DC 218 SHIFT LEFT: Fall 1907 results. - camorse22   (Apr 17, 2009, 7:23 am)
O, esteemed GM. I believe you told us that the Italian army was in Naples after the Spring. Could it be that he is still there, rather than in Rome?

No retreats are needed so we move right to builds. This is what I need:

Austria: Supp 6 Unit 4 Build 2
England: Supp 0 Unit 0 Build 0
France: Supp 3 Unit 4 Remove 1
Germany: Supp 8 Unit 4 Build 3
Italy: Supp 7 Unit 4 Build 1
Russia: Supp 6 Unit 4 Build 2
Turkey: Supp 3 Unit 3 Build 0

One player is getting married (talk about Diplomacy!) Saturday so we are on a hiatus
until 5/4/09 at 2100. If I get his adjustment before I will change that deadline but for
that's where it stands.

Phew!

Finally got acess to a public computer. I will postpone the game untill I get back into action, and since Andrew is away from 17th - 25th, collateral damage should be minimal. Thanks for understanding.

Folks,
The deadline for Winter 06 was back on the 13th.
Because of life ( We have recently decided that my husband
should reenlist ) I didn't get the adjudication out.
Which means the two sets of orders that I am missing had an
extra 3 days to get their orders in and did not. So I
propose a vote among the players. Do I allow the two
NMRer's to send in their orders or do I just NMR them?

-Rachael

DC235 Dirkfell F1914 - 3 NMRs? Trout Please Check... - paetunya   (Apr 17, 2009, 3:13 am)
Wow !
I’m sure I sent my orders in time (about last Tuesday), see them below
But I didn’t received any acknowledgement and sent a mail to Garry yesterday. No response either.

I just received this mail at the minute (7 hours later?!)

I had about the same problem with DC246…

Alas I can’t forward you the involved mail because I automatically delete my mails once they are sent.

No Snappy Headlines

All,
I think something is amiss. I find it hard to believe that we have 3 NMRs this turn so I urge Trout to check the orders box in case my message was misinterpreted about where/when to send orders. I WILL BE GONE FOR WINTER AND NEXT SPRING. PLEASE COPY THE ORDERS BOX ON THOSE. orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com (orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com)

Assuming that there is nothing in the orders box, we have NO RETREATS and Turkey gains big [2 builds]. Alas on such a fluke Italy is eliminated. France is down to a lone force and England and Germany still get to build with Turkey.

TROUT: I attached both the previous adjudication RP file AND the new one just in case there is something in the orders box.

A&E 090205 / DC240: Austrian apocalypse - NickHiggins   (Apr 16, 2009, 11:42 pm)
A&E 090205 / DC240: The Spring 1767 season has been adjudicated. In a stunning stab, the combined forces of Turkey and Poland & Saxony have occupied 3 Habsburg supply centers. This news is surely devastating to the Viennese refugees as they flee the capital to more secure locations. On the Franco-Iberian front of that war, the Austrian side suffered another blow, with their army dislodged from Barcelona.

Turning to the north, the new superpower Denmark-Norway has clearly signaled their next target, apparently moving in order of "hotness of local ladies to ravage" from Sweden and now to Russia. Is Poland next? At least Britian is safeSmile The convoy of a Danish army to Karelia should prove troublesome to the protection of the virtue of Russian damsels in the fall.

Overall, this season was a major turning point in the game, and it will be interesting to see where things go from here, as the ascendant coalition has to decide whether to press on and finish off their enemies, or whether to turn on an ally for quicker gains.

There is only one retreat order needed (from Austria), and I will adjudicate as soon as I receive it. The deadline for Fall 1767 is Thu Apr 23rd.

We have two sets of press (Thanks!) before the adjudications:

Press #1 (Russian)
Russian Definitions:

Novgorad: Frozen wastes only for Russians.

Kiev: Temporarily occupied territory.

Valpariso: Port of Chile where the Czar is stranded for a few more days.

Press #2 (British)

Press:
England to Anonymous: Nice definitions. Only real problem is that I’ve “stabbed” one person in this game, and it’s the Frenchman that I’m currently supporting. It’s a pretty far stretch to say I stabbed Spain when I knew he was actively working against us.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There was a draw vote. Four ballots were cast. Unanimity was not achieved. Peace did not break out.

Again, two seismics bounced. And two succeeded. Clearly, the battle front has shifted from Berlin to Russia. Sevastopol grows in influence. Moscow diminishes. Expect more fireworks on Tuesday. In the interim, I need two builds each from England and France. I need two disbands from Russia. Due tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I received a few comments about overtaxed personal lives. I could stretch out deadlines to help, but I suspect that regularity may better benefit my players. Therefore, eat more fiber. And I intend to continue with a one game year per two weeks cycle. Contact me if you would like otherwise.

Ok Garry. It seems curious to me this strange coincidence of 3 NMR on 4 but supposing…
Anyway I don’t see why the English RUM army disappeared. She can retreat to UKR.

I know why : you used realpolitik and if an unit is attacked while NMR she is automatically destroyed by the program.

Cheers,

Laurence.

You cannot withstand their assault, therefore continuing to fight is pointless and just wastes all of our busy times. It also means we get zero points instead of survival points

O, esteemed GM. I believe you told us that the Italian army was in Naples after the Spring. Could it be that he is still there, rather than in Rome?

I'm not sure why the DPY file was wrong, since the GIF was correct and that comes
right from the DPY. Either way, this should be the correct map and the only changes
are that Italy IS in Naples and he now has two builds.

A&E 090205 / DC240: I should have read through all of my e-mail, as that player sent a later e-mail revoking their request for an extension. I will adjudicate later tonight (likely a couple hours after the deadline). Please double check your orders, as I will not have time to review them before adjudicating.

NMR them. After a full deadline and THREE extra days, if they still don't feel it worth the two minutes it'll cost them, they don't deserve to move.
Unless, of course, I'm one of them. ;o)

Folks,
The deadline for Winter 06 was back on the 13th. Because of life ( We have recently decided that my husband should reenlist ) I didn't get the adjudication out. Which means the two sets of orders that I am missing had an extra 3 days to get their orders in and did not. So I propose a vote among the players. Do I allow the two NMRer's to send in their orders or do I just NMR them?

Great idea! For now, we have the 2...
Best Stab
Best Press
Any suggestions on them so far??

We run two tournies here... the WB in the winter, and then the DCI in the summer... that's pretty much a whole year's worth of activity, not sure we could squeeze in another!

Woah... This was a very peculiar season. Germany looses all 3 of its
home centers, but still survives, since the Czar misordered the
Scandinavian forces. In other news, Russia's invasion of Turkey falls
flat on its face. We also see some action in the med that seems like
it could get really interesting. Autumn and winter will be due
tomorrow, april 17th, at 5:00 PM ET. Germany has the only retreats,
Berlin (Prussia) and Kiel (Helg. Blight), which I have autoed. On
another not, has anyone else gotten a huge amount of emails from the

Winter Blitz NMR's et al.. - jhack16   (Apr 16, 2009, 3:59 pm)
Hi Guys, just need to let off a bit of steam...

I realise the Swiss pairings thing of the WB is a bit of a lottery, but the principle of winners with winners, losers with losers should be carried through to NMR'ers and abandoners.

In a game I'm playing one player had two abandonments behind him before the WB started. He then runs up 4 NMR's in his first outing, and he's allocated a "Top Table"??

Now we've aleady had 2 NMR's by the same player and its only Fall '03...

C'mon guys!

I love the WB, I love the format, the timings, the great banter, all at a faster more intense level than the regular paced games, but surely to goodness with everyone knowing how NMR's and abandonments wreck the balance of the game these players should be screened out or left to NMR among themselves.

I'm only new to the hobby and maybe am missing something here (like patience Joe? Cant disagree there!), just hate to see committed players enjoyment spoiled by people with a cavalier attitude to the site and not too much respect for their fellow players.

Sorry, rant over guys...

Joe. Sad
