Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Early Winter... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hey guys,
So a funny thing happened to me this morning. My work laptop, (the one I've been using the last couple weeks since my personal laptop fried a gasket), just imploded. It clicked, it whirred, it gave a funny white loading screen and then all went black. With my own laptop having taken an early retirement, this left me in the lurch - so to speak.

Sooooo... I took the opportunity provided by having two laptops sizzle in two weeks to do something I've always wanted to do but have been too scared to. I went out and bought a Mac.

Yup. I am now one of 'those Mac People'... =P

How does this impact our game? Well, I'm rebuilding all my RealPolitik files - and RealWorld does not apparently work for Macs. Long story short, I just don't have a map for the Early Winter 1870 retreats. I will strive to get something together in the next couple days as I familiarize myself with this funky Mac OS X system.

Hope you guys all can hang on there for a day or so without the map. The Early Winter adjudication is below - Winter 1870 adjustments will be due Wednesday, March 26th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

DC161 Knights Who Say Ni! - Winter 826 - A Man Wit... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Trout,

Your updating and expanding of the entire playing area via your 'SPR.gif' map file was an impressive attempt--a leap of 1000+ years in one shot, eh? One question though. Are we now considering the Gaels, Scots, Anglo-Saxons and the Bretons as one nation? If so, can I ask to push back our next deadline? I need try and renegotiate a few relationships...

Bruce

Subject: DC161 Knights Who Say Ni! - Winter 826 - A Man With Three Buttocks

... It's perfectly easy for somebody just to come along here to the BBC simply claiming... that they have a bit to spare in the botty department...but the point is Mr. Frampton... our viewers need proof...
--------------------------

Good thing the Swedes don't have three buttocks.. They'd run out of pants material - stretching it thin enough as it is with two brand new armies. Anglo-Saxons and the Norse both build fleets and the Danes launch fireboats for all their units except for the one in Ribe.

Deadline for Spring 827 orders will be set for Monday, March 31st (11:59 PM GMT). Cheers!

Just took a rather cheap shot which I thought was oh-so-funny this morning (too much coffee?).

No matter, in seeking closure over this incident, I offer the following quote from one infinitely wiser than I: "Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy"...

The Italians finish their takeover of Iberia while the English storm
into the Mid-Atlantic on their tail, Germany joins Italy and England on
French soil, and the Kaiser also unwittingly helps Turkey, who reclaims
Bul before the Austrians can assimilate it. Who will prevail in all
this still remains to be seen; who has a trick up their sleeve?

The only two retreats were French so I have auto-retreated him since he
is due two disbands anyways. This puts us at Winter 1905, which will be
due this Friday, March 28, at 9 pm eastern time. Adjustments due are
listed at the bottom of the adjudication, and as always with retreats
and adjustments I will adjudicate early if I receive adjustments from
everybody early.

DC129 - Turkish Revolution Afoot - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Greetings all.

After watching my brother fumble around at the throne for the last 7 years, I knew I had to step up before he did something to ruin my, I mean our, country. I look forward to chatting with all of you shortly.

(In real life, I just got swamped with a project, but I shall email all of you individually before the day is done.)

As Trout said, I'm Kevin O'Kelly. I live in Chicago (GMT -5). I have been playing FTF dip recently and haven't been on the email circuit for a while. I look forward to a smooth end of this game, with hopes of a quick finish.

But there's always that part of me that's dying for a bloody fight to the end!

Regards,
-kevin

Gents of In Rainbows,

With regret, I've notified Tory that he may now stand easy and relinquish command of the Yellow armies. Please welcome Kevin O'Kelly who has been good enough to answer the call and step in as the new Sultan. You may get a hold of Kevin at his email address (kevinokelly AT gmail DOT com).

To give our new player a little bit of time to diplome with all of you, the Fall 1908 deadline will be rescheduled to Monday, March 31st (11:59 PM GMT).

Thanks for the patience everyone. Let the game resume!

Cheers!

The Time has Come... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,
This is about the slimmest our Open Games page has been in half a year! With the Winter Blitz round 2 starting, lots of new variants kicked off, and Standards galore, it seems things have finally leveled out a bit.

So what variants are ya lookin for?

Any potential GM’s out there want to take the next standard game?
