DC223 - Important reminder - bielf11   (Jan 14, 2009, 9:32 pm)
Dear players,

never before have I mastered a Dip game where so many players have been late in submitting their orders.
And that for a standard game where we've only just landed in Summer 1903.
Mind that some players have been very timely with their orders (thank you). But those that haven't make it annoying for the others (and for me, the GM).

From the start of the game I have explained what you to expect: like only one major season per week, with minor seasons usually within 24 hrs after a major season.
So far I have been very lenient, but today I have had to make the first harsh decision. And I didn't like it at all.
But I also don't want this to continue so I want to ask you all to keep those deadlines in mind.
Send in prelims so you have at least something when the deadline hits.
And if you haven't received my confirmation of receiving your orders, then assume I did not receive and resend them. Usually I confirm receipt within 4 hours, but it s always best not to wait until the last moment.
I may send out reminders that we're nearing the deadline but haven't received any doesn't mean the deadline will be pushed back.

Check my House rules again if you're not familiar with them.
Cheers
Frank

DC201 (Viking) - Spring 961 adjudication - deathblade_penguin   (Jan 14, 2009, 9:16 pm)
so you still think you can get a solo, hey Jorge... still voting down those proposals...

very annoying.

Well I commit myself to the Burgundy-Swedish-Slavic-Norge alliance to take down Ere!

Spring 961: 3 Draw proposals were on the table.
All proposals received votes, no abstains, and these are the results:
1) DIAS - Voted down
2) 2-DRAW ERE and SLAV - Voted down
3) 2-DRAW ERE and NOR - Voted down
So we continue our quest for the Solo, I guess.

This Spring showed heavy fighting, again, between ERE and BUR on their borders. ERE successfully defends Venezia which leads to a self-induced failing chain of orders for BUR as these were dependent on the taking of VEN. Another success for ERE in Praha as it convincingly fended off a Swedish attack. In the Eastern Mediterranean there is a stand-off between ERE and the BUR/NOR alliance but in the western part of it the alliance is inching closer to the ERE troops.
In the far East meanwhile, after years of war between the Slavs and the Romans, both armies seem to have decided that it would be wiser to deploy their units elsewhere than have them tied up in a stalemate over Burta, Khazar Empire, Vladimir, and Cumaniya.
In Scandinavia the Norse and the Swedes have lined up their units along their borders - ready for a major war? If so, then the approaching Slavs will definitely cause the Swedes some headaches.
No retreats.

Folks,
I am missing one set of orders for this turns. I have given the player 24 hours to get me his orders. The player has been written separately to let him know he is late. As soon as I get them in I will send out to turn. If I do not hear from the player by 9pm EST tomorrow night I will adjudicate without the orders.

Bull No. 2-- Lep. Expeditionary Corps HQ (LECH) &a... - MattKelly   (Jan 14, 2009, 3:24 pm)
From he who sits upon the Sacred Stool before the Great Bar at the Most Holy Shrine to the Great JuJu & Pub.

To the valiant Leprechaun forces in the field--

Even though provinces and many old and famous pubs have fallen or may fall into the effeminate grip of those pointy-eared rat bastards and all the odious apparatus of Elvin rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in the provinces, we shall fight on the lakes and rivers, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength, we shall defend our pubs and all you can eat buffets, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; wherever we can gain an unfair advantage, we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, our lands or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then we shall go beyond the seas, and freeload on our neighbors and forget the struggle, until, in The Great JuJu’s good time, we over stay our welcome and are tossed out and are forced back to liberate that which was taken from us.

Heya folks,

No joy on the DIAS proposal as the Italians are forced to disband in Trieste and Turkey ends up sailing from Byzantium. There was only the single retreat from Turkey required, but since Aegean Sea was the only option I took the liberty. (Buck, please let me know if OTB is preferred.)

We battle on into the Fall of 08. Deadline for orders will be set for Monday, January 19th (11:59 PM GMT). As always, please let me know if you spot any errors.

Cheerio!

First off, let me say thanks to Dan for sticking around all this time... a lot of people would NMR after finding few allies.

A lot of miscommunication, it would seem, on the board this season. As a result, not a whole lot of movement. My favorite was Mexico and South America playing a game of "after you" so long that Russia just moved into Honshu uncontested.

We've only got one retreat to resolve before moving along to the Winter of 2008... and someone tells me it's going to be a cold one.

DC201 (Viking) - Spring 961 adjudication - bielf11   (Jan 13, 2009, 10:18 pm)

No retreats.

dc235 Winter Blitz! Dirkfell S01 Results in Real P... - garry.bledsoe   (Jan 13, 2009, 10:08 pm)
Ahhh. How fickle and persnickety I become in old age. Not thrilled with RP but I did commit to use it for this game. So...as promised, here are the files in that format.

One VERY important note: I now know that I will be out of town next week and unable to do our Monday adjudication. I will contact Mike/Trout to do it for me. HOWEVER, that said, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU STILL SEND ORDERS TO ME AND THE ORDERS BOX. They will use that to do the round I am out and I will use the copy you send me to verify/update my files upon my return.

The first file shows the moves/orders; the second, the results. Happy hunting.

Some quick notes:
* No retreats needed so we proceed to our Thursday 5pm CST deadline
* Because I was behind [work dinner ran late], I used a DIFFERENT program to adjudicate - I am quicker at it. I WILL BE REVERTING TO THE REAL POLITIK VERSION USED ON OTHER GAMES IN THE TOURNAMENT TOMORROW. I am sure this will at least let you guys start communicating given the tight timelines but I will send out the other version [and the one to use go-forward] soon...NOTE: different look but the same results.
* I am human. Please contest this QUICKLY if you think there is an error.
* We have PRESS. It is at the bottom.

All the best,

PRESS:

A Short Commentary on Not Much in Particular:

The legendary Cossacks dominated the eastern European steppes from the 14th century until the Russian Revolution, shifting their loyalties from one overlord to another.
Like the Turkish janissaries, they became an unstable element of society who struck an equal amount of fear into Russia as they did to her enemies. Not since Sparta had the world seen a society so wholly devoted to the cause of war as the Cossacks.

The Tatar khan was broken by the Cossacks. Their lands contained the wrath of the vast Ottoman empire. Even Napoleon regarded them as the most formidable opponent he faced. Tested and proven by five centuries of nearly uninterrupted warfare, the Cossacks are one of the most capable military forces the world has ever known. And now they wait with shashka in hand to see which of Russia's rivals in DC 235 will feel their wrath.
