PS s17 results! - The Tragedy - FuzzyLogic   (Nov 03, 2008, 1:06 pm)
Tragedy – a Greek art form based on human suffering that offers its audience pleasure.

So it seems at least one person here is about to enjoy some pleasure, while perhaps the others are the audience? Or maybe we’re all suffering, and someone, somewhere, is enjoying all the pleasure. Or even yet we’ve all gotten the pleasure, and the only ones who suffered were those who missed out on the game as we all watch out from the inside. All very mysterious, but what isn’t a mystery is that Boeotia has picked up 2 more centers, and all that needs transpire is to hold them one turn for a win!

There are 2 dislodgements, but only one space they can both go – to Kaphyae. So let’s have a couple retreats, one by Trout, and one by Jerry… One or the other of you can go to Kap, the other must disband, for if you both go there you both disband.

RETREATS: By tomorrow 10am Pacific
FALL 17: By Friday 10am Pacific

I’ll adjudicate either turn whenever I have a full set.

Enjoy!
-mike

Sorry for the delay, we have a player out of the country (which is why the next Move deadline will be so far out.)
I must say, this has got to be the most number of lines in such a small area I have ever seen in RP.
And the results of which yielded so few actual moves!
We have 12 moves that failed or bounced, one disband, and a whopping 2 units actually move!
There are no retreats, and only one Build.
So Italy, please get me your build order by Wednesday, Nov 5th (at) 9Pm

dc210 next update - FuzzyLogic   (Nov 03, 2008, 12:28 am)
Hey two-tenners,
I’ve got the full slate of orders in… so give me a few days yet to figure out a mechanism for routinely running this game. Have you all reviewed the unusual means for ordering to board and disembark from fleets?

www.dipwiki.com?title=Original_1958

Altho it’s uncommon that I’ll ever lock a turn early, since I’m just doing some admin stuff here, consider the moves in locked (feel free to discuss, nobody can change any more), as we’ve now passed Paolo’s stated deadline, and I’ve got the orders you all sent to him. So I should have this worked out by midweek and then we’ll get on a regular pace of a week or so per turn.

Again if anyone has ideas on a good freeform adjudicator other than Realpolitik or Cyberboard that would allow a custom map and moving of units around, let me know.

- DUTCH SAILORS LEARN WHAT'S AUSTRALIAN FOR BEER IN PERTH
- CHINESE MINGLE THEIR WAY OUT OF MONGOLIA

Yes folks, the game continues... and so do your GMs bad bad pun headlines...

Most builds are waived this Winter turn, the exception being the Dutch in Perth and Transvaal. Meanwhile the Chinese disband in Inner Mongolia and the Japanese in Sapporo. Thanks to all players for getting in touch with me and confirming their intention to waive orders...

So, we battle onwards. I'll try to set quicker deadlines as per player request - however I do recommend preliminary orders from all players to help out in this regard. The votes for the various EOG proposals will be due tomorrow night at 11:59 PM GMT. If necessary, the deadline for Spring 1880 will be set for Thursday, November 6th (11:59 PM GMT).

DC208 Early Winter 1903 - former.trout   (Nov 02, 2008, 8:39 pm)
Heya folks,

Turkey retreats to Armenia, and simple as that we move onto the Winter 1903 adjustments. I fully expect Bruce to be back on top of things tomorrow and to take hold of the reins once more. However, in the unlikely event that I am wrong please keep me CC'd on any adjustment orders you send in.

If, for any reason, Bruce is unable to set the Winter deadline then I will adjudicate the turn on Tuesday, November 4th (11:59 PM GMT).

Thanks, everyone, for putting up with me while I filled in for Bruce. Hope you all had a great weekend. Cheers!

This game will abide by the default DC houserules found here; http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/info.php?type=houserules

Make sure you read and understand them, if anything is unclear ask me and I’ll clarify.

Orders – Make sure to label your orders with the DC number for this game; 214 and also your Power. All orders not labelled final will be considered prelims.

Example; DC219, Prelim orders for England or DC214, Final orders for England

Do note that you can change your final orders as well, just make sure it’s before deadline! Also, if you want to you can specify the season, but that is not required.

I will usually confirm your moves within 24 hours or faster – if you don’t get a message within that timeframe, resend the moves.

And finally, don’t forget to send thoose prelims in!

NMR;

All players have one, 1 that is, 24h grace period prior to suffering their first Nmr of any kind (moves, retreats or builds/removals). After that, Nmr’s will be enforced as defined by the DC houserules.

Extensions etc. Theese will normally be granted if I get them in due time. I do reserve myself the right to decline extensions if the request is sent less than 24 hours before deadline

Schedule;

One major phase per week, the following schedule is my suggestion;

Wednesday – Spring or Fall
Friday – Retreats, if any
Sunday – Builds/Removals, if any

All deadlines are at 21.00, GMT +1 (this can be shuffled a bit if it’s particulary bad for anyone)

Adjucations will usualy be online within 1-2 hours after deadline is passed, this is my first game so be nice to me if I drag it out a bit for the first few moves J

So,

First deadline will be: Wednesday 12th November, at 21.00 GMT +1

Have fun!

Mikael, Your GM

dc210 update - FuzzyLogic   (Nov 01, 2008, 11:35 pm)
Hi folks,
As we await the last set of 210 orders rolling in, does anyone know what
program Paolo used to run this game? Is it just a layered map / image
where he moved things manually? I can probly whip up a Cyberboard
gamebox for it, but don't know any way to make it work in RP given the
strange rules that exist. And oh my are there a lot of them! This will
sure be an exercise in learning most Dip rules one way, then forgetting
all that to play the original version!

DC208 - Late Orders for Early Winter - former.trout   (Nov 01, 2008, 9:44 pm)
Hey all,

Not sure whether Phildor sent his retreat to Bruce or not, but it was not received by me... Deadline was a couple hours ago - but owing to the possibility of a simple communication error, we'll grant a 24 hour grace period before retreating the unit OTB.

Happy Halloween weekend, folks!

DC205 - Missing Summer 04 Retreat - former.trout   (Nov 01, 2008, 9:37 pm)
Heya all,

I'm starting to think Saturday is a horrible night to set a deadline... We're missing one of our two retreat orders. The player in question has been notified in a seperate email. We'll hold off for 24 hours, and then I will auto-retreat OTB if no orders are forthcoming.

Must be something about Halloween weekend. Ghosts are intercepting all the emails... =P

Cheers!

Guess we need a little more time. We'll extend the Spring 1909 deadline till Monday, November 3rd (11:59 PM GMT) and hope that the 3 sets of missing orders find their way in.

Guys,

All that talk about faster deadlines and yet here we are at the Winter 1879 deadline, and I'm short 3 out of 5 sets... Granted some of you might be wanting to waive those builds but I'd still ask to hear that from ya. =)

I'll wait till the morning before waiving builds and/or auto-disbanding. Those that I'm short for will be notified in a seperate email...

Urgent and call for more clarification @00226 7805... - anisulmasari14 at abua...   (Nov 01, 2008, 4:24 pm)
Dear Friend,
I am the head of Accounts and Audit Department of Bank of Africa, Ouagadougou . I decided to contact you after a careful thought that you may be capable of handling this business transaction which I explained below;
In my department, I discovered an abandoned sum of $17.5m US dollars (seventeen million, five hundred thousand US dollars). In an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer who died along with his entire family in 2002 in a plane crash.

Since i got information about his death, The bank have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because The fund cannot be released unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines but unfortunately I learnt that his supposed next of kin(his son and wife) died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim .It is therefore upon this discovery that I now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin (I want to present you as his business associate )to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and I don't want this money to go into the Bank treasury as unclaimed Bill.
The Banking law and guideline here stipulates that if such money remained Unclaimed after seven years, the money will be transferred into the Bank treasury as unclaimed fund.
The request of foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and a Burkina be cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner.
I agree that 35% of this money will be for you as foreign partner, in respect to the provision of a foreign account, 10 % will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business and 55% would be for me . There after I will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentages indicated.
Therefore to enable the immediate transfer of this fund to your account as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as next of kin of the deceased customer. Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax or email the text of the application. I will not fail to bring to your notice that this transaction is hitch free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the transfer.
I expect that you contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter, and send me your personal data including your recent passport before i send you the application which you will fill and send to the bank for continuation of this transaction.
Hoping to hear from you immediately.
Yours faithfully,
Dr Anisul Masari.
Accounts & Audit Department,
Bank of Africa.
Nb. gives me your telephone and fax numbers for easy communication with you,
