DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Winter 2006 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya gang,

Boy is my face red on this one. Here, a couple days late, is the Winter 2006 adjudication. The Canadian provinces get emptier as Manitoba and Quebec are yanked. Meanwhile armies are built in Philly and San Diego.

My apologies for missing this the last couple days. I could blame it on my love affair with my new Mac, but really I just screwed up.

In addition, we have proposals for pretty much every end-game result you could think of. Rather than list them all, please just let me know if there are any end-game proposals that you *do* vote for. Deadline for Spring 2007 orders and any end-game votes will be due Tuesday, April 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

DC 138 WINTER OF OUR DISCONTENT

WINTER 2006

CALIFORNIAN PRESS:
The Republic of California seems to have misplaced all maps coving regions to its north and south. Unless these can be replaced, there is no option other than to continue proceeding eastward. Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Winter 1870 -... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
- US RECRUITS VILLAGERS FROM TINY SOCIETY ISLANDS- CHINESE DISCOVER LOVE FOR DRAGON-BOAT RACES - BUILD THIRD FLEET
- RUSSIA GETS SERIOUS ABOUT DISBANDING IN SYRIA
- WORLD-WIDE MAP SHORTAGE DRIVES CARTOGRAPHY EXPERTS BONKERS

Let me tell you all how much I'm in love with this Mac - except in one itty bitty detail... While there is a version of RP for the Mac, the 'Special Build' patch to allow for large-scale games only works on the Windows version. And there doesn't seem to be any RealWorld program written for Mac. Creating a map of the GGS Winter 1870 turn is the ONLY thing I have been unable to do so far on this machine.

Before you all cry foul, however, here are the steps I am taking:
- I've signed up for the RealPolitik forum on Yahoogroups. My membership must be approved first before I can post or search through the forum however.
- My AC power adaptor for my HP laptop is on its way here from the one tiny store in San Diego that stocked that particular part. When it arrives tomorrow or Friday, I will use the HP to create the Winter map and .dpy file

Alternatively, if there was a kind player out there that wanted to pop out the .dpy and map and distribute it, it wouldn't go unappreciated. =P

In any case, Winter builds follow below. Please let me know if there are any errors spotted. Otherwise, Spring 1871 orders will be due Tuesday, April 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

dc163 Spring 1902 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Spring of the second year has a few more battles to figure out. And folks it looks like the Germans were duped. Army Munich supports huh? A determined effort by the British and French breach the German boarders. Austria reclaims his home center and takes Bulgaria from the Turks. Turkey forces his way into Rumania, chasing the Russians back to Sevastopol. This along with the Russian defeat in Vienna puts the Russians back on there heels. Can they counter? Meanwhile the Italians quietly venture forth from the "boot".

This Fall is shaping up to be an exciting one! Good Luck to you all!

Fall 1902 moves will be due Wednesday April 2nd by 8pm EST.

For the Spring two Russian retreats were forced but both only have one option for retreat so I made the moves. Ivan if you would like to disband, one or both, instead of retreating just let me know ASAP.

Dc142 Spring 1906.

Bad Times ahead.

First of all there were 2 NMRs this season, Russia and Turkey. Russia survives this lack of mis-orders very well and infact was not attacked at all. Turkey on the other hand, looses a vital army due to this NMR.

Secondly This is Turkey's 2 NMR in a row for a major season, so I am reluctantly declaring Turkey in CD. If Russia fails to submit moves for Fall 1906 I will also declare Russia in CD as well.

dc171 - Fall 1901 - Deadline reminder and Conditio... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Fall 1901 deadline is at 5pm EDT today. Please submit your orders or any changes before that time. NMR's for those that don't submit anything.
TOMORROW at 5pm EDT is the retreats and adjustments phase. If you want to send in conditional builds, please feel free to do so with fall orders or at any time before the Winter deadline.

CONDITIONAL ADJUSTMENTS:
The reason for conditional adjustments is due to the fact that because of the schedule of this tournament, there is only one deadline for both Fall retreats and Winter adjustments.

I will accept adjustments in the order that they are listed. So say if you are Germany, you can submit the following:

- A MUN
- F KIE
- A BER

If Germany only is allowed two builds, only A MUN and F KIE will be built. If Germany is only allowed one build, only A MUN will be built.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can also write builds as follows (pretending I am Italy):
- F NAP
- If France retreats F WMS to TYS, then build F ROM.
- A VEN
In this case, if Italy receives two builds, his second build is conditional on a retreat, which in the order of Diplomacy turns is correct. A player should be able to know what the retreats are before he or she builds. HOWEVER, if Italy were to receive three builds, and France does not retreat WMS to TYS, then Italy would be waive one build that turn. The correct way to write orders for that turn would be the following:
- F NAP
- If France retreats F WMS to TYS, then build F ROM.
- A VEN
- F ROM
This guarantees if Italy three builds if available to him or her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This tool can also be used for disbands as well. For instance, if you have to submit early before you see Fall adjudications, you could order the following:

- Remove army located in SIL in Fall 1902.

That way, if that unit happens to move in Fall 1902, it'll still be removed. I would prefer that specific orders be used in every case where possible, however the deadlines are short and real life happens.

ONE LAST THING... You cannot submit builds that are conditional on other builds. Since all orders are executed simultaneously, you cannot ask that a fleet be built if your neighbor builds a fleet. If an order like that is submitted, I will not accept it.

This is just a tool for you guys to use in case you won't have access to email on a Friday. You can send these conditional builds (and even retreats) as early as Monday after Spring adjudications come out. I'm just trying to make the game as easy on you as possible.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Neither, sorry. Just new to the site and looking at this game.

I figured a bold statement would get a player involved. Who are you playing?

Are you bold enough to lay claim to the title of leader?

Do you guys get maps?

Are the Pirates or Rogues losing, since you think it's them?

dc171 - Fall 1901 - Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
GAME NOTES:
Last turn, there was 1 NMR. This turn, there are 2 (Turkey and France).
If we get to 7 NMR's in one turn, I'm calling this game a draw. I probably can't do that, but darnit, I'll try.
There are no retreats, so only builds are due tomorrow.

In regards to the request for a later deadline for Fall 1902... I cannot give extensions in this tournament, however, luckily for someone, it's Opening night next Thursday for the Chicago Fire (local professional soccer team). I'll be pushing the deadline back until about 11p EDT.

DEADLINES:
Winter 1901 - Friday March 28, 2008 at 21:00GMT (5pm EDT)

Neither, sorry. Just new to the site and looking at this game. Do you guys get maps?

From the GM:
Everyone gets their own maps, showing only what they can see. For full details of the Fog of War mechanism, see here:

Doug,

sorry to have to point this out to you but you have got it wrong again!
Or rather, the map on http://diplomaticcorp.com/hgames/dc127.gif is wrong again.
This time, for whatever reason, the ITA order PIE - MAR didn't go through. It did on your previous version, though.

One more time?
