Spring 1909: the Russian Solo endgame proposal was voted down.
And thus the conquest continues.
Seems that France and Russia have a language problem on which unit is supporting and which needs to be supported for its joint attack on Kiel. The German army in Kiel succumbs to the advancing Russian war machine and is destroyed. Its attempt to avoid the confrontation with the Russians by moving to Ruhr failed because in turn its army in Ruhr saw its destination Belgium snatched away by the French; but only because the Russian fleet in the North Sea cut the German support from Holland.
The Russian army in Triest, perhaps to its own surprise, has been able to move into Venice as the Italians have left voluntarily for Apulia. Was it because they sensed Russian pending doom without the French support they had been receiving sofar?
Meanwhile the Russians may have been served a surprise themselves as the Turkish army has entered Serbia. Or was this an orchestrated manoever by these two Powers? Clearly Turkey is advancing West and Italy will find it hard to hold on to its turf.
England has done its all too familiar shuffle again, trying to keep a low profile, they say.
With 3 Powers having been reduced to only 2 units, who will be next to feel the wrath of the ruling Powers?
No retreats this Summer.

To the King of Prussia, His Imperial and Royal Majesty, Kaiser Wilhelm II:
From the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and

Dear William, The Cabinet and War Council have accepted
your request to remove our fleet from Denmark. However, a
promise we have made to our brother Frederick stipulates
that we shall return forces to the Copenhagen garrison upon
his request. Please do not cause him grief; we ask that
you maintain your navy in the Low Countries, and not in
Kiel or the Helgoland Bight.

We are anticipating the securing of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean, as
well as your capture of key Mediterranean ports. We encourage
you to build with a focus of strengthening your Eastern Front.

Your Uncle and Friend,
Bertie

Heya folks,

Looks like I made a slight error in my deadline warning there on Friday - my apologies.  The deadline last night was for the retreat step, in which Russia disbands their navy in Sweden.  Winter 03 is now on the plate.  =)

I have most sets of orders in hand already, but there's still one or two out there to come in.  We'll keep on cruising and set Winter 03 for Monday, April 20th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers all!

Folks,
There will be a small delay while we wait for a French replacement player to take over. Benjy did not get orders in by the deadline I set. In the email I said that if I did not hear from him by 3pm Sat April 18th that I would replace him. So I am seeking a replacement player. Hopefully this won't take too long.

dc235 Dirkfell w1914 update - mike at southwall.com   (Apr 19, 2009, 8:04 am)
Hey all,
Realpolitik will disband a unit if it's dislodged but wasn't ordered. Therefore England should have had the option to retreat Rumania. After some thought on the matter, I extended him the courtesy of submitting a retreat (since he should have been able to in the first place) till last night, and he took me up on the offer. Because of extending Winter till Saturday night for what was a GM error, all orders up till then are counted... which means no NBR for Turkey.

Official (and final) results:

RETREATS:

England:
A Rumania - Ukraine

BUILDS:

England:
Build

France:
Remove F Western Mediterranean

Germany:
Build A Kiel
Build A Munich

Italy:
Remove F Tyrrhenian Sea

Turkey:
Build A Constantinople
Build A Smyrna

That's it!

NOTE: Orders are STILL due Monday! The only thing this changes is the English army should have had the option to retreat to Ukraine, and the Turk did not miss the builds.

Assuming that there is nothing in the orders box, we have NO RETREATS and Turkey gains big [2 builds]. Alas on such a fluke Italy is eliminated. France is down to a lone force and England and Germany still get to build with Turkey.

DC251, Fall 1901 ADJUDICATION!!!!!!!! - Slangers   (Apr 18, 2009, 4:40 am)
DC251 Shadowplay.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSurprisedfficeSurprisedffice" />
Fall 1901. In which the English decide that Scandinavia would make a good setting for a winter holiday. The Tsar’s planned summit with the Kaiser in Berlin goes awry when he is refused a visa. The French and Germans get all cooperative in Belgium. Turkey and Russia get very stroppy in Rumania, but to no avail. The Austrian belatedly annexes half of the Balkans.
The adjudication begins with an apology to Matthew. He did submit orders on time (in fact his were the first to come in), but I lost them. Hopefully this aberration will be my only mistake in the game, and my usual efficiency will be applied to the rest of our time together. On with the moves:

DC 224 Slaughter Of GM-Time - Spring 06 - Attentio... - former.trout   (Apr 18, 2009, 3:05 am)
Folks,

Hit a couple of snags last night, as is obvious.  Some due to missing player orders from those who had never been late before...  Other snags due entirely to the persistance of RL matters in keeping yours truly from the net.  (As evidenced by my writing this at 2 AM in the morning.)

Nonetheless, that sob story is now put to rest.  Apologies for the whining, and thanks to those who brought out their violins.  (In the words of one of my own GMs this week, I plan to eat more fibre.)  =P

The tale this turn could be one of the small versus the extremely large - as the Hobbits turn to confront the Ogre in the basement.  Of course, the powers that be manage to reinforce the unoccupied Hobbit centers as a precautionary measure.  And in the north, the Trolls manage to finally eat that troublesome Magician army.  We say thank you to Rob for his efforts in the game - and for making sure that he washed before supper at Troll House.  =P

Three retreats are needed - One Ogre, one Archer and one Elf.  Deadline for the Summer 06 turn will be set for Monday, April 20th (11:59 PM GMT).

Please let me know if you spot any errors in the adjudication.  Cheers folks!

Heya folks,

I made a mistake adjudicating spring07 season because I mixed up two sets of orders from Russia.

Thay are quite the same except he ordered
A Berlin - Munich
A Ruhr Supports A Berlin – Munich

Instead of
A Berlin Supports A Ruhr - Munich
A Ruhr - Munich

The corrected map is attached

Sorry for the inconvenience.

DC248 Winter '04 Adjudication - Samnuva   (Apr 18, 2009, 1:46 am)
It's the home centers, unfortunately. I don't like it very much either, but rules are rules: Failure to submit a disband for winter, will result in units being disbanded following these rules in order:[list=1:c4b3a23583][*:c4b3a23583]Units furthest from the nearest home center before units closer to the nearest home center[*:c4b3a23583]Units not in a supply center before units in a supply center if equidistant from home[*:c4b3a23583]Fleets before armies if still no unique unit selected per above[*:c4b3a23583]Alphabetical[/listSurprised:c4b3a23583]

On the default removals... I thought the policy was changed to say that it was owned centers not home centers. Sam, can you check with Mike or Trout to make sure that these should be the removals? I will trust what they say, as we just debated this in another recent game.

Thanks.
