DC 211: S1907 Adjudication - AceRimmer (Feb 20, 2009, 12:37 pm) |
Some units shift, but certainly not in Sweden. The results set up a promising (or despairing) F1907. Virgo will be lucky in love. Taurus should beware of uncertain business opportunities. This may be the time for Gemini to reconcile with an old friend. Libra is just plain hosed. Ursa (as in the Russian bear) has one retreat available from Berlin to Prussia. I am adjudicating it as such unless Mr. Lytton notifies me he prefers to disband. S1907 Seismics are due on Monday at 1000 CST.

DC219, Status update and a new Tsar! - m_don_j (Feb 20, 2009, 11:14 am) |
Fellow players,
Our new Russia is:
Andrew - drew3739o(at)yahoo.com
For Austria:
Rachel is having trouble with her Internet, thus our dear moderator Former Trout will step in (temporarily):
former.trout(at)gmail.com
Thus our rooster looks like this:
Austria – Former Trout - former.trout.gmail.com
England – charesv.hapsburg; timfuhrmeister(at)yahoo.com (timfuhrmeister(at)yahoo.com) (timfuhrmeister(at)yahoo.com (timfuhrmeister(at)yahoo.com)) Tim Fuhrmeister
France – Andrei; yubuusro(at)yahoo.com (yubuusro(at)yahoo.com) (yubuusro(at)yahoo.com (yubuusro(at)yahoo.com)) Andrei Patrascu
Germany – roadtomoscow: reinselc(at)yahoo.com (reinselc(at)yahoo.com) (reinselc(at)yahoo.com (reinselc(at)yahoo.com)) Chris Reinsel
Italy – Samnuva; Sam_Buck_Productions(at)Mac.com (Sam_Buck_Productions(at)Mac.com) (Sam_Buck_Productions(at)Mac.com (Sam_Buck_Productions(at)Mac.com)) Sam Buck
Russia – drew3739o(at)yahoo.com (archer280(at)gmail.com) (archer280(at)gmail.com) Andrew
GM – m_don_j; m_don_j(at)hotmail.com (m_don_j(at)hotmail.com) (m_don_j(at)hotmail.com (m_don_j(at)hotmail.com)) Mikael Johansson
Season to be played: Spring 1907
Deadline: With all this going on, and to give both Andrew and Trout a fair chance, let's set the deadline Thursday February 26, 20:00:00 GMT. Prelims are encouraged. For thoose who sent in prelims prior to the previous deadline, I still have thoose.
Other: My computer seems to be acting up, yesterday it was internet, today it wouldn't start...got it going, but I'm nervous that a huge crash is coming. I will let you know asap if anything goes wrong. Andrew/Trout, if you need any more information from me, like maps (other than the one on the site), let me know.
Cheers!
/ Mikael

Subject: DC 218 SHIFT LEFT -- Turkey Abandoned?
Has anyone spoken to Jack, the Sultan?
I haven't heard from him in the 10 days I've been aboard, and I just noticed that his positions in two other current DC games have been declared "abandoned."
Personally, I think NMR's totally suck. I don't want to step on any house rules, but if we're going to end up with another replacement delay anyway, why not do so before this turn is adjudicated?
And if Jack really is out there and has his orders in and just didn't feel like talking to me, then my apologies and please ignore this message.

DC236 Winter Blitz Board 6 - Fall 06 - End of Game... - ndeily (Feb 20, 2009, 7:26 am) |
I hereby propose a vote to end the game as an R/I victory. The pair have crossed the threshhold of 18 centers.
Not 100% sure if the tournament rules will allow it, but proposing nonetheless.

Hi guys,
Italy stretches, Russia holds their breath and Germany sneezes. I don't quite know exactly what I'm talking about, but that seems to describe what happened in Fall 06.
There was one retreat due from the Germans in Burgundy. That and the Winter 06 adjustments are due tomorrow - Friday, February 20th (11:59 PM GMT).
Drop me a line if you spot any errors. Cheers folks!

There has been conferring and pondering and (if I understand it aright) a little bit of witchcraft involved, but...
In consideration of the real life topsy-turvy that has led our France to disappear for a little while, the tournament directors are allowing a proxy France for the next few seasons, after which time, Rachel will resume her role. The proxy will be played by Steve Lytton, who can be reached at stevelytton(at)hotmail.com
I am going to push today's deadline back to 1500 CST (2100 GMT) to give people an extra chance to introduce themselves to Steve and to bamboozle him into placing some truly wretched orders -- though, from what I've seen of Steve's play in DC 211, he won't need any help...

Jean-Luc,
I think the maps have a small mistake, England's F Edinburgh was to move to the North sea, not the Norwegian, so it should stay in Edinburgh, right?

A&E 090205 / DC240: Spring 1763 adjudicated, a... - NickHiggins (Feb 19, 2009, 9:19 pm) |
A&E 090205 / DC240: The Spring 1763 season has been adjudicated. This has been a fascinating first season, with some very active diplomacy leading to some interesting opening moves and alliances. I'm not sure what Le Roi in France did to upset his neighbors, but the level of coordination demonstrated by the anti-French alliance was very impressive. Prussia managed to pop the British army in Hanover, and Sweden won the battle for the Gulf of Bothnia. In the east, nobody moved to Lithuania, which is highly unusual. With my articles on Denmark-Norway and Turkey, I was closely watching their opening movies, and I'm anxious to see how their strategies unfold.
We need a retreat order for one unit, the British army in Hanover. Here is our upcoming schedule:
Spring 1763 Retreat: Fri Feb 20th (or as soon as I receive them)
Fall 1763: Thu Feb 26th
Fall 1763 retreat: Fri Feb 27th
Winter 1763: Mon Mar 2nd
Spring 1764: Thu Mar 5th
Now we have some voluminous press from our British player, Frank Martin. I strongly encourage press, whether it is of the strategic or amusing variety. Thanks Frank!
Press:
England to Norway: As you can see, I¢m looking for growth somewhere else. Thanks for allowing me use of the North Sea pond.
England to France: Sorry Mike. I had to pick a target, and truth is, your neighbors wrote and coordinated a lot more. It sounds like you¢re very busy, but one has to consider these things when looking to pick an ally to last for a longer period than just the immediate. I hope you understand.
England to Spain: If all went well, you should be positioned to sack Marseilles. Kudos.
England to Austria: If all went well, you supported my southern neighbor. That selfless move will be rewarded shortly.
England to Turkey: I¢m thinking you will be pleased to see no English presence in the Med. Hopefully this will open talks.
England to Prussia: You never wrote. I¢m fearful that Hanover may have been popped. If not, then please engage us in future talks.
England to Poland: As agreed, I left HeW for your use. I hope I don¢t regret that move.
England to Russia: Hi, Nathan!
England to Sweden: Having played Sweden thrice, I don¢t envy the start. Here¢s hoping you were able to negotiate a fruitful treaty with at least one of your neighbors.

DC223 - Autumn 1905 adjudication - bielf11 (Feb 19, 2009, 8:42 pm) |
Autumn 1905: Italy's army in Berlin, without word from its leader, has become a vulnerable target of a German misinformation strategy.
By the end of Autumn there is little left of what once was the pride of the Italian infantry and cavalry. And thus the unit is considered disbanded.
Adjustments

England: Supp 2 Unit 3 Remove 1
France: Supp 7 Unit 6 Build 1
Germany: Supp 6 Unit 5 Build 1
Italy: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2
Russia: Supp 9 Unit 9 Build 0
Turkey: Supp 5 Unit 5 Build 0
Winter 1905 adjustments are expected by Sunday Feb 22 at 23:00 GMT.

DC223 - New Russian leader - bielf11 (Feb 19, 2009, 7:30 pm) |
As I thought a new Russian leader was quick to emerge. Didn't think it would happen this quick though.
I'd like to welcome Jorge Saralegui as the new Russia. His email address is included above.
After this it is up to yourselves to take care of the proper introductions.
Our Winter 1905 deadline remains for Sunday Feb 22 at 23:00 GMT.
Of course we'll expect Italy's Autumn retreat before that.
But before I forget: the latest Endgame Proposal, a 4-Draw TUR/RUS/GER/FRA, was voted down.
And thus we continue the peace efforts in Europe at the start of the 20th century.

DC232 fall 1906 results - coryfucius (Feb 19, 2009, 6:55 pm) |
Sorry for the delay, I have been dealing with $1B+ questions all day at work...
France takes over the last English home center, and also moves a fleet to the Baltic Sea, but makes no headway against the Austrian ground forces. England pulls back from St. Petersburg to defend her Scandinavian centers, but the threat leads Turkey to play defense instead of taking Warsaw. Italy marches into Tuscany, but otherwise there is no action in the south.
There is one autumn 1906 retreat due: England's army in Edinburgh may retreat to Clyde or OTB.
Winter 1906 adjustments are as follows:
England remove 2 (remove 1 if retreat OTB)
France build 2
Both the retreats and adjustments will be due tomorrow, Friday 2/20 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.

Joao has asked me to have him replaced as ruler of Russia.
Real life caught up with him so he could no longer consistently meet the deadlines for our game.
Joao, sorry to hear you couldn't finish the game. You had a strong start and I was looking forward to see you scheme towards a solo. But I think it's a good decision for the game.
I will post the vacancy on DC website tonite.
Once this position has been taken, and it shouldn't be hard to find a replacement with such an edge, we will continue with Winter 1905. Autumn 1905 will stay on for tonite.
