DC290 Spring 1903/More Intercepted Italian Intelli... - neversawthatcoming   (Mar 30, 2010, 4:47 pm)
Geez...

I enter the game...I try to help all you feebs...and you feebs know who I am talking about...I present you with a grand plan...and you screw it up entirely. Let's review...England...you were very bad last turn...you were not supposed to attack France. Germany...very, very bad...I don't think you were paying any attention to my instructions...now look what you done to poor France. Thank god russia was paying attention...

Does anyone not believe me when I say that we should be putting our petty differences aside? Can none of you see that you are just engaging in self-defeating, self-deluding short-term gains? Am I the only one with active gray cells in my brain that are actually making neuro-chemical connections?

If you guys are not going to let me mastermind the remainder of this game, I am just going to go away and take my near infinite brilliance with me.

signed,
Mike Sims

In response to a question by one of our players: The adjustments will be listed on the Autumn Maps tomorrow, but as neither of the retreats due will affect the SC count - the unit count for adjustments is as follows:

Yugoslavia +2
UKGB&S -1
F&VR +1
GREATER HANNOVER +1(no vacant Home SC)
MPC +1
Russia -2
Turkey -1

Many thanks

Fresh spurred his horse on and fired another shot deliberately over the heads of the routing Russian infantry. Along the line his 'fellow' Yugoslavian dragoons were demonstrating rather less mercy on the retreating foot soldiers.

Fresh called for re-group as the ground beneath them grew steeper and the woodland around them grew thicker. The unit made a tidy arch back down the slope through the trees, as the remains of the Russian guard escaped into the darkness of the forest.

Within hours, riders from Rumania confirmed that the action had lead to victory in Sevastopol, as well as the subjugation of the Russian populace in Bucharest
.

The Tesarik war machine was gaining momentum.

Agent Fresh collated the reports from the rest of the agents in the field, noting the continent-wide outbreaks of armed conflict and attrition. Thousands had no doubt spent their lives merely to allow their fledgling nations to hold their ground. Others had paid the price with considerably less glory to take with them to their graves.

The winter deadline is in less than 24 hours.  I'm still missing some orders.  Individual nags forthcoming.  Get them in!

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."

DC301 - TTP - FALL 1901 Maps - douglasefresh at googl...   (Mar 30, 2010, 7:12 am)

Many thanks

DC 282, Game Over, Peace Negotiated - alfdog   (Mar 30, 2010, 3:25 am)
Dear all,
many thanks for such a good game and apologies especially to Sam who I stabbed despite having a good thing going. I hope I also demonstrated, probably to some people’s surprise, my willingness to not stab fra, even though I had at times some ample opportunity, especially in the forthcoming turn, but I gambled on a two way and am very pleased with that. I always try to identify one ally and game allowing stay with them for the whole game. I would like to offer my thanks to Warren for being such a great gm, I’d love him to publish his thoughts on the game. I also would like to thank Wladimir for being such a thoughtful and communicative ally, always ready to listen and challenge my duff ideas, without doubt the best ally I have had in diplomacy. I would also like to thank Michael for all of his correspondence.
I think ultimately what made the biggest difference, as well as fra and eng’s willingness to stick together was the unresolved eastern triangle, with tur not building a fleet at the end f 01 and ah and tur bashing each other in a stalemate it left fra and eng to resolve the west and then move on. I’d be interested to hear other people’s interpretation of the game.
Best wishes
Alfred Nicol

Hi,

That's all folks. The England/France draw passes with a unanimous vote. So a big congratulations to Alfred and Wladimir, and also to all that survived until the end. It was a good one, thanks to everyone that played.

I'll get the results entered and posted at DC as soon as I can.

End game map is attached, although I know you've all seen it before.

Cheers,

Warren

DC290 Spring 1903 - bobbarkerfan1   (Mar 29, 2010, 9:50 pm)
And a chaotic spring it was.

You are all definitely awake after that long winter sleep that some of you had. That is a good thing, this is the most unique game I've ever been a part of, and I hope you are all enjoying it and not getting too upset with whatever may be happening. Lots of movement occured this turn, so lets just jump right to the good stuff, shall we? I know none of you really want to hear my commentary, so just skip right over this if you want. The Italians, under new leadership, take a step backward and hold up on the Italian penninsula under fire from the Austrians and Turks. The Austrians devote full force to their western border, while the Turks quietly pick off their SCs from behind with no opposition. The Russians retreat and try to take back Red Square. While the Russians try to take back a home center, the Germans successfully take back Munich from the French, and grab the French capital in the process. While the Germans steal two French SCs, the Brits swap places with them in Brest. How will all of this unfold? Find out this fall. Here are the details:
