Hey everyone... I look forward to the game. One thing to note... Austria and I are both from Winnipeg, MB, and we know each other somewhat. It doesn't mean anything from a tactical standpoint, but it's fair to let you know.

Thanks, Michael. I for one appreciate the heads-up -- it's always best to keep that kind of stuff transparent. Even though as A/E you probably have little chance at collusion!

Right speaking of that, I'm playing in another game against Matt (France), just putting that out there. I do not crossgame or carry grudges between games, so it shouldn't be an issue but I'd rather present it here and now than having it used against me later (assumin I survive) Smile

DC300 - Autumn 1904 retreats - bielf11   (Mar 23, 2010, 7:55 am)
Autumn 1904:
France:    A Belgium - Picardy
Turkey:    F Constantinople - Smyrna

Brings us to Winter 1904.
Apparently 1904 has been the Year of Change. Some paid a terrible price for their expansion attempts.
We see France who lost 2 supply centers this year, and Turkey and Germany each lost one.
But where there's pain, there's also gain. And the lucky ones are Italy and Russia.
It's hard to swallow for some but Russia has secured 4 more supply centers this year!

Ownership:
England:   Edinburgh, Liverpool, London.
France:    Brest, Marseilles, Paris, Portugal, Spain.
Germany:   Belgium, Berlin, Denmark, Holland, Kiel, Munich.
Italy:     Naples, Rome, Trieste, Tunis, Venice.
Russia:    Ankara, Budapest, Constantinople, Greece, Moscow,
Norway, Rumania, Serbia, Sevastopol, St Petersburg,
           Sweden, Vienna, Warsaw.
Turkey:    Bulgaria, Smyrna.

Adjustments
---------------------------------------------
France:    Supp  5 Unit  7 Remove  2
Germany:   Supp  6 Unit  7 Remove  1
Italy:     Supp  5 Unit  4 Build  1
Russia:    Supp 13 Unit  9 Build  4
Turkey:    Supp  2 Unit  3 Remove  1

Deadline for Winter adjustments is Thursday Mar 25 at 17:00 GMT.
I'm still planning on scheduling Spring 1905 on Monday Mar 29. Let me know with Winter adjustments if that's a problem for anyone.

DC301 - TTP - SPRING 1901 MAPS - douglasefresh at googl...   (Mar 23, 2010, 7:37 am)
Fully expecting to have faced down the Russian Army, Agent Fresh had prepared himself with a tin of tobacco in one breast pocket and a small leather bound volume of Yugoslav poetry in the other. It was the closest thing to armour that Fresh had managed to find, but as it was, the preparations for being shot through the heart had proven unnecessary, and Fresh led his unit of cavalry across the sunny plains of Tarnopol without incident.

Fresh let the sun warm his face, but the furrow of his brow returned as he imagined what the Fall would undoubtedly bring.

Good luck all - May the most honourable and trustworthy ally/sneaky and duplicitous bastard WIN!

SUPER IMPORTANT NOTES;

Please please copy your orders to orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com (orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com) EVERY time. This allows the Moderators to step in and run games as needed if last minute issues prevent me from keeping a game on track (due to the fast deadlines). IF YOU DO NOT COPY YOUR ORDERS HERE and a Mod has to run a game, you run the risk of an NMR!
Please note that Fall retreats and Winter builds are combined into one turn! You may make builds conditional on retreats but they are done with ONE deadline.

Please put "DC317; (country)" in your subject line at a minimum.  This will facilitate me being able to find your orders.  If you are in the habit of hitting the reply, PLEASE take the time to change the subject line and delete the body of the previous message.  If I am unable to find your orders, you run the risk of an NMR and the previous season will NOT be redone!

You know the rules, same as from Round 1 (Spring Orders - Mondays, Retreat Orders [if necessary] - Tuesdays, Fall Orders - Thursdays, Retreat Orders [if necessary] AND Builds/Disband Orders - Fridays).  I will do automatic retreats if only one retreat is available to facilitate play.  No reminders of the Deadlines will be provided so be sure to get your orders in as soon as possible.  I highly advise submitting preliminary.

If you are in the habit of using abbreviations, please use the standard 3-letter abbreviations.  I will not NMR a unit if I can decipher what you wanted (ie F Liv-NAO will be read as F Liverpool to North Atlantic Ocean not F Livonia to NAO).  Also, I will not NMR a unit if you fail to put a unit on the orders (ie Liv-NAO).  However, (there are some rules that cannot be gotten around) if a fleet can move to a country with more than one coast line and you fail to list which coast, the unit will not move due to the confusion (ie F MAO - Spa will cause the movement to fail due to the lack of coastal distinction).  All standard stuff, just a quick posting here to let you know that I will be as lenient as possible.  If I have not covered something and you have any questions, please ask.

Also, I will not be posting any comments on the Game.  I do not know how much might have been missed if a GM had not commented on it in his monologue; therefore, I do not post comments.  I will try to not influence the game in anyway.  Though, I am human; I too make mistakes.  When mistakes happen, you need to let me know as soon as possible so that I can make corrections.  If you do not make me aware of the error and the game proceeds to the next season, the deed is done and no correction can be made.

If you have made it this far, thank you for patiently reading all that I have for you.  I will not be as long winded during the game.  Best of luck to all of you in Round 2 of Winter Blitz 2010!  Let the Diplomacy begin!

Final Orders for Spring 1901 are due Monday, March 29 by 24:00 hrs GMT.

DC317; Welcome - dipknight   (Mar 22, 2010, 8:46 pm)
All,

Welcome to Round 2 of Winter Blitz 2010!

As you are already aware; the Country Assignments for DC317 are as follows:

Country:       ID:                         Name:                   Email:
Austria         MDemagogue         Mark Utterback      MDemagogue-at-gmail.com (MDemagogue-at-gmail.com)
England        phantomas             jean-luc granier      phantomas13-at-orange.fr (phantomas13-at-orange.fr)
France          packrat                  scott troemel         brn2dip-at-yahoo.com (brn2dip-at-yahoo.com)
Germany       Douglas_E_Fresh   Douglas Fresh       douglasefresh-at-gmail.com (douglasefresh-at-gmail.com)
Italy              evapollo88              Greg Olson           olson.gregoryscott-at-gmail.com (olson.gregoryscott-at-gmail.com)
Russia          Nigs                       Nigel Phillips         nephilli99-at-hotmail.com (nephilli99-at-hotmail.com)
Turkey          Jeremiah                Jeremiah Lee         dadidea-at-gmail.com (dadidea-at-gmail.com)

SUPER IMPORTANT NOTES;

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to apologize for my lack of alacrity in getting the opening salutations to everyone. The start time has coincided with a rather busy patch, but, do not fear, it shall not be a general condition for this general. I shall have time soon to send my greetings and I look forward to working with all of you (in the spirit of optimistic generalization). Hope all is well with all,

In an effort to improve relations between our two countries I would be more than happy

manageable I would, of course, cede them back over to you.

No need for thanks, just doing my part to help a neighbor.

DC 282, Summer 1906 and Draw Proposed - alwayshunted   (Mar 22, 2010, 8:13 pm)
Russia retreats his army to Ukraine. Fall 1906 is due in one week, Monday March 29 at 17:00 MDT.

We have a DRAW PROPOSED, a two-way draw between England and France. What this means is that you all must vote with your fall orders. In order for the draw to pass the vote must be unanimous between all surviving players. There is no abstaining, and failure to submit a vote is considered a vote AGAINST the draw. In other words, I need six yes votes in my mailbox for it to pass.

Maps are attached. Talk to you in a week. Don't forget to vote.....

Subject: Welcome to DC 313!

Hi everyone! My name is Sam Buck, and I'm going to be your GM for round two of Winter Blitz 2010. I realize you've all had the speeches about the rules and such in your first round games, so I'll speed through them:

1) CC your orders to orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com (orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com) . If I get hit by a falling anvil and have to go to the hospital, the DC mods (Gary and Mike) need to be able to run the turn, and if they don't have your orders, you'll wind up with an NMR. And nobody likes NMRs.

2) You all know the Scheduling. I will be doing Auto-retreats this game, so if your unit only has one place to retreat to, I will auto it to there. If you'd prefer to retreat OTB (Off The Board), notify me, and I will notify others.

Monday: Spring

Tuesday: Summer

Thursday: Fall

Friday: Autumn/Winter

3) Please put "DC313" into the Email subject line. I am currently Playing in DC284, DC285, DC294, and DC314, all while GMing DC313, DC292, and two as yet unnumbered games. Make my life happy, please.

4) If I have an error in My adjudication, then tell me within 24 hours. I had an incident this morning where I forgot about my Englishman's fall order in DC292. Nothing could be done about it, since he didn't notice it until after 24 hours had passed.

5)Conditional builds are allowed, since the autumn and winter turns will be treated as one. You should all know what that means, from last game. If you don't it just means that you can say:

If Turkish A Ukr retreats to Moscow, build A Sev, otherwise Build A Stp. (Just an Example).

6) There is no serious sixth rule. Oh wait, there is. HAVE FUN!!!

Now that that's over with, we have two more things to cover. The first is timing. The deadline for our games will ALWAYS be 3:00 PM US Eastern (19:00 GMT). I will remind you of this for the first couple of years, but after that, I don't think that it's too much to remember. If this ever changes, you will be informed. I will accept orders up to the point that I publish the Adjudication, but that will usually be VERY shortly after 3, so just get them in on time. Please?

And now, we have (drumroll) COUNTRY ASSIGNMENTS!!! Remember, these are random, so I'm sorry if you don't like what you got. Just try to have fun, you never know what might come of it.

dc316 game start! - Viper   (Mar 22, 2010, 6:37 pm)
Hey everyone... I look forward to the game. One thing to note... Austria and I are both from Winnipeg, MB, and we know each other somewhat. It doesn't mean anything from a tactical standpoint, but it's fair to let you know.

Welcome to our round 2 game, everyone!

For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Cory Burris, and I have been a member of DC for nearly 4 years. Most of my Diplomacy activity recently has been limited to GM duties, as the task of locating billions of dollars for a cratering state budget has taken up a fair amount of my time in recent months. I have the (mis)fortune of working in the budget office of the Governor of Illinois, who took office a year ago after our previous Governor was impeached and removed from office! No, I am not related to our state's junior US Senator, who was appointed by that former Governor before he was sent packing. Incidentally, given our state's backlog of unpaid bills, does anyone know a good way to find $13 billion fast?

Since this is a tournament game, there is a common set of rules and season deadlines that all GMs are observing. This can be found at www.diplomaticcorp.com/winterblitz -- be sure to click the "Rules" option near the top of the main screen once you go to this page. Timing is the same as in round 1; my deadlines will all be at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.

An important note: when submitting orders, make sure to include the game identifier "dc-316" in the subject line, and also cc: the tournament's Orders box (orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com) -- this is for your protection in case your e-mail doesn't get through to me, or if I am not available and need a moderator to run a turn. One of my players in dc-291 sent an e-mail that didn't arrive in my inbox for a day, but fortunately did reach the Orders box, saving him from an NMR.

Press is allowed and encouraged. For those who are unfamiliar with press, that is simply generic messages that are made public as a part of the turn's results. Typically, press is just generic silliness that may or may not pertain to the game. There is actually some good press in the dc-274 game, so you can read the different turns on that game to see some examples.

Don't forget to check out the game's page on the DC web site at www.diplomaticcorp.com/?game_id=dc316 -- I will update it after each adjudication. I will also e-mail each adjudication to everyone, as well as a .dpy game file for use in the Realpolitik adjudication software.

And now your lineups!
Austria: Matthew Jones (matthew.jones.d-at-gmail.com)
England: Michael Penner (mvpenner-at-yahoo.com)
France: Matt Ruhlen (mruhlen-at-hotmail.com)
Germany: Scott Ellis (crimson_93-at-yahoo.com)
Italy: Eric Brown (ecbrown88-at-yahoo.com)
Russia: Marc Peters (madpeters-at-earthlink.net)
Turkey: Mikael Johansson (m_don_j-at-hotmail.com)

The spring 1901 deadline will be Monday, March 29 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Preliminary orders are strongly encouraged! Also, since Europe's clocks advance this weekend, we should all be back to our usual time difference. Mikael, please let me know if I'm still off an hour.

Thanks for playing, everyone, and happy stabbing!

Cory
