Hey everyone,
Welcome to the game ??? Sea Monsters, Cyclops and Sirens, Oh My!
(again)
As most of you know, we???ve been holding for a while to get this one going??? variants can be hit and miss like that. But now we have 7 players, and I???ve heard from all 7 at some point confirming interest. For some of you tho, that was a month ago.
So let???s get set for a little d??j?? vu, and confirm again! (just to be sure all are good, nobody has moved on, etc). With a title like this, the game is destined to be a classic, and it never hurts to revisit a classic twice so let???s have those reconfirms! Reply to the group, just to let all know we???re here and ready to go. This should only take a day or two, then we can assign powers (random) and get it rolling!
Remember you can find anything you need about the game on the game page:
www.diplomaticcorp.com?game=dc334
If you ever don???t get results from me and you think you may have missed them, be sure to check there. Check thru my house rules. They???re linked there on the game page. They cover some key things like delays, extensions, NMR???s, and so on. All good stuff to know about in advance.
Me??? I live in the Chicago suburbs, and take a pretty active role in the operations of dc. Aside from that I???m an IT guy for work, and have been building a mega playhouse / tree fort in our back yard for the last year and a half, and some major LEGO structures in our basement. All with our 3 little kids, 1, 3, and 7.
I guess that???s about it for now! Let???s see if we can get it going by the end of the week.
Enjoy,
-mike

(DC 324) A Stab in the Dark - Fall 1910 Results - Corrino (Jul 13, 2010, 6:13 pm) |
Ho Stabbers!
Quite a few punches thrown this season, though perhaps not as many as one might expect with our two witches presumably holding nothing back as they try to reach the magic 18. I don't know about you, but one little love tap in St. Pete is not exactly the heavyweight bout I paid to see. Maybe they think they can get there just by kicking the little guys when they're down. Not very sporting, I must say.
Italy is kicked out of Naples, but clearly still survives. France is kicked out of Brest, and his fate is more uncertain. Tune in tomorrow for retreats and Autumn updates, in which we'll learn who is still standing and who is down for the count.
RETREATS NEEDED: French fleet Brest. Italian fleet Naples. You've got 24
hours or the default is OTB.
Cheers,
Chris

DC 320: extension request - Blueraider0 (Jul 13, 2010, 10:23 am) |
Ok, this is silly. There have been several times when extensions should have been called but were not, I suppose out of respect for the game. But NMRs are even worse - though I will say I've benefitted quite a bit from each one.
I'm going to request an extension. As some of you know, I've been home sick from camp with what is probably Lyme disease, and now I'm feeling better enough to go back to camp, and am now swamped with paperwork that didn't get done in my absence, and the supply closet also fell into some disrepair. So I think I'm going to need some more time. I will also say publicaly I need to talk to both Alfred and Fletch, and Fletch is gone and Alfred probably also has his own backlog to deal with after his trip.
So, dear GM, I know you have not had to deal with such selfishness in this game, but I humbly ask for an extension until after the weekend.
Thanks!

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."[Reply] |

Spring 1902 Adjudication - cfisher6 (Jul 12, 2010, 10:05 pm) |
The year 1902 opens with a few skirmishes across Europe as the various powers struggle for position. In the West France's new fleets take to the seas for their maiden voyages, while her armies probe across the German border. England's forces hold steady and fend off a Russian offensive aimed at Norway. Germany focuses on redeployment and departs the western province of the Ruhr for Munich, only to see French soldiers immediately enter the region and assert control over the populace. The Italian armies threatening Austrian Trieste have switched tack and moved towards the French port city of Marseilles, while naval forces occupy African Tunis. Austrian and Russian troops have fought over the country of Rumania for over a year now and Austrian persistence has finally paid off as they occupy the Black Sea region. New skirmishes ignite in the Russian province of Ukraine, and the governments of neither country look likely to back down. Greece--the site of a battle last year between Italian and Turk forces--falls to the Turkish army, while the Turkish forces standing by in Constantinople make a surprise convoy to Armenia.
No retreats so the Fall 1902 deadline is next Monday the 19th at 23:59 GMT. Thanks to everyone for getting their orders in!

Hi Everyone,
Correction: I am accustomed to the usual rhythm of my adjudication schedule: the Spring 1938 adjudication is THURSDAY. My apologies for the heart attacks!

Gents,
The deadline for your Final Orders is in just under 24 hours. I have six sets of orders in-hand.
One thing that is conspicuous by its absence is player press. We have a dandy group of writers here as we've seen in past turns...would love to see a couple bits of press sneak in with final orders as well!
Good luck all in your final day of negotiating!

FLWC s08: The Elves - FuzzyLogic (Jul 12, 2010, 3:09 pm) |
Today we look back upon the Elves, who have embarked on their little trip around the world - skating from center to center, barely holding on among a sea of monsters all trying to destroy them. What ever did the Elves do? Well here we have one more order. Let's call it a turn all to the Elves self in honor of those elusive little guys.
Our retreat: Elven A Zhentil Keep, to Pwyll or Dragon Coast.
Go for it. This is your turn. The limelight. All eyes are on you, so enjoy it! 101 units sitting idly by... and they can't do squat... cuz it is time to pay homage to: the Elves.
Whenever I get that retreat, I'll send it out. But it's due Wed 3pm Central.

dc311 s16 - Austrian summer - FuzzyLogic (Jul 12, 2010, 3:03 pm) |
All eyes on Austria this year, as they get to retreat three dislodged units... each of which really only has one choice. So perhaps everyone won't be watching Austria after all, in favor of Germany, who actually gets to pick something, and that is whether to retreat their own unit to Boh or Gal! Personally, I'll be watching Turkey. Go Hamish!
Oh, the draw vote failed.
NEXT: 4 retreats by Tuesday 3pm Central!
