DC209 F08 STRANGE DAYS AHEAD - roback80   (Feb 09, 2009, 2:07 pm)
I was just trying to interject some humour... I am torn and we all have probably been on both sides of choices like this... Sucks yes, but part of the game and part of the duty of the GM's who graciously grant us their time to manage our games.

I jumping out of this debate now...

So we need to rely on a 3rd-party program, which Michael does not send out the .dpy files for, instead of using the map he does send, which does have abbreviations on it which are supposedly to be accepted? It definitely looks like HST, irrelevant of what the actual text name is.

Can you at least pls take the abbreviations off the map, if you're not going to allow the ones that are printed on it?

I guess I didnt look at the error initially, but this is silly to not accept an abbrev that's on the map that's sent out.

1 can clearly read Malacca Strait underneath the 3 letters in dispute. That alone makes it clear. The other earlier errors had the same conflict that should have raised a white flag.

Yeah but you have to agree the map clearly looks like HST,
or certainly could be read that way. I mean if we cant rely
on the abbreviations on the map we're receiving from the
GM, then what can we rely on?

Personally I would allow the move as well. However, to be
fair to Michael, he identified WAY early at the beginning of
the game that he was going to be taking a strict
interpretation of the abbreviations. I almost had an order
disallowed because I didn't call the province the right
name - but luckily I included the correct abbreviation in
brackets...

Long story short, I'd say its the GMs call to make. =)

DC209 F08 STRANGE DAYS AHEAD - vegas_iwish   (Feb 09, 2009, 1:50 pm)

A fond farewell to you, Mr. Mark of Turkey. You have finally been hunted down to your hole and gruesomely dismembered. I trust the experience was as fine for you as it was for Austria and Russia Smile Nothing more shall be required of you, except to know whether you wish to continue receiving adjudications in your inbox.

But there is no time to reminisce in the softly lit tones of a Kodak moment! Italy has been stabbed!?! (Maybe... as always, I can never say whether a 'stab' is real or illusory, but...). And England must choose where to cast his net in the North's inland sea. Shall he become a fisher of men? Of supply centers? Or merely of herring?

Retreats:
English F Sweden may retreat to Baltic Sea, Gulf of Bothnia, or OTB
French F Western Mediterranean may retreat to Tyrrhenian Sea or OTB
Turkish F Ankara may retreat but will avoid redundancy by disbanding.

Because our Austria will be away from the 12th through 17th, I would like to do retreats as soon as possible (preferably before the end of the working day). And that will give us space to set a Wednesday deadline for the F1906 Seismics. Then a Thursday deadline for Winter 1906.

Those are some VERY unkind words Mr Martin-Schwarze!

I'll need serious help to pull a Houdini in this on and the A/I/R seems like a pretty safe bet for now....

Subject: dc231 Fall 04 - Temp GM

Hi all,
It looks like we’re just waiting for a Russian build. As soon as I get that, I’ll send out some results!

Note you’re now sending orders to ME!

Did Trout mention? If you send orders to Christine, and not to me, you will miss out! (unless you want to miss out, in which case you’ll be tremendously successful)

But if you don’t want to be tremendously successful in missing out on your orders, then be sure you send the next few turns to ME, and not Christine. You can copy her if you like, tho it won’t impact anything. You can copy my son too if you like, but again it won’t help. He’s 1, and doesn’t check email. He’s likely to not know who you are anyways. And if you copy your local state Senator, perhaps that will help, but most likely not. What CAN help, is that I accept bribes, and generally if they come in the form of a nice bottle of Gin or Vodka, that could help accordingly.

I guess that’s about it for now!

So to recap: Send orders to ME. Not Christine (unless you want to) and send Trout some lumps of coal. Why? Cuz it’s cold in Canada, and maybe he can put them under his covers.

Russian build is due by Friday 6pm Central US time, which equates to midnight GMT.
Enjoy,
-mike

Hi everyone,

In light of Christine's loss, Mike will be stepping in temporarily as GM of DC-231. Please send all orders to him at mike(at)southwall.com (mike(at)southwall.com) (Also, ensure that the orders inbox at orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com (orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com) is also copied.)

Please note that due to time zone differentials, the deadline times will change. We'll tentatively set the Winter 04 deadline for tomorrow night at 11:59 PM GMT - though Mike may modify that if necessary.

Thanks folks,

Hey George Check Out This Watch - theaznqueen at transgl...   (Feb 09, 2009, 8:09 am)
I just got my wife a Bvlgari watch and she really loves it. I can't afford
to spend $30 000 on a watch for her, though I would love to; but this did
the trick. It looks exactly like the real thing and she's actually glad I
didn't spend $30 000 on a watch but saved $29 750 instead. This turned out
perfect guys, thanks for providing such a great product, with such great
prices. This was a great experience ordering from your company.

DC222 - Spring 04 GM Error - former.trout   (Feb 08, 2009, 2:58 pm)
Heya folks,

I'm afraid to admit that there was a blatant GM error in the Spring 04 adjudication... With apologies, I sent the German fleet in Denmark to Helgoland Bight instead of to Skaggarak as the Kaiser ordered. I have corrected this and attached the revised map.

So to be clear, the German fleet is in Skaggarak. We'll stick with a Monday night deadline for the Fall 04 orders but if anyone wants to request an extension due to this error correction then please just let me know.

Cheers all!

DC205 The Pleiades - Fall 09 - No Caviar Today, I'... - former.trout   (Feb 08, 2009, 2:41 pm)
Heya gang,

Sorry about the delayed adjudication, but thanks for the patience while I was caught away from home and computer these last few days. The war continues as the draw proposal is vetoed once again. As for the news from the front, France gains ground in the north, Russia battles back in Bulgaria and the border between Kiel and Denmark continues to be a no-mans land...

There was one retreat due from Italy in Bulgaria, but with only the Aegean Sea as an option I took the liberty. Packrat, if OTB is preferred instead then just let me know.

Otherwise, we move onto the Winter turn. France is up two, Italy and Russia both down one. Deadline for Winter 09 adjustments will be set for Tuesday, February 10th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers all,

DC224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Early Winter 03 - A... - former.trout   (Feb 08, 2009, 11:10 am)
Hi folks,

Apologies for the late adjudication. Your humble GM was caught unexpectedly away from house and computer for the last several days.

In any event, three of the retreating units are yanked from play this turn while Slightly Gulch and Grimpen Ward provide safe harbour to the remaining two.

I've received several sets of Winter adjustments in, but far from enough where I'd feel comfortable giving a short deadline... Therefore we'll set Winter 03 due for Tuesday, February 10th (11:59 PM GMT).

And the storyline continues...
