dc316 fall 1901 results! - coryfucius   (Apr 01, 2010, 4:38 pm)
Plenty of movement this turn. England's convoy to Belgium goes unopposed. Italy convoys to Tunis, but runs into Austrian defense of Trieste. Austria gains Greece, despite Turkey's attempt to move there himself. Russia gains Rumania, but is bounced from Sweden by the German fleet. Sweden is left as the only neutral center still unclaimed.

Everyone has winter 1901 builds due tomorrow, Friday 4/2 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT, as follows:
Austria: build 2
England: build 2
France: build 2 Germany: build 2 Italy: build 1 Russia: build 1
Turkey: build 1

I will be out of town tomorrow, so one of our esteemed tournament directors will adjudicate the winter phase. PLEASE be sure to cc: the Orders box, or your builds won't be recognized. I will be back for the spring 1902 season. Thanks, everyone - and special thanks in advance to Garry or Mike Sims for filling in for me tomorrow.

Holla everyone,

A little late on my part, I told you I'd have this in last night, sorry about that. DC 298 Spring 1912 adjucation - untitled36   (Apr 01, 2010, 8:48 am)
Hey all,
France fends off the invading hordes (at least for the moment), breaking even on centers, and thus getting two builds because of the two units this year that were destroyed. Russia also moves against England, signalling a possible glimmer of hope for the besieged Frenchman? Yet England also gets a build this year as he likewise broke even on centers, and the destruction of Army Berlin frees up supplies at home.

Also, I did auto-retreat Hol-Rhu. OTB is always an option, and builds can be conditional based on what Clark officially decides to do. And you know the drill, builds due tomorrow at 15:00 GMT.

DC301 - TTP - Winter 1901 MAP - douglasefresh at googl...   (Apr 01, 2010, 7:15 am)
The Winter 1901 Map is attached.

I had one instance of No Build Received from the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Scandinavia, consequentially I have removed the required unit according to the DC House Rules:

1 Units furthest from the nearest home center before units closer to the nearest home center
2 Units not in a supply center before units in a supply center if equidistant from home
3 Fleets before armies if still no unique unit selected per above
4 Alphabetical

F Hel was the only unit to conform to this rule. I hope you all deem that acceptable. David - if you could let me know you are still in control of the UKGB&S, I'd be most grateful

Deadline for Spring 1902 is next Tuesday 8th April at 12noon GMT

DC305 - 1902 Spring - ignite107   (Mar 31, 2010, 6:59 pm)
With the votes tallied it appears most desire to have Austria simply go into civil disorder.  Upon looking at the map and outcome, it does give Italy a small advantage - but none that would not have been realized already with a heavily crippled Austria.  Now the question remains, who will take Budapest?  Will it be Italy?  Russia?  Turkey?  All seemed to have converged there.

While Italy, Turkey, and Russia have all converged it looks like in the North West there seems to be a huge battle brewing.  Denmark is surrendered (at least for now) to the English.  I'm very curios to see what will happen in the fall.

But before then, we have a retreat to make.  Germany's fleet can go to Ska, Hel, or Bal.  Decision for the Summer is due Friday April 2nd, 17:00 CT.  Unless of course it's marked final.

Summer 03 reminder! - bobbarkerfan1   (Mar 31, 2010, 12:27 pm)
Votes and retreats due. The vote is for a Turkey solo victory. I need a yes vote from all remaining players for it to pass, a lack of a vote = a no vote.

Thanks!

Joey

Subject: DC290 Spring 1903

And a chaotic spring it was.

You are all definitely awake after that long winter sleep that some of you had. That is a good thing, this is the most unique game I've ever been a part of, and I hope you are all enjoying it and not getting too upset with whatever may be happening. Lots of movement occured this turn, so lets just jump right to the good stuff, shall we? I know none of you really want to hear my commentary, so just skip right over this if you want. The Italians, under new leadership, take a step backward and hold up on the Italian penninsula under fire from the Austrians and Turks. The Austrians devote full force to their western border, while the Turks quietly pick off their SCs from behind with no opposition. The Russians retreat and try to take back Red Square. While the Russians try to take back a home center, the Germans successfully take back Munich from the French, and grab the French capital in the process. While the Germans steal two French SCs, the Brits swap places with them in Brest. How will all of this unfold? Find out this fall. Here are the details:

1648 091010: Winter 1655 Retreats/Adjustments - charlesf   (Mar 31, 2010, 9:50 am)
Hi guys,

since I received a full set of orders and no request for me to delay the adjucation until after the deadline, the winter chill's arriving somewhat early this year. And as the Baltic freezes over, the wharves in the Duchy of Courland are being kept busy by Poland's first-ever building of a Baltic squadron! This is a first for this variant. Roger, the Pole in the previous playtest, was however the first to build a Polish squadron, albeit one designated for Black Sea duty rather than for patrolling Baltic waters.

That being said, it's a long way for Poland to project such naval power from Courland, the erstwhile "Holland of the East", as the enterprising Kettler dukes of Courland were able to. After all, they founded Courlandian colonies as far off as Africa and the West Indies...

1655 AD has been by all accounts a year of continued East-West struggle, with Russia and Northern Germany being arguably the focal points of military action. Shall these trends continue into 1656? Stay tuned.

Given players' Easter schedules, I've shifted the spring deadline to Wednesday, 7 April.

Cheers,

Charles

It should be noted, Rome got only one build because Roma was occupied (and controlled) by Carthage.  So Rome has one less unit than it can supply.  SC graph is below.  Remember, to win you need 18 depots, just like in the standard version (its an interesting coincidence).

Rome:
Build A Ravenna

Carthage:
Remove F Roma
Greece:
Remove F Black Sea
Remove A Illyria
Egypt:
Build F Thebes
Build F Alexandria Rome:      Supp  7 Unit  6 Build  0
Carthage:  Supp  4 Unit  4 Build  0
Persia:    Supp  9 Unit  9 Build  0
Greece:    Supp  2 Unit  2 Build  0
Egypt:     Supp 12 Unit 12 Build  0

Spring 296 deadline is Tuesday, 4/6 at 5 PM EST.

Take care!

DC301 - TTP - AUTUMN 1901 MAP - douglasefresh at googl...   (Mar 31, 2010, 6:02 am)
Professeur Griffe raised his field glasses once more and steadied himself against the strong wind, which gusted around the bell tower of the Schaffhausen Church.

It was a whistle-stop tour to key points on the Swiss perimeter, checking countless border guard posts and observing each of the five provinces in turn, which contained a rebel army.

In the gentle valley, beyond the guard towers and the fences,  the Commander of the League of Shadows could make out tiny figures running around, in the fields outside a hamlet. Some appeared to be wearing Frankish Visigothic uniforms, although in a varied state of dress.

The Professeur
ha-rumphed and passed the binoculars to an adjutant.

"What is it they're doing?"

The skinny aide coughed as he peered through the lenses.

"Sir, Umm, they appear to be kicking a ball about, Sir"

Puffing and panting another adjutant reached the top of the steps of the bell-tower and passed a coded memo to the Commander.

Apologies for the further delay.  I set the deadline for Monday night not realising I was at a football (soccer) match, and last night unexpected house guests meant I couldn't get the results out...

Anyway, Spring 1903 sees further action across the board, with Russia continuing to get squeezed, losing both Berlin and Sevastopol, whilst England is evicted from the continent by France.

The Russian army in Sevastopol can only retreat to Moscow, so I've made that retreat. If Russia wants to disband said army, let me know asap.
