Live Game - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
At least initially, yeah. If we get a format down that works, then maybe run one bi-monthly going forward, and open it up to any GM's that want to do it. Being it's only an evening of committment and not a year, we should get a lot of interest.

Ultimately I'm thinking of instead of having a single recruiting game, have a waiting-list set up that takes any number of players. Then come gametime, you have a long list of people that can show up for it, and it's more likely to get off the ground unlike the early revs of this we've tried.

dc99 s07 Results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I humbly admit to everyone that they were 100% correct, and that trusting Steve Lytton is tantamount to planting a dagger squarely between your own shoulder blades.

Further, I publicly declare that Austria is now nothing more than an extension of the Russian empire and that beneath the white dots are brown ones just waiting to be freed by victorious Cossack troops. The Archduke awaits the orders of his Russian masters.

DC116 - Winter 04 Adjustments Extension - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi folks,

The deadline for Winter 1904 adjustments was actually yesterday evening. My thanks to those of you who got orders in on time. However, as it currently sits, I'm missing three and a half sets of orders. Since I can honestly use the time myself, we will extend the winter deadline 48 hours to Saturday, September 29th (11:59 PM GMT).

Order up, please. Thanks,

Trout

I've found in my experience that the problems does not really lie with getting in the number of players but getting them to commit for the full game.. in the last 3 or 4 i've been in (admittedly some of them were delayed starts waiting for people to arrive).. we've played like 2 hours and then people say "oh i didn't realise it would take so long' or 'i have to go'..

i've never played in a live game that actually finished.

Perhaps with your scheduled time (and obviously nmrs for those who break beyond that).. this might be less of a problem.

DC123 Shade Of The Bonsai - Fall 1571 - Idyll's En... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
From the Message of Master Gokurakuji

If one will fix his heart in such a way and assist the world and its people, he will have the devotion of the men who see and hear of him

Tough times continue for the Uesugi as the Hojo bounce them from Mutsu, slight confusion reigns in the Mori ranks and its high times in the eastern waters as no less than four factions compete for the waters bordering the Pacific.

No retreats are required after the Fall, although we do say goodbye to two more Ronin armies in Yamashiro and Bungo. The Winter 1571 adjustment deadline will be set for Sunday, September 30th (11:59 PM GMT).

Fight on, mighty warriors. Send me an arrow if you spot any adjudication errors.

Cheers,

Trout

DC106 PRESS - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Poland's Statements

To Ukraine:
I failed to enter SIB because of Israel. My A KAR will be under your order. Plus, can you tell me the locations of Israel troops? I can see A PIE and A VEN; and I guess F ADR and A UMB.

To Spain:
This year will be your last chance to decide which side you are on. MID is the furthest place you can reach in the north. Eire will not be able to help you because he will die within 2 years. Ukraine will not help Israel because Israel has invaded Ukraine. Ukraine knows that I had many chances to overrun Ukraine, but I didn't do it because he is my friend and my sword against Israel.

If you decided to join me, you can answer me by doing the followings this fall:
1. F MID enter BRI, I will support you. BRI will be yours as long as it was kept as Fleet.
2. Let me enter SCH. I will then help you to take PIE.

Once you have done what I asked. I will:
1. Let you keep BRI, DIJ and LAN
2. Help you to take PIE and the rest of Italy except VEN.
3. If you want, I will send one fleet (or more if you wish) to the south and help you to take North Africa, and let you control them.
4. Once Israel is defeated, I will ask for draw game.

DC104 Invitational - Fall 1907 - Blue Orchid - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The trio of Italian boats navigated the Venice canals, speeding through the twisted maze of waterways. Around them, the sinking city burned as all hell rained down upon it. Twisted hunks of metal - ruined vessels from previous forays, created jagged obstacles in their path. The high-pitched whine of gunfire sounded all around them. Suddenly, the gunfire ceased.

"Three German boats behind us," reported the junior pilot, Green-Five

"Stay on target.." replied Green-Seven as he began evasive maneuvers. "Stay on target."

Machine-gun fire raked across Five's stern, his motor began to smoke. "I'm hit!"

"Get out of there, Five!" Green-Two, the lead vessel yelled back. "You can't do any good back there!"

"Sorry!" Green-Five rounded a corner, exiting the main canal trench. The German boats let him go, zooming after the two continuing Italian vessels. Green-Five weaved back and forth, desperately trying to shake them off. With merciless precision, the central German boat tracked him, then fired a burst of rounds into the boats fuel tank. Metal spewed in all directions as the fireball filled the canal.

Suddenly alone, Green-Two began his evasion pattern. Behind him, the central German boat tracked him, waiting for the Italian ship to fall into his gunsights. "Hmm, the Captain thought. The Luck is strong with this one."

Ahead, the German command post loomed. A dark metallic egg rising above the canals. As the Italian readied his bomb, the German behind him prepared to fire. Suddenly, a torpedo fell out of the sky, exploding the German boat on the right flank. Overhead, a Turkish plane zoomed by, the pilot giving a thumbs up and yelling "Yee-haw!!" The planes machine gun began to strafe the canal, pulverizing the German boat on the left. The central boat, spinning to avoid the explosion, hit some wreckage and launched up out of the canal and onto a city street.

"You're in the clear, kid!" Yelled the Turkish pilot. "Now blow this thing up and lets go home!"

Grinning broadly, Green-Two launched his bomb. Seconds later, explosions rocked the city as the German command post erupted in flames.... Venice had been retaken...

-------------------------

Apologies to Lucas for the above hack-job. Yes, with a daring raid on Venice and a joint Austro-Turkish foray into Trieste, the rebel alliance deals a blow to the dark side and prevents a German solo. The Kaiser reaches 17 centers, a whisper from the 18 he needs for world domination. Meanwhile, receiving no help from France, England loses their last center in Brest and becomes eliminated.

Two retreats were needed after the Fall moves, but one was an automatic disband and the other had only one option so I took the liberty. The German army in Trieste was disbanded and, as mentioned, the black army in Venice was forced out to Piedmont. Mike, if OTB is preferred please just let me know. Otherwise, I'll set the Winter 1907 Adjustment deadline for Monday, October 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Please let me know if you spot any errors in the adjudication. Cheers all,

Trout

- JUBILANT MEXICANS IN MAZATLAN WELCOME RETURN OF THEIR NATIONAL NAVY
- FACED WITH THE DARK HEART OF AFRICA, TURKISH TROOPS CHOOSE APOCALYPSE NOW
- BRAZILIAN NAVY RETURNS FOR SHORE LEAVE IN SOUTH GEORGE ISLANDS

Heya folks,

A substantial number of the retreats for Early Winter 1864 were off the board, and the Mexican retreat reclaims Mazatlan further altering the build count. Those who have already submitted prelims in, please double-check as the Early Winter results have substantially altered what is needed. We'll set the Winter 1864 Adjustment deadline for Monday, October 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

There was a slight error in my written adjudication for the Fall turn, which has been pointed out to me. The Japanese navy from the Phillipines and the British navy from Hong Kong bounced in the South China Sea 2:2. I have corrected this on the adjudication - there was no need to correct the map as it was all right already. My apologies for the mistake, and thanks to the player who pointed it out.

Should be good for now - please let me know if you spot any more goofs though. Thanks everyone!

Dc116 - Vogon's Revenge Winter 1904 - That Home - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
They weren't heavy-handed
The least force was expanded
But just when Marseilles
Got used to blue eyes
The German force got disbanded

Hi all,

Germany disbands in Marseilles, France in Gascony and Austria in Tyrolia. Meanwhile, Turkey builds an army in Smyrna and England builds an army in London to go with their new fleet in Edinburgh.

That would about cover Winter 1904. I'll set the deadline for Spring 1905 Orders for Wednesday, October 3rd (11:59 PM GMT.)

Cheers everyone!

Trout

DC121 Winter 1902 Take 2 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey guys,

So it seems we've had a bit of a communication failure. Dan (Austria)
apparently sent his build in before the deadline, but I did not receive
it. I also checked my spam folder and there were no emails from him,
which I did not find too surprising considering that my new email has
successfully received messages from all of you. Normally, and according
to my house rules, this would result in a "Build Waived," as was first
published. That said, with all the issues and kinks regarding the new
email and the deadline confusion, it is also possible that it slipped
through the cracks somewhere, so I'm inclined to let Austria have his
build. However, since this is going against my house rules, I'm also
opening up the floor to you all for complaints. If you think this is
unfair, just let me know. Just one complaint will trigger an anonymous
vote on the matter, and it will be settled that way.

Matt

DC121 Winter 1902 Take 3 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Ok let's try one more time to get this right. Had it right the first
time and don't know why I switched it: France's build was in fact Mar
not Par. So here's hopefully the final addition.
