DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - A Clockwork Haven:... - garry.bledsoe (Feb 25, 2010, 10:52 pm) |
Timely Creatures Are Happy Creatures!
All Orders On Time And On We March...
Many Races Seem to Decide That The Trolls Are Naughty
The Ogres Continue Expansion
The Faeries Reposition and Press Their Fronts Forward
The Dwarves Lose a Center But Scream Parlay As They Do Some Pirating of Their Own
The Knights Defend Their Northern Stronghold But For How Long?
The Undead Reclaim To-Gai-Ru for the Interim.
A Brutal Fall Awaits...
Wow! First, thanks to all for staying on target with orders. It seems to have been a while since we had a smooth turn so it seemed that this humble GM should stay up late (in spite of a rough work day of travel) to get our results out. Second, I am quite intrigued by the twists this game continues to take. I cannot wait to see the finish on this one!
We have one lone retreat: The Troll F at Owlwood can retreat to Trog Bog, to Troldhaugen or OTB. Please send me that by Saturday at 6pm CST. If you mark it FINAL before that I will get out an update.
Beyond that, let's set up Fall16 for March the 4th at 6pm CST. I need to get that deadline in before heading out of town the next day!

Interesting turn, a lot of bouncing and conflicts this turn, in the Black Sea, Venetia, Greece and Belgium. Turkey seems to be taking control of the battle with Russia in the Southeast. VIENNA, Fall, 1901
Mitolo here. I am becoming distressed. My archduke has not been seen for many weeks. He is sequestetred in the basement of the castle and many women, most dressed in black leather, seem to pay him regular vists. We send food down three times a day. I have been given the assignment to find something called "nipple clamps." I am guessing that I should be looking in the plumbing section of a local hardware store. If any of you have better ideas about where I might find such things, please let me know.
Mitolo
There you go. Maps and realpolitik file are attached. Have a great weekend, and get those builds in!

Good evening,
We have another turn with no Russian activity. I have been in contact with you Tim, so I don't think there is a need to find a replacement unless you think you need one. Fortunately for you, you have not really been getting attacked. Going into this winter, France is the only country that gained or lost supply centers, gaining 2 of them. So good job Mark. DC292: Fall 1907 Adjudication - sam_buck_productions a... (Feb 25, 2010, 7:21 pm) |
A disastrous turn for Italy as an NMR leads to the loss of 3 of its 6 supply centers. I've searched throughout my mailbox again and again, but there is nothing. As the winter turn is near, however, the game must go on. The only retreat, English F English Channel can retreat to the Irish Sea, London, or Picardy. Presuming John does not order an OTB, adjustments are as follows:
Italy: Remove One
Russia: Build Two
Since we the number of powers on the board does seem to be slowly winding down, I think now might be a prudent time to remind you all of your EOG options. This game can either end in an automatic Solo when someone gets 18 centers, or an End of Game (EOG) proposal can pass. To propose an EOG proposal, simply email me with your proposition, and I shall put it up to vote. All players who are not eliminated get a vote. If players vote unanimously in favor of a certain EOG proposal, then it passes, and the game is over.

Hey guys,
.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;} Heres the Fall 1907 adjudication. Not much exciting going on. Two years before round 2 starts up and this game doesn't look like its ready to finish anytime soon, my advice is not to forget about this game when the others start up.
Austrian F Bulgaria(sc) only has one retreat (to Greece) so I can do that automatically. Let me know if this is not preferable for you within 24 hours.
Both players affected by this auto retreat should submit winter orders for both scenarios!

1926 091119: End-Game Proposal - charlesf (Feb 25, 2010, 5:20 pm) |
Hi guys,
a first end-game proposal has been submitted, namely a draw including Britain, Poland and Turkey.
Now to the formalities: The voting deadline coincides with the present season's deadline, i.e. Saturday 6 PM CET. Any power presently controlling at least one SC is eligible to vote. For an EGP to pass, all eligible voters need to explicitly vote YES. Not submitting a vote is considered a NO. For an EGP to pass the vote has to be unanimous. Should I have a unanimous vote, I shall immediately conclude the game without adjucating the present season anymore.
Well, I guess that covers it.
Cheers,
Charles[Reply] |
dc291 fall 1907 results! - coryfucius (Feb 25, 2010, 5:13 pm) |
Nearly everyone seems content to rest on their laurels, staying put to ensure that they hang on to the German centers they occupied in the spring. Germany licks his wounds at the expense of France - Jonathan, thanks for playing, and better luck in the next round.
No retreats are due, so we go directly to the winter 1907 adjustments, which are due tomorrow, Friday 2/26 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Adjustments will be due as follows:
Austria: build 1
England: build 2
France: remove 1 / eliminated
Germany: remove 2
Russia: build 1

ACD236/DC288: Balkans1860 Spring 1862 Results - Th... - Kenshi777 (Feb 25, 2010, 5:13 pm) |
Well folks, I have no record of orders from one player. Per my GM
House rules (copied below), the 24 hour grace period is in effect.
This game was also advertised as no NMRs adjudicated, so if I have not
heard from the player in question by that time, I will seek a
replacement.
I will probably change my house rules and my no NMRs adjudicated
policy before my next game that I GM after a very persuasive argument
by Mr. Sims, but they remain in effect for this game.
B's GM House Rules
Timeline - Orders submission suspenses will be firmly established at
the start of the game, and adhered to. 24 hour grace periods will be
allowed until they are being abused, a determination made at my sole
discretion. "Away" or "Vacation" times must be requested no later
than one week prior to departure, extenuating circumstances will be
considered. Excessive away time for any reason (over 2 weeks) will
cause a player to be replaced at the GMs discretion. Any NMRs in the
first year result in automatic replacement. Two NMRs at any point
result in replacement. NO EXCEPTIONS. NMRs destroy the fun of the
game for everyone, and I have little tolerance for them. All players
that start a game are expected to play to completion regardless of
whether they are winning or getting annihiliated - anything less is
unsportsmanlike and juvenile.
Orders Adjudication - All adjudication will be performed by
Realpolitik or manually by the GM if RP support is unavailable. In
the event that an error in adjudication occurs (either by faulty
Realpolitik coding or human GM error) PLAYERS have the responsibility
to bring it to my attention. I will adjudicate to the best of my
ability, and almost always catch errors either myself or through
Realpolitik, but errors do happen. When they do, the orders
submission timeline will freeze while I review the error and publish
new results. The next orders suspense will resume at the regular
interval. If the error is caught after the subsequent adjudication
deadline, the GM will determine the most equitable solution for all.
Orders Submission - All players are encouraged to avoid abbreviation.
It's just lazy and causes problems. If you must abbreviate, be
absolutely certain that you use the APPROVED abbreviations for the
variant as listed in Realpolitik under the "Names" feature. Any order
that could refer to two different locations, an ambiguous unit, etc.
etc. will be considered INVALID, and the unit will hold. So play it
safe, and write out Fleet English Channel convoys Army Brest to
London. That took me 3 seconds to type. Finally, as a courtesy
please CC me (the GM) on all negotiations between players - it
definitely makes the game much more fun to manage when you know what's
going on behind the scenes.
Player Communication - I encourage players not to forward emails.
Paraphrase in your own words what another has told you. This is a
non-punitive clause, but reflects a certain norm or standard of play I
endorse.
Draws: All draw votes are acceptable - any surviving players may be
included or excluded in draw proposals. If a game can be conclusively
proven to be drawn (to the GMs satisfaction), then the outcome will be
determined as a DIAS, over player votes if needs be. Conclusive proof
must demonstrate three things - 1 - that no SCs can be forcibly
transferred, 2 - that the existing alliance structure will not change,
and 3 - that the stalemate line cannot forcibly be broken by any
means.
Catch All - Any topics not covered in this document should be raised
with the GM prior to the start of the game. All topics pertaining to
game play not covered in this document will rest in the sole
discretion of the GM.

Serbia was among the first of the breakaway Ottoman provinces in
Europe, and emerged independent only to find itself the pawn of
Austrian and Russian influences, who dominated her political arena,
even after the establishment of the Kingdom of Serbia in 1882. Beset
on all sides, Serbia has always been the front line of divide between
East and West in Europe, and this division - extending to her culture,
demographics, religion, and even loyalties - has undermined what was
otherwise a powerful and fiercely independent people.
And so it is with Garry here - fiercely independent, constantly
managing the foreign influences that threaten to destroy him. Though
the Austrians take with one hand (Sarajevo), they give with the other
(cutting support of Ancona). Garry loses Bitola and Beograd, but
gains Ancona and Sofia, a move which seems to have been unexpected by
the Bulgarians. So he ends the season with no losses, against all
odds. The Ottomans repel the invasion of Istanbul, but lose Salonika
to the invading Bulgarian forces. Whether they will be able to hold
it against rapidly advancing Greek forces in the region remains to be
seen.
Only Adam has retreats to order here (Ottoman A Salonika has no
retreats, and is destroyed). A Ancona and A Bologna may both only
retreat to Firenze - so one or both of them must disband. Adam -
please broadcast your retreats to the group as soon as possible
please.

Hallo zusammen,
after four years of pan-European warfare, it is finally time to say goodbye to one player. Germany has lost Hamburg and hence lacks the resources to sustain the last remnants of the once proud Reichswehr. Matt, thanks for guiding the first German republic through dire times. I hope you shall submit an end-game report to me before too long.
I suppose few might have guess that Stalin would remain longer in power than his German counterpart. While the Soviets have lost their Finnish bastion, there remains a route of retreat into Sweden, so survival is as yet an option.
Another power that certainly drew a short straw this fall is France. The loss of her overseas empire and Breton port sorely reduces French resources. And the Tricolore might soon also no longer fly over Switzerland.
That leaves us roughly speaking with Britain owning the North-West, Poland the North-East and Turkey the South-East map quadrants. The South-West remains rather "messy" by comparison.
In another development, the Turks have marched into Kazakhstan. Is that a sign of deteriorating Polish-Turkish relations? Stay tuned...
I ought to remind you guys that Egypt is a bi-coastal province. The Suez Canal merely runs though Suez proper as noted in the variant rules.
Retreats/Adjustments Orders are due no later than Saturday, 6 PM CET. Not sure whether I'll get round to adjucating on Saturday, but definitely can fit it in on Sunday.
Liebe Grüsse,
Charles

Subject: 1926 091119: Fall 1929 Moves
Liebe Grüsse,
Charles

And the conflict in Europe starts...
Everyone got moves in on time, thankfully!
The opening moves see a dispute between Russia and Turkey with a bounce in the Black Sea. Austria opens cautiously, with two forces holding, with his caution possibly warranted, as Italy sends two armies in Austria's direction. Elsewhere, Germany may be feeling uncomfortable, with opposing forces in Silesia and Burgundy putting pressure on Munich.
Attached are a movement map, a results map and a Realpolitick file. The game page on the diplomaticcorp.com website has also been updated. Deadline for Fall 1901 is Tuesday 2nd March at 2100GMT. Preliminaries are strongly encouraged. PLease note that due to a player request, the deadline after Fall 1901 won't be until around a week later i.e. longer than usual

DC 293: F1907 Adjudication - AceRimmer (Feb 25, 2010, 2:38 pm) |
Right about now, I'd say that David is feeling pretty good as Austria -- glad he got out of this before it got really ugly.
We have our second elimination forthcoming: Germany has no more SCs. Jeremiah, you were my choice to top the board. It saddens me to have to toll the bell on an old DipWorld mate. Better luck in Round 2.
Italy staves off elimination by thwarting the assault on Tunis.
France... did he really NMR, or is there a set of orders sitting happily in the orders confirmation inbox? Regardless, he seems to have lost his opportunity to retake Portugal.
England has the most complex year of all. He gains Portugal but loses Spain. Gains Belgium but loses Holland. And Berlin. And Norway.
There are two dislodgements, but both lead to disbands (A Holland and A Piedmont).
So, that brings us up to Winter 1907 tomorrow morning. Orders are due from everybody not named France.

DC270 France EOG - psychosis1973 (Feb 25, 2010, 2:26 pm) |
I've not got a lot to say in my end of game statement. I took over France in a pretty thankless position, and it didn't get much better. In fact I'm amazed at getting a survival out of the game. Germany played an excellent game, and deserved the solo.
Many thanks to Darryl for GMing. Patience of a saint is best description really, given the number of delays (I'll hold my hand up to causing a couple!). Staggeringly unfair comments from a bitter Austria...

DC270: German Solo!
All,
I have not heard from Dan (Austria); either in response to
the public vote for a German Solo or with order for the
current season. However, as Dan has now missed two
deadlines, house rules are that I replace him. Still, due
to the fact that Germany can occupy two supplies this season
. . . and I see no way a new Austria would be able to change
the out come, I am reluctant to get a replacement just to
end the game the way we all know it will end anyway.
Therefore, I have decided to remove Austria from the game
and call it a unanimous vote for the German Solo.
Congratulations, Joe on the victory.
At this point it is of interest to hear how the game
developed for each of you in End-of-Game statements. If
you are not familiar with this, please take the time to
review the game (I have attached the dpy file for your use,
or you can see the progression of the game by using the
slide show feature on the DiplomaticCorp site). Try to
remember where key actions occurred during the game and
explain why you did what you did . . . when you did it (I
hope that makes sense). Also, try to view things from the
view of the other players who will be interested in why you
stabbed them when you did . . . or why you did not follow a
particular agreement or another. If you were with this
game from the beginning, remember that some action you took
early in the game will be of interest to others as well; so,
don't just look at the last few years but all the way
back to the beginning . . . if possible. If you are a
replacement player, please explain the situation when you
joined the game and what influenced you to play the way you
did . . . or didn't.
Congratulations again to Joe on the German Solo victory and
I look forward to reading your EOG Statements.

Hey everyone and welcome to this, the three-hundred and fourth game of
Diplomaticcorp Diplomacy! (boy seems like I just put out one of these
starts yesterday)... This is Camel Spotting! Played on the outstanding
Ancient Med map. If you've received this email and you thought you were
signing up for Camel Speaking, that's the next door down. Camel Spitting,
unfortunately, was cancelled for reasons of liability.
Our goal here in this game is to spot camels. Lots of them. Tons. Well,
maybe a few. Ok to be fair, there are no camels to be spotted anywhere in
the game. But we'll still have fun trying. Along the way, we may pick up
or lose some centers here and there and if someone happens to gather 18 -
we'll call them the winner! Sound good?
Ancient Med is one of my favorite maps. It is such a simple design, yet
perfectly balanced in every way. It's got a very neutral start, in that no
particular power is really at a disadvantage like say Italy in the Standard
game... each power faces two neighbors, one to either side, and two other
powers further across the sea.
In most of my games I tend to do completely random assignments, and given
none of you have played this map before I see no reason not to do the same
here! So courtesy of some help from random.org, here we go!

Let's set the first deadline for next Thursday March 4, at 3pm Central US
time (2100 GMT).
That's 1 week from today.
For this first turn, prelims are required. That is, you have to send me
something asap, by early next week at the latest so I get something on file
for you. Most of you will know that I don't send out reminders, and once
we're out of the first year, NMRs will just fall how they do. Expect
adjudications to be timely - no fluffy delays, extensions, grace periods,
etc. Even tho you probly dont know what you want to do yet, just pick your
best guess and send in prelims -every turn- It will save you someday for
when you get stuck in meetings, your internet goes out, or aliens land in
your back yard and steal your camels and you dont get to the game when you
thought you would. In almost every case, it's better to have turned
something in early so your units dont doodle about and hold for the turn.
I think that's about it for now! If you have any questions shout them out,
and feel free to send out an intro or whatever for your country.
Enjoy,
-mike
