DC 281 Winter 1901 Adjustments - psychosis1973   (Dec 01, 2009, 11:23 am)
Only a few hours early, but everyone's sent in their builds, so I've run the winter adjustments. Three armies and five fleets are raised across Europe, as the intentions of some powers become clearer...

Deadline for Spring 1902 moves is Monday 7th December 2100 GMT

Can I also ask everyone to email me with their preference for deadlines over Christmas. I'm available throughout the Christmas period, but I recognise that others may have arrangements that keep them away from net access...

Austria:
Build A Vienna
England:
Build F London
France:
Build F Brest
Germany:
Build F Kiel
Build A Berlin
Italy:
Build F Naples
Russia:
Build F St Petersburg(nc)
Turkey:
Build A Constantinople

DC 260 (Asian): S1909 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Dec 01, 2009, 10:44 am)
The Persian west flank continues to slowly crumble as Siberia advances into Ukraine and Uzbekistan. India and Indonesia swap centers. And that rogue Indian fleet retreats to the safety of Pakistan. The Showdown in the East China Sea looms next season.

Winter 1997 was due last night, unfortunately my computer did not want to turn on. It'll be out before the end of the day today, and if you haven't got your orders in by then, tough luck. If you don't have confirmation I don't have your orders.

DC 262: Angstskrik - Spring 832 Postponed - Kenshi777   (Nov 30, 2009, 4:04 pm)
I had forgotten that our Anglo-Saxon player is still out of country
until 12/2. Spring 832 will be extended until his return, and a
reasonable period thereafter for negotiations.

All players may continue to negotiate and revise their orders until
the next deadline, to be determined.

I'm also going to take this opportunity to note something that should
have been mentioned in the winter adjustments.

The information below is a recopy of the status as of the Fall adjudication.

Gaels: Supp 6 Unit 6 Build 0
Scots: Supp 7 Unit 7 Build 0
Bretons: Supp 0 Unit 1 Remove 1
Norse: Supp 3 Unit 5 Remove 2
AngloSaxons: Supp 6 Unit 5 Build 1
Danes: Supp 16 Unit 13 Build 2
Swedes: Supp 0 Unit 0 Build 0

Note that the Danes had one build forcibly waived because one of their
home SCs (Jelling) was occupied by one of their own fleets. It is my
normal practice to announce any waived builds (voluntary or otherwise)
with the winter results, and I did not do so this past season.

Diplomats,

Because I forgot to send out a reminder yesterday and the fact that it's been Thanksgiving and that some of you have been out of touch, I've decided to move the deadline for this turn by 24 hours. You now have approximately 29 hours before the moves are due.

Next turn: Fall 1903 Movement
Next Deadline: Tuesday, 1st of December, 19:00 GMT (7PM).

/Fredrik

2009/11/24 Fredrik Blom <fredrik(at)familjenblom.se>

Good morning diplomats,

The Italian Fleet did not retreat to the Ionian as I previously suggested - it retreated to North Africa instead.

Next turn: Fall 1903 Movement
Next Deadline: Monday, 30th of November, 19:00 GMT (7PM).

Some orders for the next turn have already been turned in. Keep the preliminaries coming, and have a happy Thanksgiving. Be kinder to your family members than you are to your fellow diplomats.

/Fredrik

Moving, Limited Internet - TheWhiteWolf   (Nov 30, 2009, 8:50 am)
Folks,
As some of you may know, I spent this past weekend moving closer to work. Part of the pain of moving is physical (are you as sore as me, Blue?) and part is a certain disconnection. The specific disconnect that affects Dip is my internet - I can access it from work, but Comcast hasn't seen fit to transfer my home service yet. (And I don't have any map support from work.)
I'll let you guys all know as soon as I find out when I'll be connected. Until then, I'm putting a temporary hold on deadlines for games I'm running. Mike, Trout, and Blue, I'll try to make sure my moves are in on time using the JPG or GIF maps you send out with adjudications. If you wouldn't mind spreading the word to my boardmates that I'm here but a bit out of the loop, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for your patience, guys. I'll try to make this as painless as possible.

Folks,
Thanks for bearing with me. Internet has been restored to the Jameson household, and I'm going to spend the next couple days catching up. I'll send emails for each game I GM individually, and I'll work on getting up-to-date with games I'm playing in.

Thanks again,

/Fredrik

2009/11/24 Fredrik Blom <fredrik(at)familjenblom.se (fredrik(at)familjenblom.se)>

DC267 Summer 2014 Adjustments - MattTheLesser   (Nov 29, 2009, 11:01 pm)
Sorry this is coming a bit late; I got caught up in the hustle and
bustle of Thanksgiving. In short, Russia retreats F Lapland - Archangel
and A Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge OTB, and then Canada builds F Western
Canada, Denmark builds F Nuuk, and Russia builds A Pevek. The next
deadline, for Fall 2014, is this Thursday, December 3, at 9 pm eastern.

Hi guys,

I've received the following mail of Nick's in response to mine:

"I have honestly thought that I would have the time to do so in the past weeks, but found that I did not when it was too late. I think I should get my personal affairs on a stable footing, and that this should be my priority. I did not want to resign as I thought that would be harmful to the game, but if my non-resigning is also harmful, than perhaps it is best that I do go."

Continued near-gunboating simply presents too great a liability to the game. Since all hope in any improvement on the part of Nick's happens to be gone, I am now seeking a replacement for Austria and putting the game on hold.

I should add that two players who otherwise failed to submit their build orders on time would have suffered the due consequences of doing so. I made the judgement call that in light of the game anyway being on hold, I'd unilaterally postpone the winter adjucation until a replacement is found.

I wish I weren't put in a position in which I have to make these types of decisions since neither course is particularly pleasing.

My hope is that it won't be too long until we're back on track.

And the Fall 1901 moves see more craziness and strife across Europe...

Bizarre goings on between Italy and Austria as armies clash in Vienna but an Italian army elsewhere seems keen to help an Austria army back into Trieste. Russia and Turkey clash in Bucharest, with no victor, whilst in the West, the French fleet likes the look of the Belgian beers, only to be replaced in the channel by an English fleet. Germany seems to be the only power not engulfed by conflict, and is also the only power to get two builds...coincidence?

As a special treat, I've received some rumours from an unidentified source

MESSAGE STARTS
The unpleasenttries of the past seem to have started to resolve themselves -- The Italians and the Austrians -- The Russians and the English --- The French and everyone else. Someone actually did a map for this several years ago (it was discussed in the Diplomacy Variant Workshop yahoogroup). It was the modern world, much simplified, but the geometry when reduced was indeed the symmetrical geometry of a soccer ball. A truly elegant idea.
