FYI all I will be traveling in South America all of next week. I expect to have reliable internet access from the hotels so should be no problem with submitting moves on time, negotiating, etc, but there may be some time delay of response. I will make sure to use prelims, etc, but please understand if I am slower than normal in replying.
Thanks,

Why don't you put forth a proposal for Solo for Brasil. I'll sure vote for it, but I doubt that everyone else will. Things are not so clear cut.

Yes I am assuming that Fredrik will win now. Without my resistance in the North, Colombia's Venezuala's and Peru's centers should all be no trouble for Frederik to sweep up. With those all going to Brazil he would only need 1 more of mine.

Alan,
I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now? He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?). Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16. Lots can change in the next few years.

Congratulations Frederik on a well earned solo. I'd like to convince myself that it was due to outstanding tactics and brilliant diplomacy but I just can't do that. Nation after nation in Northern Llamaland fell without any resistance to you, and when resistance was put up (and doing very well I might add) it was squashed by an overeager ally looking to pick up a few easy dots.

Generally you will find some new players in any standard game (re001 on the open games page - it is typically the proving ground). Variants tend to draw vets. Many GM's run games that are invite-only. You'll discover these and other ways to get into higher caliber game as you get to know ppl.
Of those currently open,
* Ben's Sengoku game is a very experienced group, he's only allowing in reputable players. i.e. must have completed some games, and have minimal NMR's (not even looking at abandons, down to the NMR level). Join that one if you want to face some of the best. Complex game w some extra rules.
* I have my own personal Haven creation open, and to this one I'm not as strict as Ben, but I do have to at least have some conversation w all entrants to see if I think they're in it to the end.
* Charles' 1926 is another strong group, but may be full (not sure)
The standard game (re001) is the one game that we keep open for anyone to join. Others are in some cases more selective, other cases not - up to the individual GM.

I admit waiting for a replacement and giving them a week is the only fair system. It kind of sucks though.
I don't favor drawing this game because whatever game we go to next is likely to have the same problems. Is there a game series that is only for players that have completed at least one game?

Hey guys,
Just watching quietly here as I help out finding new players for games that need them... It's actually good (in a way) that the quitters weed out early. Since you have Matthew running your game, and not some automated system, when things like this come up, at least you know that he is going to find a good group, and the game will eventually be "on". If any of you committed players want to join a second game in the mean time, you're welcome to do so. You may have to ask a GM to put you in the game if you're new and the system only lets you into 1 game at a time. Just so you arent holding here waiting forever for a game to start.

I completely agree and I'd say that if anyone has doubts about their commitment to the game now would be the time to drop out. That way this should be the last replacement for a while.

Hi All,
The way I see it, we have three
options:
1. Find a replacement and allow a
sufficient amount of time for him to meet and negotiate with
everyone.
2. Continue the game using some ad-hoc,
six-player rules.
3. Have someone propose a 6-way draw;
everyone signs up for new games and hopes for the
best.
I strongly favor option 1 and strongly disfavor
option 2. If anyone disagrees, now would be the time
to speak up. Feel free to e-mail me privately on this
matter.
Cheers,
Matthew

that would help?
Here's what I propose:
Delete Austria from the game. It's home SC
arn't counted for 5 years. That way his neighbors
don't have free SCs to immediately go after. I
guess France and England are the only ones that wouldn't
benefit from this though.
Or, what if we all submitted orders for Austria?
Whichever move order got the most would be what that unit
does? We keep doing this until a replacement is found
so we can keep the game going.
If a replacement is found soon please don't set the
deadline for another week. I'd say 48-72 hours.

Tell you what Alan,
Why don't you put forth a proposal for Solo for Brasil.

Hi guys,
battle-hardened mercenaries currently appear to be more in demand than sailors. Are Europe's statesmen anticipating a decision on land rather than at high sea?
As previously detailed, I mean to now shift to a Monday/Wednesday route. And so the spring season is scheduled for next Monday, though please send me your preliminary orders before Saturday 6PM CET.
Liebe Grüsse,
Charles

DC300 - Summer 1902 adjudication delayed - bielf11 (Feb 09, 2010, 1:09 pm) |
I have not yet received the Summer 1902 retreat orders. So you will have to wait another 24 hours at max before you receive the Summer 1902 adjudication.
This is a good opportunity to inform you that I have decided to grant every player 2 grace periods for the whole game.
A grace period applies when I have not received a player's orders at the deadline and allows the player another 24 hours to submit the orders.
Only one grace period is allowed for a turn.
Use them wisely, I'd say.

Snow has filled the passes between my house and my fiancee's house. Good in that I am trapped at HER house with her, not alone at mine own; bad in that it means that I cannot adjudicate such a pivotal turn!
Realworld software does not have a Mac version and is only loaded on my home PC. Sorry about this. I anticipate that the snow that has pounded Little Rock (and become ice today) will melt tomorrow and I can move us along.
Sorry!

.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;} All,
It seems that our Troll King wished to disband his A at Anvard in lieu of retreating. Unfortunately the map I have still shows an A in Dancing Lawn so I will get that corrected later (there is NO A in Dancing Lawn!). The other two retreats stand:
F Grs can move to OwlwoodF Thw can move to Far Far Away
Given this change, let's push our Fall deadline from the 2nd to the 4th at 6pm CST.
OH...and one more piece of business...the fabulous Undead Lady pointed out that my original email only contained the orders as written but not with the action that resulted. Those with results are included here.
Thanks.

Two-way EGP (Russia/Austria) FailsTurkey is Eliminated
The German RiechHold is Moved to France!
Russia Builds Four Again!! Is a Solo in the Offing?
All,
Lots to discuss! First we owe thanks to Jim for sticking through to the end. Sorry you could not get a survival but glad you stuck with us (unlike others). Second, we have a new set of EGP's: a Russian solo and a 3-way DIAS (Russia, Austria and Germany). Please vote on both with your Winter orders. If both pass, the most inclusive one (the 3-way) would be accepted.
Third, we had retreats needed but both only had one option so I took it: A Kie could retreat to Hol and A Mun could retreat to Bur. If Darryl would prefer OTB for either he can let us know with Winter adjustments. Fourth, we have Winter adjustments needed:
Austria builds 1
Germany removes 1 (unless one of the retreats was OTB which really is the same difference)
Russia builds 4
That should set us up for Winter. Please get Winter adjustments in by Thursday Feb 11 at 6pm CST.
Thanks.

Sorry for the delay. We were missing a vote and I could not allow that to be ignored. Our EGPs fail so we move on. Orders were:

Germany - remove F in Bre
France - GM disbands F MAO and F GoL (per standard rules)
We move on to Spring 1907. Those orders are due Sunday the 21st at 6pm CST.

Sorry for the late turn folks! But you guys rock, everybody in this game is consistently copying the orders address. This makes it a breeze to cover the turn for Sam. As to what's going on in this game... man if I didn't know better I'd say there were stabs going on all over the place!
For the summer, we just have a couple retreats due...
Russian A Nwy to StP or Fin
English F Den to HEL or NTH
Since I'm a bit late in getting these out I cant make the retreats due w/o at least 24 hrs... so they're officially due tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8am Central time / 1400 GMT. However if we get them today we'll send those right out to you all.
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Yes I am assuming that Fredrik will win now. Without my resistance in the North, Colombia's Venezuala's and Peru's centers should all be no trouble for Frederik to sweep up. With those all going to Brazil he would only need 1 more of mine.

I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now? He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?). Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16. Lots can change in the next few years.

Wedged into the tiny mess hall of the snowbound outpost, Agent Fresh wrapped the reindeer skin tighter about his shoulders and puffed hard on the Sobranie. The two adjutants shivering next to him, leaned perceptibly closer to the glowing tip of the luxury cigarette, and attempted to keep the chattering of their teeth in time with their superiors' angry staccato on the electric telegraph; as he transmitted his Spring report to Zurich.

DC270: Deadline Reminder - dipknight (Feb 09, 2010, 12:10 am) |
All,
Less than 24 hrs to the deadline and I have 1 of 5 required set of orders. I give up; I've preached more than enough about the use of preliminary orders. So, get me your orders as you please. But, no later than 24:00 hrs GMT tomorrow to avoid the NMR orders.

DC270: Deadline Reminder (dc270) dipknight Feb 09, 06:52 pm |
I now have 3 of 5 sets of orders . . . Unfortunately, I am reluctant to proceed without at least one of the missing people. I will send personal reminders to them . . . and give them 48 hours to respond. If I don't hear from them before Thursday evening I will replace them.
Thanks,
Darryl (GM)

DC297; Spring 1905 Results - dipknight (Feb 09, 2010, 12:01 am) |
GM’s remarks:
Ok . . . some of you are getting a little lax on including the orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com (orders-at-diplomaticcorp.com) address in the “cc:” of your orders. I apologize that my real life had me away a few hours longer than I expected this evening. However, had it been much longer, one of the Moderators of the WB was prepared to step in . . . and, a couple of you would have had NMR’s as a result. They have already said more than once; that, “you forgot” will not be an acceptable excuse and the season will not be redone to include your missing orders. So, please, please, please . . . ensure that you include the above address in the “cc:” of your orders.
Without further ado; your results, although be it a little late. Remember, retreats due by tomorrow evening.
