless information:
Per your question "does anyone know what is the correct English spelling of Czar/Tsar/Tzar/Csar/Szar?" I have an answer for you. Though, as we all know, Al Gore actually invented the internet for porn, one can find nearly-useful stuff out there. For example:
from the free dictionaries out there:
"Usage Note: The word czar can also be spelled tsar. Czar is the most common form in American usage and the one nearly always employed in the extended senses "any tyrant" or informally, "one in authority." But tsar is preferred by most scholars of Slavic studies as a more accurate transliteration of the Russian and is often found in scholarly writing with reference to one of the Russian emperors."
Given not everyone playing is American, and the use is directed toward the historical ruler (real or imagined) of Russia not say an American with real or imagined power such as a drug Czar (Lindsey Lohan for example), I say you go with the original Tsar. Unfortunately this does not really answer your literal question of "correct "English" spelling" ---as the English did not invent the internet and I am not sure how it is done across the pond. Go with the Russkies - Tsar.
Jason

Hey everyone,
Welcome to the game – Sea Monsters, Cyclops and Sirens, Oh My!
(again)
As most of you know, we’ve been holding for a while to get this one going… variants can be hit and miss like that. But now we have 7 players, and I’ve heard from all 7 at some point confirming interest. For some of you tho, that was a month ago.
So let’s get set for a little déjà vu, and confirm again! (just to be sure all are good, nobody has moved on, etc). With a title like this, the game is destined to be a classic, and it never hurts to revisit a classic twice so let’s have those reconfirms! Reply to the group, just to let all know we’re here and ready to go. This should only take a day or two, then we can assign powers (random) and get it rolling!
Remember you can find anything you need about the game on the game page:

If you ever don’t get results from me and you think you may have missed them, be sure to check there. Check thru my house rules. They’re linked there on the game page. They cover some key things like delays, extensions, NMR’s, and so on. All good stuff to know about in advance.
Me… I live in the Chicago suburbs, and take a pretty active role in the operations of dc. Aside from that I’m an IT guy for work, and have been building a mega playhouse / tree fort in our back yard for the last year and a half, and some major LEGO structures in our basement. All with our 3 little kids, 1, 3, and 7.
I guess that’s about it for now! Let’s see if we can get it going by the end of the week.
Enjoy,
-mike
