Yeah.  My role in DipCorp has always been to support Sims solos.  We've worked so well together in every game we've played.  Has anyone out there EVER seen the two of us allied?

dc109 f216 BC Results! - An Egyptian Comic in Rome... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
An Egyptian Comic in Rome?
Amon Simbatala Leonida the Fourth [Simba the Great Sphinx] yawned in boredom. Ever since sending Tarsis off to the wilds of the barbarians across the sea to be an Oracle he had been bored and sullen. He missed the wit that that young one had. He knew that it was the lot of the Lion Kings to not get much pleasure out of life but that didn't mean that he had to like it. But today was going to be different - as he read the Mediterranean World News [owned by that foul Gaul Rupert Murdochebury] an article caught his attention. It was about an Egyptian who was captured in a covert raid on Alexandria by Glutius Maximus. Reported to be an Egyptian of exceeding intellect, he apparently had been pressed into service giving performances in front of the mighty Sergeant Jerrius Noncommunicatus.

"Hmm," Simba wondered out loud. "An Egyptian comic? I always thought that we were too busy worshipping this Sun God or that Lord of the Dead to be funny?"

Simba roared out loud, a plan forming in his mind.

Brudha, the young LionTalker who had taken Tarsis' place and was sure to become a great prophet one day, came running when he heard the great Simba roar.

"Oh Great Simba, what is wrong? What ails you?"

Simba grumbled, "We have a son of the Pharaohs that has been pressed into the service of another. This I cannot bear. At once you must instruct the Pharaoh's armies to this strange empire of Rome to rescue him. His name is..."

"Comicus."

6 Months Later...Ionian Sea
The Egyptian sea captain shook his head. A raid on some back-water countryside province that he couldn't even remember the name of? Ipanema? Oh well, it isn't important. But this ferrying business is getting tiresome. Can't I get a real assignment like raiding a town? All of my brothers are off pillaging barbarian towns and I get stuck with ferry duty. I better get to go attack a nice cozy seaside town after this. I hear that Sicilia is nice in the Fall.

The captain merely shook his head. There was nothing for it. For now he had become the personal ferry-man for the Pharaohs elite armies.

"Alright you slags. Let's get going. Time for us to do the Pharaohs bidding." And once again miss the action, he thought. "It's off to Ipanema, or Kilimanjaro, or Aperture or whatever. Set sail."

*****************************************************************

Today we bid farewell to our newly departed Macedonians. Our prayers will rest with the Greeks and their fearless leader Josh. Except for maybe the young Persian scribe, Atar… unaware of the magnitude of what’s happened here… the deals that were cut with the sheep-defiling Scythians… the monies paid to buy off the Egyptian navy… he picks up a tattered map of the universe, gazes quizzitively and casts it aside… “Camelspit – What did these Greeks know anyways!”… kicking around the scrambled remains of some once-right triangles, he wonders what his nation really stands for. The Oracle said it was time for a change… But this?

DC105 - Tears Of Cassandra Fall 08 Deadline Remind... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi folks,

Please consider this to be a gentle heads-up that Fall 08 orders for Tears of Cassandra are due in approximately 16.5 hours. I do not currently have all sets in, so please sharpen those spears and jab someone with the pointy end. =)

Cheers,

DC116 - Vogon's Revenge - At Last The Secret Is Ou... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The orders aswirl 'fore the GM
Like a heavy rock music anthem
The directions seemed tilted
Player alliances wilted
Still, results must be provided to them

------------------------

I admit that after the Fall of 1904 I'm in strange territory and cannot predict which way this game will fall. Russia stabs Turkey at the same time Turkey moves north, Germany takes a bite out of Italy as Russia and England take a bite out of him and the French, as always, continue to go their own way.

One retreat was required out of the whole kit and kaboodle, but as there was only one possibility I took the liberty. The German army in Denmark was retreated to Kiel. William, if OTB is preferred please just let me know.

Otherwise, on with the Winter 04 Adjustments. I'll set the deadline for Thursday, September 27th (11:59 PM GMT.) Please let me know if that doesn't work for you, or if you need more time.

Incidentally, in case anyone was wondering, I take all the email subject headers from song titles of a specific CD. (I like to think of it as the game soundtrack.) The CD we have been listening to for the first part of the game has been Carla Bruni's "No Promises". However, with the Fall turn this CD has spun itself out and I will be popping in a new one with the Winter. Aimless trivia for those who like to keep track of that sort of thing.. =)

Cheers everyone!

Trout

Remember the deadline is this Friday! Most orders not in yet… and now going into our 3rd year, I will not be staying after class to wait for the stragglers! Results will be going out promptly. Especially with this game since everyone gets different deadlines based on what they have due, it’s important to send prelims.

Josh, that is true.
His wife (and editor since page one) has all the notes, the whole thing has been scripted for quite some time. And a few weeks ago RJ sat her and Cousin/Brother Wilson down for an all day Storytelling session, laying out EVERYTHING (Wish we had video of that!)

Harriet had edited RJ's work for 20 years and is a poet and author in her own right. She can capture his voice and finish book 12. Time is the only question. For her I hope the work will give her closure, otherwise the whole effort may prove too painful to bare. No one is rushing her to get it done, the whole fan community is being very supportive.

There are plans for an international Wake on his birthday (Oct 17th) Fans are rushing to make arrangements all over the world.

Any interest in joining the game?
