DC 247: F1903 - AceRimmer   (Apr 16, 2009, 2:43 pm)
There is a reward out for the first player who can locate Benjy the Italian. Our tournament directors, Sims & Trout have offered the keys to a brand new BMW. So, it's time to step up.

More seriously, I haven't heard from Benjy since Friday. I hope he resurfaces, but I'm asking the TDs to make contingencies.

Still, the NMR didn't prevent the Austrians from supporting the Venetian army to hold, and so it is that France is thwarted. Elsewhere, Germany and Austria swap dislodgements. And the Austrian and Turkish orders show a definite lack of mutual purpose.

So, for tomorrow (14:00 CST), we'll need the following:
German A Munich can retreat to Burgundy or Ruhr or OTB
Austrian A Silesia can retreat to Galicia or OTB

Then, in the absence of OTB retreats, the Winter adjustments phase will look like:
Austria: Supp 6 Unit 5 Build 1
England: Supp 6 Unit 5 Build 1
France: Supp 5 Unit 5 Build 0
Germany: Supp 5 Unit 5 Build 0
Italy: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0
Russia: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0
Turkey: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0

Fall 1903 Adjudication:

Austria:
A Bohemia Supports A Tyrolia - Munich
F Ionian Sea Convoys A Smyrna - Apulia (*Void*)
A Silesia - Berlin (*Dislodged*)
A Trieste Supports A Venice
A Tyrolia - Munich

England:
F Barents Sea - Norwegian Sea
A Finland Supports A Norway - St Petersburg
F North Sea - Belgium
A Norway - St Petersburg
F Norwegian Sea - North Sea

France:
F Gulf of Lyon Supports A Tuscany
A Piedmont - Venice (*Fails*)
F Spain(sc) - Western Mediterranean
A Tuscany Supports A Piedmont - Venice
F Western Mediterranean - North Africa

Germany:
A Berlin Supports A Prussia - Silesia
A Kiel Supports A Munich (*Cut*)
A Munich Hold (*Dislodged*)
A Prussia - Silesia
F Sweden - Baltic Sea (*Fails*)

Italy:
F Naples Hold
A Tunis Hold
F Tyrrhenian Sea Hold
A Venice Hold

Russia:
F Baltic Sea - Kiel (*Fails*)
A Livonia - Prussia
A Moscow - St Petersburg (*Fails*)
A Warsaw Supports A Livonia - Prussia

For years I have been developing and testing the various parts
which make up this game. Everything has been playtested and works.
Back in the 80'ies I entered and won a prise game for a $50 Zine
subscription; it was the most intense but rewarding game
I have played.

This game has it all, a variant Map, The Roman Empire, Goths,
Vikings etc.
You can build outside of home SC, change armies to navies,
order neutral units, and play the coresponding Diplomacy
Bond Game for a crack at a $100 Canadian prize.

And last but not least the greatest variant challenge,
the GM plays the Roman position!

Positions open!

With warm regards, Hugh

DC 220 Missing Orders - Verticallychallangedcutie   (Apr 16, 2009, 10:51 am)
Folks,
The deadline for Winter 06 was back on the 13th. Because of life ( We have recently decided that my husband should reenlist ) I didn't get the adjudication out. Which means the two sets of orders that I am missing had an extra 3 days to get their orders in and did not. So I propose a vote among the players. Do I allow the two NMRer's to send in their orders or do I just NMR them?

NMR them. After a full deadline and THREE extra days, if they still don't feel it worth the two minutes it'll cost them, they don't deserve to move.
Unless, of course, I'm one of them. ;o)

DC 211: F1910 Seismics - AceRimmer   (Apr 16, 2009, 8:47 am)
There was a draw vote. Four ballots were cast. Unanimity was not achieved. Peace did not break out.

Again, two seismics bounced. And two succeeded. Clearly, the battle front has shifted from Berlin to Russia. Sevastopol grows in influence. Moscow diminishes. Expect more fireworks on Tuesday. In the interim, I need two builds each from England and France. I need two disbands from Russia. Due tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I received a few comments about overtaxed personal lives. I could stretch out deadlines to help, but I suspect that regularity may better benefit my players. Therefore, eat more fiber. And I intend to continue with a one game year per two weeks cycle. Contact me if you would like otherwise.

How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. DC-230 Spring 1903 Adjudication - former.trout   (Apr 15, 2009, 10:35 pm)
Heya folks,

Slight correction to make here.  Not sure what the heck happened, but I totally misentered one of Turkeys orders.  The fleet in Ankara was ordered to the Black Sea - not to support the Black Sea to Budapest as I originally entered.

Net result - no change in the map or turn.  The Turkish move would have cut the Black Sea support for Rumania - which ended up being dislodged regardless.  However, I felt it important to point out that your GM was once again snorting the glue on the weekend.

Thanks to the player who pointed this out, and apologies for the error.  Deadline will remain as previously set.  Cheers!

All orders are in and the action is grooving again.  The board definitely seems split into two halves - one moving northwards, the other moving south.  Not necessarily good news for those powers in the corners though...

Two retreats were the result - the English in London and the Russians in Rumania.  However, only one option other than OTB was available in both cases.  Therefore I took the liberty and sent the two units packing to Yorkshire and Sevastopol respectively.  (If OTB is preferred in either case then please just let me know.)

Reluctantly, I have to admit that I'm giving up hope that Babak will be able to resume as GM of this game.  Please don't start screaming, but it looks as though you folks are stuck with me.  I will continue on as GM until Babak specifically writes to me and lets me know that he is able to resume.

So - please send all orders to me for now.  The next turn is Fall 03 - we'll set the deadline for Thursday, April 16th (11:59 PM GMT).

Happy Easter everyone.  Hope the lil bunny is good to all of ya.  =P

Cheers!

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - GMs Delay - former.trout   (Apr 15, 2009, 10:30 pm)
Heya folks,

Realizing that this is slightly unfair to the players, and apologizing for the necessity, but your humble GM has asked himself for a slight extension with the Spring turn.  And surprisingly enough, the extension was granted..  *nervous chuckle*

Seriously though, I'm really sorry guys.  The last few days have been a train wreck for me in terms of family responsibilities and I only have a narrow window tonight for net-time.  I'll set the revised deadline for 24 hours - Thursday Apr 16th (11:59 PM GMT).  The turn will not be put out until some hours past that...  But it WILL be out tomorrow.

I regret the delay everyone.  Thanks for understanding.

By the way, I have a soccer game tomorrow night, so the adjudication will be a bit late, or possibly Friday morning. Sorry in advance -- Nick

DC223 - Spring 1909 Adjudication - bielf11   (Apr 15, 2009, 6:22 pm)
Spring 1909: the Russian Solo endgame proposal was voted down.
And thus the conquest continues.
Seems that France and Russia have a language problem on which unit is supporting and which needs to be supported for its joint attack on Kiel. The German army in Kiel succumbs to the advancing Russian war machine and is destroyed. Its attempt to avoid the confrontation with the Russians by moving to Ruhr failed because in turn its army in Ruhr saw its destination Belgium snatched away by the French; but only because the Russian fleet in the North Sea cut the German support from Holland.
The Russian army in Triest, perhaps to its own surprise, has been able to move into Venice as the Italians have left voluntarily for Apulia. Was it because they sensed Russian pending doom without the French support they had been receiving sofar?
Meanwhile the Russians may have been served a surprise themselves as the Turkish army has entered Serbia. Or was this an orchestrated manoever by these two Powers? Clearly Turkey is advancing West and Italy will find it hard to hold on to its turf.
England has done its all too familiar shuffle again, trying to keep a low profile, they say.
With 3 Powers having been reduced to only 2 units, who will be next to feel the wrath of the ruling Powers?
No retreats this Summer.

DC246 spring 1903 results! - coryfucius   (Apr 15, 2009, 3:43 pm)
England and France continue their assault on Germany, and both powers move units eastward beyond the German front. Russia bounces a German attack on Sweden, and moves armies northward to defend St. Petersburg. Austria advances both north and west, while Turkey moves an army unopposed into Rumania. Italy is thwarted from sailing to the Ionian Sea by the combined Austrian/Turkish navies.

There are two retreats due, both from Germany:
The German fleet in Kiel may retreat to Baltic Sea, Berlin, or OTB.
The German army in Ruhr may retreat to Munich or OTB.

Babak, your summer 1903 retreats will be due tomorrow, Thursday 4/16 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT. In order to avoid further delays in the game, I will adjudicate once I receive your orders.

A reminder of our revised schedule for 1903, the fall 1903 orders will be due Friday 4/17 at 3pm Central (US) / 20:00 GMT. Thanks!

Cory

GM- all: What a shame to have two players NMR at this early stage. With Italian units all ordered to hold, we have a strange, eerie silence in the south. Please note that when I give a deadline, that is usually the time that I will run the adjudication. I feel I am pretty generous in sending reminders that the deadlines are close. If anyone feels they will struggle to make a deadline, just get in touch to see if I can arrange an extension.

Russia needs to retreat FSweden. Options include Baltic, Gulf of Bothnia, Finland and Skagerrak.
The next deadline (Summer 1902) will be 10 pm GMT, Tuesday April 28th, 2009. I will adjudicate before then if I receive the Russia retreat earlier than this.
Best wishes
Simon

Folks,
Fredrik found an error in the adjudication and he was correct. It was an error on my part and a big one.. I am really sorry guys. With the new fix the map does indeed change, as well as some armies moved into centers. Stephen or Trout realpolitik keeps crashing for me when I try to save the bmp to send out the map. If one of you could shoot out the new map I would be very greatful! Here's the change to the map.

Austria:

A Galicia - Ukraine

Also we have two retreats needed due to this change. Russian A Sevastopol can retreat to Moscow. Russian A Ukraine can retreat to Moscow.
Taylor please let me know which you would prefer to keep and which you want otb.

New Deadline it set for Mon April 20th at 7pm CST ( 11:59 GMT )
